Steady on, it's one win.

After the many seasons we've struggled - apart from two - since promotion to the EFL, I'd be happy with mid-table obscurity upwards. And no flirting with relegation.
You lot are my outside tip for promotion.

Yorkshire derby, huge crowd, massive expectations and the early leg break with an inept ref. I don’t think either set of fans can draw too much about their chances for the rest of the season from it.
Wasn't Bobby Madden the ref??? cos that would speak volume's.

Adam Johnson’s put some timber on. Didn’t think the food was that good inside
That reminds me of when Ian Watkins of the Lostprophets got banged up for 30 years for abusing babies and the story had a picture of Ian Watkins from Steps with it instead. :bl:

I had high expectations of him, knowing the level he has officiated at lately. One of the worst refereeing performances I’ve seen in a while.
You should have been at wembley for our last playoff final!! his performance that day was more than incompetent it was downright corrupt.

The Tomlin red which has gone viral was ironically one of the decisions Bobby Madden actually got right, the criticism of his performance has come mostly from not giving a red for the leg break (and the tone that set for the match) and allowing so much sh*t housing (the refs had met with the clubs preseason to say they are stamping down on time wasting but Madden must still have been in Scotland for that one).

No he didn’t get the Tomlin one right because he should have given a second yellow when Tomlin kicked the ball away the second time

I agree with this. Tomlin rightly got booked for kicking the ball away the first time. Tomlin then kicked the ball away AGAIN, and should have been given a second yellow for that offence. The Bradford player then trod on his foot (I had to look at this again in slow motion) which I imagine would have actually hurt given how light the fabric is on football boots these days, however Tomlin made an absolute meal of it and it looked like he got booked for 'simulation'?

The second yellow was for Tomlin throwing his had at the Bradford player and making contact with his leg not simulation so the next question is why didn’t the Bradford player get booked for standing on his foot? The thing is if he’d given the second yellow when he did, the amateur dramatics after wouldn’t have happened

Never mind standing on his foot, I wish Walker had have head butted the cheating fat twat. All game he was chipping away at our players and the ref and throwing his fat arse in the way of the ball to slow it down where possible. Wish someone had give the ref a good smack as well, I don’t blame Donny for their antics as every team does it when they can get away with it. George Miller second half wasn’t even touched and threw himself to the ground, what’s the ref do stops the game. Another classic is the old tying the shoe lace trick which was done to great effect as the ref decided everyone needed to wait for him to finish. Just let the players get on with it and we’ll soon see these antics cut down.

I didn’t enjoy watching it but having seen other teams do exactly the same to us to get something out of a game, I have to admire our management team for actually realising what needs to be done to stop the rot and give the players some confidence. Last season we would have capitulated and lost by five or six. We aren’t and won’t be the only team to do that this season and don’t think for one minute your own team won’t do the same if need be.

I am very confident our team will not resort to the levels of cheating your lot did under Mark Hughes even if we were down to 10 men.

It says much about your managers lack of self belief in his team when he has to resort to tactics like that and shouting at your keeper to launch it as long as possible out of touch to waste time every time your keeper had the ball.

I would be ashamed and embarrassed if we ever did that.

It's just a shame we weren't quite good enough on the day to overcome your horrible tactics

Have you ever watched Mark Hughes’ teams before he came to Bradford? He definitely does resort to those tactics when needed. Like I said I wasn’t happy watching it and don’t want to have to too often but I’ll take that point. Oh and yes you very much were not good enough, I couldn’t believe you kept lumping the ball into the box instead of trying to go down the wings and stretch us, I would imagine that is something being worked on this week in training.

Well he’s not great at the scoring goals thing so he has to do something to be noticed.

No, now why don’t you toddle off down to the conference where you belong
Got any tips, apart from spending your way out of it?

Anyway, George Miller being a shit “striker” ,Lee Tomlin’s petulance, and Ravenhill Jr trying to break legs, what else was in the game on Saturday, Bradford fans?

I’d look closer to home regarding spending what you don’t have, given it’s the reason you are where you are.

*conveniently forgets that Doncaster Rovers had to win the 2003 Conference play-off final to get back into the Football League (after 5 years)
No, I could never forget that or why it happened. It took as long as it needed, to get back and be in a position where we have no debt

You broke the leg of our winger after 6 mins, so didn't get much chance of going down the wings. That said, I've already acknowledged we were not good enough on the day.

As for Hughes resorting to the same tactics you deployed on Saturday at previous clubs, I very much doubt that.

I was really looking forward to an entertaining Yorkshire derby to open the season in front of a big crowd and had it down as a 2-2 draw beforehand. Unfortunately it wasn't to be as only one team was interested in entertaining their fans.

We move on now and put it behind us

We were quite attacking the last time we had someone sent off (Watt at Tranmere).

I agree that other teams do it, you were up there with Forest Green for it though even with 11 men but at this level I do understand the do anything you can mentality as it is an awful level of football. As I said I don’t blame Donny or any team regardless of how annoying it is, it’s up to refs to sort it out but I won’t hold my breathe.

Regarding us I’ve not actually seen us do it in recent years and tbf it’s probably a reason we’ve been a soft touch and shit, if we won 10 away games like that I’d happily take it but I certainly won’t defend it I’m happy to call out my club when we’re crap just like our woeful play in the final third on Saturday. When we went down to 10 against Sutton and Tranmere last season we were the more attacking team and against Tranmere were punished for it.
