For such a straight-talking character, why is Yems happy to be part of the Mark Wright publicity stunt?
My only guess is that he and Mark are friends from years ago. They do know each other from years ago and Yems has a reputation of giving friends a chance.

Mark isn't a bad player but he isn't league 2 standard. If he was turning out for a National league side he would probably do a decent job. Mind you he was thrown into a cauldron today. The midfield we played was utter dross. Maldini would have been in trouble with that in front off him.

I'm so pissed off at the moment. I never expected us to push for the play offs but I did expect a team that knew what they were doing and were well coached. The last four games we look clueless and have the set up of a Sunday league side.

John Lewis only came on near the end you numpty and he looked excellent too for that matter.

Created our best chance of the game too, unfortunately Payne under pressure couldn't quite get enough on it to turn it past Townsend.

Impressed with the new signings except Bunny, he gave the ball away too much including when not under any pressure. Adams looks a player and I wish Matete was the one dropping back to pick the ball up from defence rather than Clifton as I feel he would have created far more.

Unfortunately we are in a rut that is hard to get out off. But 7 of Hursts signings in the starting 11 and we looked good, one win could change things, just hard to see where that is coming from, if we had these players at the start of the season or even start of Jan and we wouldn't be in this position now.

Says it all when only one of Holloways signing is in the matchday squad.

Very professional from us today, played very well and really kept the pressure on Barrow throughout. Hoolahan and Knoyle were both brilliant, but there were good performances all through the team. Defence needs mentioning as it’s some effort to gain clean sheets with the changes we’ve had to make in recent weeks and Drysdale really stepped up today in Digby’s absense. Barrow looked nothing like the side we played at ours earlier in the season but you can only beat who’s in front of you.

Long way to go but we’re in a great position.

That’s our best away performance since Scunthorpe for me, dominated majority of the game and should have scored more.

only flaw is our keeper, time will tell whether he proves me wrong.

our January signings seem to have settled in well and hoolahan is just a joy to watch, I’d take him playing once a week than not having him at all.

get the coconuts on my fellow u’s

Magfeckingnificent. The only disappointment today was not being there for the best away day in the country.

Wes Hoolahan and Kyle Knoyle, class apart. The rest not much further behind.

Possibly the most demoralising result of the season even though there's been worse results.

All these signings improved us on paper but on the pitch we are as bad as ever.

Everything about your club is just so tinpot, I'd be embarrassed.

Football league is a step too far for you lot.

What I will say now I’ve calmed down from the frustration as easy as we made it defensively, Tranmere are by far the best side we’ve played this season. Both times. Absolutely head and shoulders as well. They will be champions i feel come May.

Yep they were excellent at ours earlier this season and I’m not surprised they’ve reached the top three now. I’m more surprised they’ve only started showing form now.

He looked so excellent he failed to score against 10 men, that is truly excellence.
Yeah if he was any good he would’ve scored 3 in the 9 minutes he was on the pitch.

I thought Vale started brightly, but didn't heed the warning when Danny Lloyd hit the cross-bar and Vaughan netted a few minutes later. After that we were mostly on top, even after gifting the visitors a goal towards the end of the first half. Towards the end, when Vale were dominating possession, their attack seemed strangely toothless, after some of the difficulties they were causing us with set pieces in the first half.

Bit surprised at the choice of scapegoats. Maybe Brown could have done better for Rovers 3rd goal, but he made 3 or 4 decent saves, which kept the score-line respectable. None of the Vale defenders looked significantly worse than their team-mates. If I were a Valiant's fan I'd be pointing fingers at Guthrie, whose main contribution was coming close to a red card for persistently whining at the referee. Think Rodney can play in the middle of attack, and given he got little change out of Otis 'Kafu' Khan at right-back and didn't fare much better switched to the other side, puzzled why he wasn't given a central role.

I don't think Vale are in any danger of going down, though as my pre-season title tip, don't think they'll come close to the automatics either.

