Does paying for a season ticket for my daughter at MK Dons count as supporting the local team? Please say yes, as a fellow scouser I'm desparate for your approval.

It really is a point that is tricky to get anywhere with, but I think basically they are 'lesser' fans who will never feel the same pain/joy as we do

So hang on, the thread title is armchair supporters, the opening post seems to be about glory supporters. Which is it that you're talking about?

I believe that's the club crest Swansea City ripped off in 1998. Bloody Welsh.

Yes and no, some people cannot afford tickets nowadays but then there are certain fans who think they are number one fan when they watch motd and reckon they use to go every week or can't get a ticket, you can't beat the real thing of a live game at the stadium.

Personally I don't understand how you can really care about a club from following games on TV half way across the country or even half way across the world. I'm horrible when I can't make a game and have to try watching Bournemouth on TV (or listen on radio when we were even more tinpot). But I was lucky (or unlucky) enough to have been brainwashed as a kid going to games so it's all I know. That was helped by the tickets being cheaper in 1990s Division Two .

Fair enough I understand why folks can no longer afford to go in some cases, having been regulars in the past. However there's millions who have only ever watched their club down the pub on Sky every weekend, so it must work. I just fail to see how that attachment and emotional connection develops in the first place.

 I know it's unintentional, but so many snide remarks you could make to that!

I used to be a fairly regular match goer, but I'm an armchair fan these days and have no issues admitting it. I no longer live on Merseyside (150 miles away to be precise) and have a wife and three kids to provide for. Quite simply, I have more important things to spend my money on and more important things to spend my time doing. If that makes some people feel superior then they're welcome to fill their boots. None of the above stops me loving football.
