You seem to struggle with simple facts.

You had a player who tested positive on the morning of the match, who had travelled down with the squad and stayed overnight.
Most sensible people, being in contact with such a person would have self isolated and got a test as soon as possible. Not carry on as normal expecting to complete a football match.

Football is really not that important in these times.

I couldn’t actually care less if Beckles pissed on your players kids. I think the whole story is a load of innocent bumbling tinpot nonsense made into should-be national scandal by the Twitter echo chamber who need better things to worry about.

but yeah, Artell didn’t say that mate.

OK, ignore what Artell did or didn't say or did say, but didn't mean.

There are far more important things to be worrying about, such as not spreading a certain virus.
This is the real issue, which is why turning up at the ground and preparing to play was at best ill judged, bordering on recklessness.

Maybe the EFL rules need to change, if Crewe had been more responsible and not travelled to the ground, they may have had to forfeit the game.
That probably needs to change to encourage better decision making.

How the fuck can you Crewe idiots try to spin this that Oxford were in the wrong and that we're "making shit up" and are "weirdos?"

Facts are that you pitched up at our place and tried to gaslight us into playing. You knew the player was positive at 8:30am and yet chose not to inform us until you were already at the stadium and interacting with our players and staff. Don't you have fucking telephones? Why not phone at 8:30am and let us know that there is a problem?

The behaviour of your manager (or whoever was responsible for you turning up) was irresponsible at best and reckless at worse. Artel's interview was a rambling mess of contradictions and the bloke sounds as thick as shit.

Before today I'd have said that Crewe were a total irrelevance to me, but after the way that you acted today, and are acting on here and other forms of social media since, I hope we absolutely spank you when we do play you.

What a classless bunch of wankers.

I don’t like sticking up for Crewe but as long as neither who tested positive travel and are in isolation surely then they did what the rules said?

Problem Isn’t Crewe or Oxford mind but the rules are a confusing mess from the EFL on this.

Vale faced Scunthorpe who had a player test positive, Vale isolated a player who came into contact with a positive person today, Orient has to cancel Spurs and Grimsby didn’t play last week or today despite only two cases. West Ham played when a player and manager were at the ground testing positive an hour or so before kick off. Stevenage also played after a positive case.

So many varying decisions made and no consistency.

Key point is though we need regular testing at this level, it’s expensive but L1 and 2 need weekly testing ideally. PFA funding or splitting the costs with clubs and players.

Thats just it, according to the Crewe manager, the player in question organised his own test on Thursday, travelled down on the team coach with the squad on Friday and stayed at the hotel.
Then this morning the test came back as positive and instead of calling the game off there and then, Crewe still came to the ground expecting the match to carry on.

Yes because that is what the FL rules dictate! Look at the West Ham v Hull example, when Hull were threatened with expulsion from the carabao cup, even though Moyes and one of the players tested positive literally an hour before kick off.

You said Crewe fans were saying Oxford were in the wrong. Nobody. Is. Saying. That.

Weirdo.

They’re all getting themselves very worked up about stuff that’s never been said and the story that is really quite a non-issue. All as if biological warfare has broken out in League One. Highly amusing.

"I like to think I've done the right thing morally because I quite easily could have played and infected lots of Oxford players to make them weaker for next week.. now I don't want to do that..."

WTF you walked into our dressing room having been on a coach with a player who has tested positive for Covid. Your manager knew about this at 0830hrs this morning and allowed this to happen. I don't understand how you think this is acceptable. It is not the fact our team will be weaker next week it is their vulnerable family members that they now worry for.

Crazy crazy actions from Crewe.

This story is not a non-issue!

If they did.... not knowing that they had been in close contact with someone diagnosed with Covid19.

No. Some of your players came into our dressing room. That has been stated by our club.

Why are you defending this shitshow?

I mean, I’m sure it’s an issue to a couple of people. Not sure why you’re so angry tho. Global pandemic, lower league is tinpot with poor organisational skills, Crewe followed rules and regulations, shit happens. Deep breaths, don’t lose sleep over it.

I’m not defending anything. I just find it bizarre that your fans are so angry. Making out that Crewe have brought the plague upon you.

But the game got called off...... I’m not sure what else you think happened? Was there a massive gangbang in the away dressing room or something? I just don’t understand how anybody at Oxford could have caught Covid? Those clever scientists say to catch it you need to be within 2m of each other for a prolonged period of time, I think over 10 minutes? So unless there was a massive orgy, I think your employees will be fine.

You don't have a clue.

Keep digging but please don't come anywhere near Oxford, thanks.

I clearly have a better grasp on the reproduction of Covid than you and your weirdo fans. Like I said, unless all were involved in a huge gangbang in the away dressing room, your players and staff will be fine.

Gangbangs aside, maybe Oxford didn’t follow the Covid protocols, and were freely mixing with our players and staff? That could explain the concern.

Also if this is true, the book needs throwing at both clubs. That would be a clear breach of the Covid football regulations.

Seems Crewe’s positive coronavirus test is this weeks “Was Lincoln’s first goal offside?”

It is amazing what happens if, as a club, you plan ahead which Crewe had the time to do as we managed it for our game at Accrington. We had 5 players who were feeling unwell or had a family member feeling unwell, so as a precaution they self isolated immediately. They were tested and if positive remain in isolation and if the result was negative then the club had made arrangements for them to travel up separately which happened for a number of them such as James Henry and Sam Long who then played*.

Now Crewe and Beckles could have done exactly the same, it is hardly that long a journey from Crewe to Oxford. He would have made it easily on Saturday, considering the time the negative result was received. At the worst it would have been 1 less sub if you hadn't taken somebody extra already. It was the obvious thing to do and would have kept your players safer, not incurred extra costs on yourselves, on us or the Hotel where you stayed and wherever else your squad stopped. Plus the game would have been played not causing a fixture backlog for both clubs.

Whoever made the decisions for Crewe after the positive test came back and coming to the ground/leaving the coach comes across as reckless in a week when local lockdowns and the measures have been increased significantly across the country. And the decisions by your club show utter disregard for the other Crewe players, their families and any vulnerable people they may have contact with.

As for Artell's interview, about all it was missing was chucking in "it is only a bit of Flu" with his disregard for Coronavirus considering he still wanted to play the game even after the positive test and the upward tick in the numbers across the UK.

*All players tested negative for Coronavirus but some weren't well enough to play still.
+assuming the reports are correct that he was the 2nd player tested positive
