Our last two away games this season we have let in 12 (yep twelve) goals. If we are twice as good as our last two games were still looking at shipping in 3 !

It appears we only have one fit centre half. The 36 year old Tony Craig, who will be returning to his previous club, coupled with a crisis at left back where our summer signing, Gallacher, was handed a lesson in his two games so far and Tsaroulla is trying to recover from covid. Our defense is pretty much non existent.

Not at all confident but Yems tells us the lads we do have will fight for the shirt. Well, six goals in the last two games doesn't appear to be much of a fight to me.

I can see us parking the bus and trying to hit long balls over the top for Nadesan to chase. Doubt it will be pretty but if we can get a nil against I'll be happy.

Isn't Corby the largest town in the UK not to have a train station?

Also all this talk of Northamptonshire residents commuting to London reminds me of a comment Stuart Maconie made, regarding the fact that most southerners consider Northampton to be 'up north' and Watford Gap to be the entry point into the land of pies and whippets. He saw an advertisement for Northampton in something along the lines of 60 miles by road or rail, implying it was a good place to commute to London from and commented that Northampton couldn't be in the North, as no self-respecting northern town would try and make a virtue of its proximity to London.
I don’t know to be honest like any other self respecting Northamptonian I’ve very rarely been to Corby. Closest to I’ve got to a flock of them is at a Kevin Bridges gig in Northampton. 75% of the crowd talking with a Scottish accent.

FGR won first five games of season to go top of table but then lost the next/last three.
Exeter have an excellent record against their West Country cousins, so sadly I will not be overly surprised if they continue their winning ways against FGR.

Could end up winning 5 in a row then losing 5 in a row (hope not obviously). Would be an unusual sequence.

Rochdale have never won a league game at Vale Park in 20 odd visits… so we know great win yesterday, positivity flowing… que soft home defeat!

Need to really push on now and with Swindon away after this where we never win ever we could really do with another three points.

2-0 Vale Proctor and Wilson to finally bag one.
This will be a decent test. A real bogey away ground. We seem to be “clicking” now a few games in and have players back from covid and minor injuries. I’m confident of a decent game, we create a lot of chances. But would be happy with a point given our crap record at Vale.

Could go one of two ways; you’ll get tanned or we will.

Some fans up in arms over the last two defeats. Orient, admittedly, we were diabolical - especially given how well we had started the season. Last night vs Lincoln, we struggled against a very good, clinical side. We got walloped 5-0 when we played them last year. They reached the L1 play-off final and also reached the JPT semi’s. That, coinciding with our awful record against Lincoln, it does make you wonder why our lot weren’t anticipating a spanking last night.

Of course, the signing of Theo Robinson has gone down like a lead balloon - which hasn’t helped things.

If you start well and manage to snatch an early goal, it goal be a long, old afternoon for us.

Threlkeld and Sutton appear to be back fit, so that’s a bonus, at least.

GK: Richard O’Donnell

RB: Oscar Threlkeld
CB: Paudie O’Connor
CB: Niall Canavan
LB: Liam Ridehalgh

CM: Yann Songo’o
CM: Elliott Watt/Levi Sutton

RW: Alex Gilliead
CAM: Callum Cooke
LW: Charles Vernam

CF: Andy Cook

Robinson to score, coming off the bench. ;)

Oldham are struggling, look weaker this season, and did I read on here that Bahamboula is away on international duty?
I'd expect us to win this one, but we don't pick up many wins on the road. We still have a fair few injuries halting progress at the moment.

I think we've both been pretty good so far in terms of creating chances. We've just not taken them for the most part. Good test for our defence though which has been solid so far including shutting out FGR last weekend.

Does seem we are starting to come together as a team now. Little things such as movement off the ball are signs we are starting to gel as a team. At risk of repeating from previous match threads hopefully this is the time we decide to unleash Politic. Must admit I'm quite excited to see him play for us.

Where would you put him at the moment though? I can’t wait to see him play but there isn’t really a place on current form you could drop a player for IMO.

It’ll be Wilson and Proctor up front id expect. Conlon back in but not sure if for Garrity (harsh) or Walker.

He’s not a wing back so unless we went with wingers I couldn’t see him starting.

It’s great at the moment though we have a player of Politic calibre unable to get minutes due to form.

Wow, we've played Hartlepool a few times! No idea how this will go. We've got the ability to be decent, but one goal in 5 games tells a story.

