Thing is, individually we have some of the best defenders in the league, especially Sam Hird. Personally looking at the goals..

Goal 1) Anyon should be catching that, simple as! It's in his 6 yard box. Must admit that's a real worry, as there will be many a league 2 team that put the ball on our keeper from set plays...

Goal 2) A more experienced player than Wakefield takes Dembele out early on in his run, simple as that, which would then of course prevent the goal...

Goal 3) a case of switching off imo... by that point we were all out attack, Evo had been on the left wing moments before!!! They got a lucky break of the ball, and evo makes a desperate challenge!!

Definitely an area to work on, but I don't think we'll have too many defensive woes this season

When we had Anyon 7 or 8 years ago he wouldn't come for crosses either. I think the Vale fans warned us of that when we signed him from them.

Chesterfields forum had a 14 page thread on how this was our cup final (a little research would tell you differently) and how their town was set to be smashed up.

Our knickers are perfectly straight. It's just amusing to see the smug levels drop slightly from some of you lot. The first glimpses of realisation setting in that perhaps we aren't going to be utterly crap this season.

It's not just us. I can't think of a side who travels in fairly big numbers for the Conference/League 2 that don't have a lot of idiots?

It seems like there was a bit of trouble, but that it wasn't all one way traffic and as previously mentioned there were some fabricated Police Twitter stories to try and deter people away from puns which is shocking if true.

Unless we're fighting relegation, I think we'll probably be one of, if not the only, club that will have consistently large away followings (unless the Cowley's head gets even bigger and Lincoln win the CL).

I didn't see a single bit of trouble apart from the pitch invader (who was booed off) I've also yet to see any confirmation of trouble apart from the fabricated story from the police on twitter.

I think the police in general do a fantastic job but to outright lie about trouble is a disgrace.

We travel well in this division Paul, although not as well as you I don't believe. It's had a massive influence though that the last 3 years we've spent in L2 have seen us win the title twice.

If we're up and around the promotion spots then we normally see a hardcore of away support of around the 700 mark for the longer distance Saturday games, and the more local ones like yourself I'd imagine us taking at least 1500 or more depending on where we sit in the league.

It has become fashionable to follow THE TOWN again. Started on our last season in Non-League after 'Operation Promotion' (although our numbers were fairly high for non-league before then), the support just grew and grew, winning away helps of course, but word got around what fun we were having and now it is more of a 'day out' than just 90 minutes of football.

Sadly we do have more than our fair share of 'idiots' who take great pleasure in showing themselves and our club up: but the vast majority are decent folk and enjoy watching the game, usually in a loud and proud way.
