Sounds like he is about to get the sack.

What a mess they are in at the moment

Not sure why any manager in their right mind would even think once let alone twice about going there

It's a shame they are a massive club but Ashley is destroying them.

Be fair Jarv, with the money he's spent McClaren is doing a fucking terrible job.
Hopefully it continues for another week.

Go down, get Pearson, get back up, beat up opposition players, don't employ family members, don't go anywhere abroad in the preseason, don't give him shit from the stands or in press conferences. Newcastle will be back in the top 10.

Is SM on a massive contract like Pardew was on when he was at Newcastle?

I can see them going down, coming straight back up, first season back getting mid table and then Ashley will sell their best players and not replace them...
They'll be back in this situation in about 3/4 years if Mike Ashley is anything to do with the club.

They definitely have the squad to just about pull out of it if the right man came in, but I think Sunderland under Allardyce will start picking up points, so it'll be very hard even with the quality of player they have at the club.

Fuck off, that was my masterplan for Villa.

but I think Sunderland under Allardyce will start picking up points.

He will love nothing more than winning at St James' Park to really put a nail in Newcastle's coffin!

Reports going on about Benitez or Moyes being eyed. Benitez will want huge changes and great opportunity for Moyes to rebuild his career.

However despite his issues...Pearson is the best fit. He turned things round at Leicester and if they went down he is the perfect guy to bring them back up.

I don't think he'd touch the job personally. No chance. Chelsea, Napoli, Real Madrid.... Newcastle. Nope.

You say that but David Sullivan has said a few times that Benitez was basically a done deal becoming our manager, Before then of course Real Madrid gave him a call.

I could see him at Newcastle next season.

I doubt Benitez would touch the job with a barge pole. There's a very good chance they will go down and I'm sure he wouldn't want to tarnish his CV with a relegation. Same goes for Moyes. His last two jobs haven't exactly gone well so I don't think the prospect of being the man to take Newcastle down would do much to enhance is reputation. Pearson is an ideal candidate for me. He's a nut job but a decent manager at the same time. I'm sure if he did take over and they still went down he'd be a good candidate to get them promoted at the first attempt.

Benitez would be a coup for Newcastle, no way should they be able to attract a manager of his calibre. Sure, he's had a rough time over the past five years, but he's managed at a level far above Newcastle. He could get a job with a European contender in a bunch of leagues.

McClaren was doomed from the outset, one of the more baffling hires of recent history.

Apparently he's found out via the media.

Not like Newcastle to handle something this badly.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
New Manager syndrome for the weekend? Very odd to leave it this late in the week. Why not do it quicker to give the 'caretaker' some chance to do something?

What a total basket case they are. Run by an absolute bellend who couldn't organise a piss up in...well, Newcastle.

Probably the right decision and I do think that they have enough talent in the likes of Perez, Mitrovic, Wijnaldum, Sissoko and the like to stay up, especially over Norwich and Sunderland. Getting in Benitez is also a good move. I mean, who would inspire you to go out and play, receding Steve or Rafa? Have they left it too late though?

Would Rafa take them on with a multi-year contract and accept working in the Championship if needed, or just a 3 month deal in an attempt to stay up? Will be interesting to see...

We told Ryan Taylor and Gutierrez they wouldn't be getting new contracts over the phone, this club seems to have very little class these days...

Been a long time admirer of Newcastle, used to love watching them when i was a kid. Its horrible to see whats happened to them. Hopefully rafa can keep them in the prem and bring some consistency.
