I have a curious interest in the way Yorkshire teams see themselves. From my experience, all clubs (Leeds, Wednesday, Sheff Utd, Rotherham…. Not played Barnsley for a while so can’t comment about them) have done the “Yorkshire, Yorkshire” chant and portray how great the county is but then follow it up by singing about how much they hate every other club from Yorkshire. Always intrigues me.

Coz even the worst parts of Yorkshire are better places than anywhere outside the county, it’s just a fact of life.

Must be odd living in a place with no real football rivals in the county, do you even have rivals or are you too middle class for that
Years ago they had a great rivalry with a team in there own city.

Fortunately, unlike Yorkshire, we’re not stuck in 1965. ;-) Good knowledge, us and Cambridge City were apparently level pegging until we were elected to the league in 1970. But we’ve existed in different universes for the best part of 50 years now so nothing there anymore, in fact I wish them well.

Interestingly, Bradford Park Avenue apparently hold a grudge going back 52 years as our election came at their expense. Shows how backward that bloody county is.

As already said, huge match at Fratton Park v Peterborough. Decent test to see where we are with this squad. At home I fancy us with the crowd on top form against anyone. Joint top scorers in the league. So will be down to whose defence is better. We've generally had a small number of shots on target against us this season, so hopefully that continues. If we keep Peterborough to only 1 goal I think we win the match.

Derby away. 1700 tickets sold so far so should be a good crowd and a decent atmosphere. Would take a point
So lucky to get that game on a Saturday. The wonderful fixture computer has given us that one on a Tuesday night, in the week we also go to Home Park.

Ahead of playing Wickum this weekend, Fleetwood ( apparently ) are preparing a 3 rd and final bid to prise Cole Stockton away from Morecambe. The club must have fancied their chances when they let Ellis Harrison go to Vale. He did a good job for us and losing him weakened the team, hence the need to replace him. Everton forward Tom Cannon being considered, either way a real disappointment if we fail to secure one of these 2. We are rapidly becoming draw specialists in this league and this weekend could result in another stalemate. I'm waiting till Friday to give a definite on this game !

Our start to the season depends which side of the fence you're on. We've lost 1 in 9, but only won 2 of those (3 including the Barrow penalty shoot-out).

We've looked good in patches, but when we stop and veer away from what we were doing for whatever reason, we look really, really bad at times. But with an average age of around 22, those wild inconsistencies probably shouldn't be a surprise.

Are they still going? Our trip up there was certainly one to forget in our non league adventure
The self proclaimed "biggest club in Cambridge" do still exist, though they actually play just outside of Cambridge. Cambridge City actually beat the "biggest club in Cambridge" last season and the "biggest club in Cambridge" have since been relegated to Step 5 and play in the United Counties League Premier Division South.

You can't pretend to be rivals with Peterborough surely....
Think most fans would indeed say Pish are our rivals. The last decade younger fans probably started feeling increased animosity towards Luton, which was mostly down to being in the same league. Just before that period there was obviously Histon, their best period as a club coincided with our lowest. The club and their fan base's attitude and getting favoured by sections of the press upset a lot of our fans at the time. But throughout that time Peterborough were always considered the "enemy".

If you ask Pish fans most would say we were their biggest rivals, especially if they grew up during or after the 80s. We are both the only professional clubs in the county, and we are closer to eachother than Peterborough is to Northampton.

We are both small cities so a lot of our supporters come from the surrounding towns and villages. Places outside the two cities and in between like St Ives and Huntingdon are places where the rivalry is probably more prevalent maybe. Though I don't know many people from actual Cambridge with any positives to say about other place.

Is this any different to supporting the national team made up of players from various places and playing for various teams, alongside fans from clubs all over the country to then screaming at eachother during the club season?

Or even southern clubs chanting you "dirty northern bastards" at northern clubs whilst their own teams is half full of northerners?

Not sure how we'll get on Saturday against the Dingles. Our form against them over the last 20 years or so is almost exemplary but I've just got a horrible feeling they'll turn up on Saturday and they have the potential to cause an upset if they do. With our home form though we shouldn't fear anybody.

I think our chances depend a lot on what happens between now and the transfer deadline on Thursday. We're crying out for some steel in midfield. If we don't get an experienced player there, then it's going to be one very long season for us.
We need a striker and some defenders...so should't interfere with your plans to sign midfielders...we are fine in the keeping department at the moment, in case you need one of them too.

True, fair point. On a similar note, I liked it at the FA Trophy final last season when Wrexham fans booed God Save The Queen when most of their team is English.

Oxford away. We always get battered there.
Usually 5.
So that’s 7 or 8 this time with the keystone cops in charge.
If you concede five this time, forget JFH’s role as Manager, I’d go so far as to say that Burton should be expelled from professional football indefinitely.

Since my earlier text this week Fleetwood have been well busy in the transfer or should I say loan market. Admiral Muskwe from Luton and Lewis Warrington from Everton. Lord Admiral looks more than a handful and looking forward to seeing him. Tough match against Wickum tomorrow, it's got all the hallmarks of another draw, still with the new lads available we might just get over the line, 1-0 to the Cods

Sounds like we'll be without Sanders and Garrick tomorrow on top of Montsma, Jackson, Mandroiu and probably Walsh. Roughan went off injured last weekend, Hopper was rested in midweek with Scully sold yesterday and Kendall going out on loan this week.

Expecting a tough test from our close neighbours.
Hopefully it'll be a good game, played in a decent atmosphere.
If we play to our capabilities and can stop crosses going in down our left hand side or properly defend the crosses, we should be strong enough for 3 pts.
Never too Confident with Wednesday though.

Any idea when Mandroiu is back? Feel like we have been waiting a while! Good news for Cambridge that we sold Scully, believe he was involved in all 5 goals last year!

Accrington has not been a happy hunting ground for us, but surely this the season it changes?

That said, Accrington at 3/1 looks tasty although I'd never bet on any of our games, for or against.
