He received a Pay CUT. That’s why he looked for alternatives, there’s absolutely no way with the cap being in place we could give him a pay rise.

And it’s Krystan Pearce, one of the best CB you will find at this level.

Couldn't even find a place in the match day squad for Crooks, Fitzpatrick, Whitehead or Pope!

We genuinely have the strongest squad we have had for many, many years. I'd say our second 11 would beat most of the Vale sides we've had in previous seasons. Not going to take anything for granted as L2 can shock you in a big way, but if we don't at least make the play-offs this season then we're in a very decent league!

Very solid throughout and some serious talent on the wings. No longer the issue we had last season where if there was a suspension or injury then it was Callum Evans or Ryan Lloyd next up.

Only slight difference I have on the above is the subs bench I do include Crookes over either Brisley or more likely Mills as he can fill multiple positions and Smith can shift over to right back if worst came to worst but that is only minor really.

Agree as said our second XI this season is strong enough to compete, which after years full of deadwood outside the XI is superb improvement.

I'd say first XI is

Brown

Gibbons
Legge
Smith
Montano

Joyce
Burgess
Conlon

Worrall
Amoo
Robinson

Which leaves a potentially second XI

Visser

Mills
Brisley
Crookes
Fitzpatrick

Whitehead
Hurst/DTS
Oyeleke

Rodney
McKirdy

Cullen

Leaving Pope out altogether!

Regards Pope he’s going to find that 6 game ban might as well be about 15 if the other forwards do what we hope. The thing I most like about Askey is he doesn’t do favourites and if someone takes their chance the bigger name will be sat on the bench a while.

We have 8 yes 8 centre halfs on our books

Why so many? Better to have quality over quantity surely?

We have 3 out and out CB's on our books, but have a few versatile players to cover and have often been playing 1 or 2 full backs in our back 3 during pre-season/cup games. So hopefully you aren't a tall side or we'll be fucked at set pieces.

That squad absolutely pisses all over Bolton’s, for example.

8 CBs and no cash in the bank. Sounds sensible.

Luke Hannant, my God. Shows how far we've come in a short space of time that while he was with us he was arguably one of our better players! Nothing against him as he is a trier and always gives 100%.

Hannant has been really good for us so far - one of our better players and has probably had more impact than Amoo did, albeit they're very different players.

All fit, ours would (possibly, fuck knows) be:

McKeown

Luke Hendrie
Bilel Mohsni
Matty Pollock - graduated from the yoofs a year early, still only 18 and rumoured interest from PL clubs
Danny Preston

Terry Taylor
Danny Rose
George Williams

Sean Scannell
James Hanson
Owura Edwards

That leaves:

GK:
Sam Russelll
Ollie Battersby - came through the yoofs previously

DEF:
Luke Waterfall
Ludvig Ohman
Duncan Idehen - came through the yoofs
Joey Hope - came through the yoofs
Joe Starbuck - came through the yoofs

MID:
Elliott Hewitt
Harry Clifton - came through yoofs previously
Max Wright - came through yoofs previously
James Tilley
Cameron Painter - came through the yoofs
Jock Curran - came through the yoofs

ATT:
Matt Green
Ira Jackson Jr
Alhagi Sisay
Montel Gibson

Our yoof set up working overtime to give us some sort of a squad at the minute

Yeah, not judging him for how he has been since he joined you. My issue with him in a Vale shirt was that he didn't really contribute much (goals or assists) going forward, but was also too lightweight to be considered a defensive midfielder. He's a 'busy' sort of player so I can imagine him being best in a midfield three.

Wow where has Bilel Mohsni been dug up from?! Completely missed him signing for Grimsby.

Surprised Bolton didn't sign him, decent cover at CB.

we had 4 centre backs on our books..two are youngsters one injured. Evatt signed basketball players Taft 6/4 Santos 6/6 Grenidge 6/7 to go alongside Delaney 6/6......so yes its a tall backline

Starting 11 against FGR is not our best 11. All Evatt signings again including three Centre backs Greenidge high hopes but missed 4 pre season games. Santos who had a shocker against Bradford and Baptiste who is to slow and small to play in the centre.
Crawford dropped to the bench despite setting both goals up against Crewe midweek. No place on the bench for Darcy.
So will give go with Evatt but i hope he is not writing players already here off.
