Surely these players are scouted or am i behind the times !
Evatt must have seen him playing for Barnet and his judgement is that he is good enough to play in a promotion winning team in league 2.

What are your current thoughts on Evatt’s judgement? Seem to recall you were significantly bigging him up previously :)

We have a DOF Tobias Phoenix who along with Evatt does the recruiting. Evatt recruited well for Barrow on a limited budget.
He is in the local press this morning saying Doyle will get 20+ goals this season and we will get it right.
I am a buying into his positivity [you know that from here] I am at a loss why he does not play the best players at the club. And why he seems to only play one System.
Bolton have a squad/team to Easily get out of this league, but he needs them on the pitch and not the bench or stands.

Luke Hannant, my God. Shows how far we've come in a short space of time that while he was with us he was arguably one of our better players! Nothing against him as he is a trier and always gives 100%.

Interesting. Hannant has been a very good player for us, and was excellent for us yesterday. Port Vale seem to have recruited very well but sometimes players just don't work out at certain clubs. Amoo was made of glass for us but I see the wank fest going on at vale park for him. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't.

Yeah, not judging him for how he has been since he joined you. My issue with him in a Vale shirt was that he didn't really contribute much (goals or assists) going forward, but was also too lightweight to be considered a defensive midfielder. He's a 'busy' sort of player so I can imagine him being best in a midfield three.

Sorry to quote you twice but I have just seen this since posting it. Well there was your problem. He's never been a defensive midfielder so can understand why he didn't perform with goals or assists.

Behind the times mate. It's proper sophisticated now. They use FM stats and compilation videos off of YouTube these days.

Did you see that goal? And that clearing header v Maidenhead? Or the way he booted it down the pitch v Chorley? What a player. Plus his defending is 13 and 12 physical on FM 20. Quick sign him up.

Hannant was decent enough for us but he played in some shocking teams which didn’t help. His work rate was very good just never seemed to do much else. Most of that I blame on Aspin who had some good players but just didn’t know anything about coaching/tactics/formations etc so the players never really got a sense of what role they were meant to do. When Askey came in he played on the left wing a fair bit and those were his best performances for us.

Was a little surprised when we let him go but personally am glad we have Amoo now as he suits what we want to do better than Hannant did. Am sure it’s very much vice versa for Hannant and Cambridge so a good swap all round I’d say.

I never thought Hannant was too bad and in fairness under Aspin many didn’t perform, maybe he’d have improved like Worrall, Conlon etc did once Askey came in and stopped us playing mega defensively. He works hard so maybe have fitted in with our high press.

Askey wanted a certain type of character in the dressing room and the likes of Miller, Hannant and Whitfield were let go but he’s not a bad player.

Got a handful of goals for us anyway in an awful side.

Amoo has quality and on his day is unplayable (Exeter at home for example where he tore Randall and Dickensen apart and putting Pope’s goal at the Etihad on his noggin) but on others he can be quiet; hence why he’s league two I guess. He has a massive battle when fit to get back in now though with Rodney performing so well and McKirdy signed.

He wasn't a defensive midfielder for us. He often played out wide, but despite all his effort he didn't really contribute going forwards with goals or assists. He was far from our worst player at the time though, and always seemed like a good bloke. So I have no problem with him performing well for you guys and wish him well.

Interestingly Mansfield’s starting XI against Tranmere were numbered 1 to 11. Cant recall that happening since squad numbers were introduced.
