I like Minturn. He deserves his chance.

Looking forward to the trip to Harrogate, despite the reviews on here. My normal Saturday job is based in non-league anyway so I'm used to the facilities (or lack of) that comes with such a set up. It won't be worse than the likes of Cheshunt, but looks to be on a par with somewhere like Wealdstone?

Win and we could be 10 points clear of the bottom 2 which would be remarkable considering where we were at the turn of the year. Hopefully a couple of the players who missed Tuesday will be back for this one, particularly midfield as we were a bit samey with O'Keefe, Williams and Jefferies all starting. We've added full back Lewis Page this week but I'd be a bit surprised if he started this one, although his arrival should hopefully give a big kick up the arse to David Tutonda who must know he's basically on his last chance to perform or he'll be on the scrapheap come the summer.

Form against our immediate rivals has been very strong since January, and I think we'll win this 2-0.

I think it's alot different, Harrogates ground will be fine at national league North level where it belongs, there would be no issues what's so ever. But its not ready for football league, where they have large segregated followings. 600 Bradford fans is alot different to 50 Blythe Spatans, and they the match day experience for them also massively different. I'm guessing 75% of the league have sold out away at Harrogate which further proves the ground isn't ready for this level of football.

Proper clubs prioritise increasing the away capacity before the home end…..

As you’ll see tomorrow, Harrogate are far from the only club who are in a league or two higher than their ground is ready for. There are a couple of clubs who have been promoted from the National League rather unexpectedly, I include ourselves firmly in that category. Fortunately the EFL is a bit more accommodating in allowing clubs bringing everything up to standard (3 seasons to get everything ready.

I have no idea what Harrogate are doing to get their ground ready, but we’ve already built a new away end, and plans are being made to get the rest of the seats we need before 2024

He played like a prime Roberto Carlos when he first joined us, then turned into Roberta Carlos shortly after...

Before last weekend I'd have agreed with you, but then we went and put in our worst performance of the season...

I've no doubt DC will ring the changes, one or two coming back in who've been injured for two months, so it could be an unsettled side you're up against.
It won’t matter we are absolutely shite

We've got to lose again at home at some point, its been going a bit too well at home for me..........

We didn't play well in the second half at Grimsby last week, but fought hard to scrape a draw after Wellens made a few subs and Vigs saved the pen.

I would expect Darren Pratley to get his place back in the team, Tom James maybe dropped for Adam Thompson after his rather lazy second half performance last week when he gave Grimsby their second goal.

Paul Smyth has played a bit part for a few weeks, no idea if he might start again to try and get him going again for the run in. Our injuries have been slowly clearing up, but players need to get match fit again.

I think all signs point to a defeat. Would love to see the stats on cup upsets & that teams next league result.

Players weren’t partying by all accounts but the distance covered over 3 days is absolutely huge and fair play to any fan going up as well. We usually take good numbers to Carlisle but it’s a big ask, especially with Brighton coming up.

Cheap tickets or not, that's fantastic for a League Two fixture.
Saw on Twitter someone saying for a season ticket at Peterborough next season it’s north of £500! For mid table league 1 football and we’re the club that’s mocked ( I realise most do it just as banter but still).

I’d love to see all clubs take our approach and see grounds up and down the country packed every week. Maybe if more PL money trickles down the leagues, which it’s supposed to be doing in the next few years but I won’t hold my breathe, then maybe more clubs can afford this approach but most likely it would just get spent on a few more Sunday league journeymen.

I really do wish fans would unite instead of mock around affordable football because it shouldn’t be so out of reach for some especially with the cost of living crisis.

Heard there was a new TV deal for the EFL, doubling the present money.

I think £500 would price me and my dad out, and certainly plenty of other people. Really thankful for not just cheaper tickets, but also the option of paying by direct debit. My niece and nephew are coming along tomorrow. Hopefully they'll enjoy it and want to come more often. I'm surprised we've not had the 'quid a kid' promotion this season in order to get more future fans aboard.

Big sickness bug ravaging our squad this week. Unlikely to be able to name a full bench. Some will no doubt have to play through it.

Taking this into account, as well as the opposition being on the crest of a wave and having Anthony Glennon, I think it will be an away win.

All the promotion hopefuls seem to have easy home games except us.

If we can get back into the play offs by Saturday night it will be some achievement. First visit to this Plough Lane.
You have an easy game. We have so many injuries particularly in defence. Our season is over. A comfortable win for you.

After you predicted Grimsby 4-0 Carlisle earlier in the season before you beat us 2-1 we’re not falling for this bollocks again, so to counter this reverse psychology I’d like to predict:

Carlisle United 6-0 Grimsby.

But we haven’t just gone to a premier league ground and left with everything.

If it was us who had just beaten a Premier league team and were then up against Grimsby in the league, would you be saying the same positive things about us before the match?

No, you wouldn't!
It would be all 'Oh back to reality, bread and butter of the league stuff guranteed defeat, back down to Earth etc'.

Everyone sees through your nonsense now.

Seasons like this don't come around very often. I would feel sad for any fan of a club in a promotion battle who wasn't enjoying the ride. If we fail, then we fail but we may also finally succeed.

I understand keeping a sense of realism and a feet on the ground philosophy but pessimism is odd given our situation. I would question why that person follows football.

I hope that the reality is different to what he posts and he's currently ironing his lucky underpants chanting songs of victory.

The irony of you, Carver, complaining about someone talking nonsense.

If we’d knocked a premier league club out of the cup in their own back yard, I’d be positive about the next game, 100%.

Sadly that’s never happened in my time supporting this club.

My take on the game is that I believe it to be a great time to be playing Grimsby. The crest of a wave factor is very real but the thing with all waves are that they come crashing down.

IF we can play the game at a quick tempo and bag an early goal then it will be a big test of their legs and motivation.

Who said anything about me not enjoying the season? Where on earth have I said anything of sort? I didn’t enjoy those 3 games where we didn’t threaten to score. But other than it’s been largely enjoyable.

I would have been delighted with mid table, so top 3 or even playoffs is leaving me ecstatic.

If you think about it, if I expect defeat, it makes victory even more sweeter if it comes. The best moments are often the unexpected ones.

I never said that you weren't enjoying it?

Your defensiveness is on a par with your pessimism.

I've suffered from depression most of my life. It's taught me to approach life with a level head and use the facts of the situation to shape my mood. The facts of our situation are currently positive. Thinking negatively in a positive situation is unhealthy for the mind.

Realism on the other hand is totally acceptable, especially when you lived through the collapse of 2008.

Well you kind of did. Your post was clearly aimed at me and your words were “I would feel sad for any fan in a promotion battle not enjoying the ride”.

My pessimism stems from living through Carlisle United this past however many years. There’s always a kick in the bollocks just around the corner.
That’s why when we do win I enjoy it, I take it all in, live, sleep and breathe it all, I enjoy the weekend and bask in the glory of the 3 points as if it’s the last.

After nearly 3 years of continuous shite it’s a bit hard to cheer up and it’s not like we haven’t been here before. At least when I first started watching in the 70’s I knew we were shite and stayed that way for over 30 years, then came the good times but due to neglect we are back to those times again. If I were in my twenties I’d cope but as you get older shite in your life takes over and you look to your team to lift you out of the fog of drudgery, don’t get me wrong, I can cope with losing it’s a habit you get used to down here, it’s the abject couldn’t give a toss and zero excitement that boils yer piss. Rant over enjoy yer Friday I’m having a Whisky
