Well at least until a club in the FL come calling.
Well that wouldn’t be a new thing would it?

Manager leaves job for a club in a higher league on a likely higher wage in national league SHOCKER !!

Personally I’m not gunna worry about a hypothetical scenario unless it becomes a reality. It makes a nice change actually having a sought after manager for once!!

Haha I thought the same. He'll be away, can't blame the geezer. I think he's smart enough to know he wants to move somewhere with money to spend though. He basically gets the resources he needs here within reason so I don't think he'll jump at the first opportunity, but probably the first 'right` opportunity

Basically seems we asked cos he spent the majority of his playing career in Suffolk and Essex!

Harris isn't so far fetched, Southend fan, think he's still living in Southend. Doesn't fit the bill of 'knows the division' though.
Can't believe for one second Currie actually wants the job, I can't believe anyone would really want the job. None of the off field issues have gone just because Ron has admitted some past errors and Stan is now helping out. Whoever comes in will have to deal with the random allocation and distribution of wages, the mythical stadium chatter and Ron poking his nose into everything they do.

Weird that the Daily Mail’s breaking exclusives on this league, though.

Less weird when you click on the journo’s past stories and the last one he did on this league was ‘James Rowe set to be offered new contract’. Wonder where he’s getting his info from?

Just makes a change for us to do things formally and up front, at least Stan has bought that to the table. Onto the next page of his big black book of contacts. He had a shortlist of 18, of which 7 he had spoken to on Saturday evening saying that they were interested. So the next few days could be very interesting. In a zoom call on Sunday evening, the plan was stated as having the new man in place for the Daggers fixture and asking for a truce in the protests to give the new man and the players full support as they bed in together.

watch this space.......

Ladies and gentlemen, good evening!

A very productive day interviewing candidates for the role of manager of Southend United Football Club.

The interview list as outlined includes immediately available candidates and candidates in situ at other clubs.

I won't talk about other clubs other than to say when Southend United are looking to recruit individuals, we will do it through official channels. It encourages good communication between clubs, engender trust and integrity.

Ron, Gary, Tom and I heard excellent pitches from all candidates, good humour, honesty and plenty of insight from all made the day a very worthwhile exercise.

We're on track to deliver you a manager with vision, can breathe new life and direction into the club along with a restructure of the football department which will give the club every chance to move forward quickly.

A long list don't forget so worry not about names putting themselves in the frame or not showing interest, this is all factored into the process.

A refreshing change.

We go again tomorrow and Friday.

Stan

I don't think Dean Keates would be a bad shout to be honest.

Davro was mistreated by the Wrexham lads on here. I've got an alliance with the Wrexham lads on here so not going to name names. It is what is. But the NL was a better place with Keates in it IMO.

Dean Keates is definitely a name that has had a lot of airing on Shrimperzone and would of those that would go down well with the fanbase. The one question that has come up is would he be prepared to come south?

Got to be Smith or Currie, surely?

Yes- Tripping yourself up in the penalty box is a great competence but doesn’t really add much to a football management cv
I hope you're not trying to disparage to best human being to ever play the beautiful sport of football...?

I’m sure a Grimsby fan would never have a bad word to say about one of their own, never mind the fact that the man in question is King Jack?

… Would they?

Of course not - he won loads of pens for us with his dancing in the penalty box - refs couldn’t work out whose foot caused the trip the defenders or his…a puzzling management appointment but seems good with the kids

Neither of those how you spell Keates aka Davro.

Loved his Youtube interviews.

Jim Gannon is also a name being mentioned. Stan has gone on record stating one of the requirements is a knowledge of this league.

Mark Bentley, one of our former players now managing Canvey Island and Mark Stimson also being mentioned, although Stimson's record at Gillingham isn't doing him any favours tbh.

Mark Stimson did very well at this level with Stevenage, had them top of the league by miles before coming to us. I liked his style of football on the whole and he did get us promoted from league 2.

There is that season where we went without an away win in league 1 for the entire term which led to our final day relegation though. We did have some excellent results at home that year, unbeaten against all of the top eight that year if my memory serves correct.

The same Mark Bentley who played for us for yonks too?

Absolutely, the very same. He came to you from us, released too early from ourselves, because we wouldn't give him a go in the Championship.

Blimey didn’t realise he’d gone in to management but not surprised. I’m racking my brain about who that defender is who played for us both whose name gets chucked in whenever we need a new manager?