Very nice of you to say so. A long way to go yet and I’m sure COVID and injuries will throw a spanner or two in some of the challenging teams hopes of promotion. Not taking anything for granted as a long suffering Rovers fan have seen us throw it away before.
With everything right behind the scenes at Vale Park I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before things click on the pitch.

Keith Hill certainly knows his onions! What on earth were Bolton thinking?

Classic away performance from Cambridge. Very composed in midfield and plenty of width from the full backs. I think Cambridge, Tranmere and Salford for automatic promotion

The terrible start under Mike Jackson, who was out of his depth sadly, is the reason it has taken us so long to get going.

However, like BITDSS, after 30 odd years of watching Rovers I am not counting any chickens.

Defensively we haven’t heeded the warnings since you beat us in November and have been a car crash since.

Montano was good today but the others were pants. Smith wasn’t too bad at times but Crookes is out fourth choice centre half really and Mills is terrible. Gibbons plays we make a better fist of dealing with the flank.

We looked dangerous at times but confidence is low and once the third went in and you sat deeper we couldn’t break down. We played Scunthorpe sitting deep like that for 180 minutes over two games and didn’t score!

Guthrie was poor today but didn’t get any service at all. Rodney is a mixed bag. He’s outstanding form wise and we play him wide and up top but probably isn’t the finished article up front, he’s best coming in from the flank and rifling a thunderbolt.

Even Wozza was flat today.

Only positive I thought Monty was good and the debutant striker Swan looked decent, physical as well so may be worth a go.

Tranmere are still good.
I don’t think they played as well today as they did at our place, we made a game of it that day, today we didn’t.
We are miles away from that standard, but, in fairness we didn’t give up, shit as we are, we still tried.
I loved the commentary , especially the co-commentator, a bit of comedy on a glum afternoon.

I'd like to think you're right with the first two. Not seen enough of Salford to call it for them, don't seem to have blended well given the funds thrown at them and would rather it went to Carlisle or Forest Green.

Me neither. I think Keith Hill had a bit of a rocky start too, but hope the momentum we're building now can see us through, we seem to have reasonable depth in most areas of the squad now.

Good to hear opposition fans and media complimenting our team, you dont often hear that as a U's fan. I have no clue where we'll finish but this team is very special. Kyle Knoyle must be the best right back in the league and is looking destined for the championship. Hoolahan potentially the best ever player I've seen in a U's shirt, given me so much joy to watch him during this pandemic.

Glad I didn't bother watching or listening to the game most obvious win you will ever get. Nobody has to do anything special to score past us even a average side like Mansfield put 4 past us.

I cant be arsed with this club anymore travelled up and down the country the last 15 years watching them home and away and now they won't get a penny from me im finished with them. Gutless pathetic worst bunch of players I've ever seen.

Knoyle left Swindon to come to us because he wanted to move back to London. So yes I can see him joining a club like Charlton or Luton.

We might just get a chance to keep him if we go up but highly unlikely with the his stats which will stand out to all scouts given he’s a right back.

Ale and Vale podcast starts the review with a disclaimer “swearing due to the commentary today”

Before starting the review with a huge rage over the commentary.... “even when he turned his fucking mic off you can still fucking hear him” some entertainment at least on a shit day!

Listening to it now.
One thing I will say in defence of our commentary is that they are all amateur and get paid little or nothing for their endeavours. I thought they were more tuned in to the state of play than BBC radio Stoke were for the reverse fixture. In my opinion Dave Higgins should replace Gary Lineker on MOTD lol.
Anyway each to their own. Good podcast by the way, these lads should be doing your match commentaries.

Interesting views on the tackle by Spearing in fairness.

The main guy wasn’t too bad but Dave was talking over him, making weird noises, didn’t know some of the laws of the game (Clarke’s is obstruction every day of the week!) and had no idea of the names of our players.

At half time he then starts arguing in the back ground

Don’t condone the abuse towards them on Twitter mind, especially on the TRFC radio where they’ll probably see it.