Can't begin to guess our line-up, I could suggest a plausible starting XI and find half a dozen are wrong. Depends if anyone gets cast into outer darkness after what was apparently a shocker at Salford, and whether Telford gets brought back from outer darkness after playing really well in the Pizza Plate.

Funnily enough, Oldham looked quite impressive at our place last month, dominated possession, however, looked toothless up front.

Will be harder than you think

Hoping Demetriou is fit as we have been a shambles at the back without him, i can see flynn throwing cooper and cain straight in to form a midfield 3 with azzaz and i hope he gives young livermore a spot on the bench he deserves it after his performances at ipswich and against plymouth, i am not a lover of telford but he played well on tuesday and scored a screamer so should be given another chance up top with abraham, but then again i am not michael flynn so who knows what the team will be except flynn of course.

i think we've seen improvements in the organisation of 3 at the back system and it worked wonders v FGR, but the squad is still very suited to 4-3-3 with Wozza, amoo, politic, rodney, hurst for cover even.

i think a back 4 should be fine especially if we're playing two more deep seated cms - walker and pett.

it's a good problem to have but as has been said i can't wait to unleash our wingers on someone - imagine being a league two full back up against worral and politic and then we bring on rodney and amoo for the last half an hour? carnage

Harold Bell alone played against us 24 times. That's more times than seven of this season's L2 opponents.

Harrogate started well, and I worry about our defence again which at CB will either be Rawson/Hewitt or Hewitt/Nartey if he’s ready you would imagine with Perch out. Clough may need to give them more protection, especially Rawson who lets ball bounce a lot which will suit the opposition very well in particular this Saturday.

The fact rawson is still in the side is a sense of great frustration, he had a half decent end to last season but the lads a fraud.

Hewitt got relegated twice in a row and looked every bit that player to date (though playing him at RB didn’t help.

the defence was the Achilles heel last season, the fact that the same mistakes keep happening isn’t amusing - the goals for preston, the mistake against newport, the 2 down the right for bradford it’s a nonsense.

We’ve got a great midfield and i’m pleased the keeper options have improved but we shouldn’t be still talking about this.

I’m hoping the defensive reinforcements on transfer day make a difference otherwise a very promising season could turn quickly into something more tepid.

We’ve had a hard start and 7th is good enough for now.

Fraud is harsh for me, we need better but he can do a job at this level. Adam I think it’s fair to say you and myself spent most of last season moaning about our GK and strikers more than the defence! Also Hewitt was brilliant against Colchester and got chucked under the bus at Bradford for me although was poor, but that’s opinions for you!

Harrogate will make the game scrappy, and probably a bit crap overall but we’ve just gotta deal with it.

Hewitt is clearly better in the middle, what made clough move him to RB against bradford was beyond me, it was obvious at 2-1 it was obvious at 2-2 and well….. irrespective we’ve got to be doing better and smarter.

I think last season the defence was my big annoyance with the errors we made, i just hope we can eradicate them going forward.

I genuinely think if he can sort the defence weve a genuine chance of promotion, i really do, the midfield is that good - that lapslie has been indifferent so far and we’ve managed just fine speaks volumes. the forwards are still wasteful and i hope we improve there but we’re clearly better now we’re not playing reid and bowery (though i’m pleased we kept the latter).

the reason i expect a win is that in fairness we drew at colchester when we should have been out of sight, bradford we basically beat ourselves and swindon was harsh - weve not for the points our performances overall deserve.

By all accounts solid, discounting Southampton who were sensational and Salford where apparently no-one did themselves justice. Clarke captained the team once.

If we’re going to have a serious tilt at mid table mediocrity then we should fancy ourselves to roll these over.
I fancy at least 0-0, 1-1 if we’re lucky.
Cass looked ok the other night, dropped.
Johnson was terrible I’d expect him start.
Poundland pep still needs to work out how to shoehorn Worral and Rodney into his system, because it just isn’t working for me.
I’d leave Rodney out.

Expecting a hard game at Tranmere, definitely our toughest looking game so far as they were fancied at the start of the season. A few new signings will boost them, Hawkes will inevitably have a stormer, hopefully they don't pick him.

As for us, it should be an unchanged side although a few carrying niggles from the Carlisle match. Dont fancy us to get anything. Point will be a good result. I'll estimate around 800 travelling Poolies.

According to our local rag we have 7 players come down with the virus, others are being tested today so a good chance our game will be off.

Edit,, 4 with the virus 3 in close contact will all miss the game, but flynn says he will put a side out of some sort so the game will go ahead.
