7,000 to go on the dissertation now. Still got 10,000 words including the other essay. Getting there though!

Hit 9k. About 2 thousand left I need to write I reckon. Looking at getting it printed next week then just a 3k and 5k essay left to do. Shit's getting real.

I've got 5,000ish to go on the dissertation, plus a final 3,000 word essay. Slowly but surely I'm getting there, although I am going to need to up the pace. I did some calculations the other day though and with the way my final grade is calculated, I can afford to get something appalling on the dissertation and still get a 2.1. I would probably take that because I don't think a first is attainable.

I have two essays to do for my Associateship of King's College, and then that's me finished with education. (Until I hate the working world and do a PhD).

Handed my dissertation in last Friday, fairly happy with it in the grand scheme of things. Got 3k due Thursday (about 1k left to do) and then 5k due on the 5th and that's coursework over for me. Can't wait.
How'd yours end up stringy?

Sorry to hear that mate, UCLan is a decent uni.. What course we're you applying for?
I was trying to get on the Foundation Sports Journalism course.
It was always a long shot as qualifications wise I'm very limited, but I hoped with being a mature student, having a huge interest in the subject, having done some Volunteering and with a good reference and personal statement it might have been enough to prove myself on the foundation course. I think it is possible to get on if I complete an access course but still trying to weigh up whether or not to go down that route.

I had to complete an access course.. Was expensive but worth it, I'm now at UCLan.

It was about £3500, but I don't start paying back until either next year or earning over 21k.. If labour get in and reduce tuition fees then it would make no difference to you adding it on!

To be honest it gave me a good build up for uni, I'd have struggled going straight in after years out of education.. I'd suggest doing it just for that.

Yeah seems like you were in a similar situation to me. It's just about weighing up the risk of potentially wasting 5 years at my age. I would probably having to live at home, be permanently skint and then throw myself out there into a very competitive field with no guarantees.

What degree are you taking?
What subject did you do when taking the access course?

Got a 1500 word assignment on dealing with a mental health scenario, a follow up poster on mental health that I we have to put time and effort into. A long piece of course work on multiple scenarios on Police procedure, and a follow up report/diary on how we came to that conclusion later. Lastly have an exam on Law on the 12th of May.

Need to do all of that and revise for the exam in about 2 weeks.

I'm doing social work, did a Pyschology and sociology access at Manchester college.
It was tough but I'm starting to feel like it's been worth it now I've almost finished my first year.. Spending so long trying to get to uni can leave you pretty disillusioned.

Got our 2nd year dissertation marks back (/long essay) and managed to get a 1st....however the University has somehow managed to 'irreversibly lose' our breakdown of marks/rubric feedback so we cant see the sections we did best and worst in just individual comments in text. -.-

Cmon guyz, nobody gives a shit how many words you have to write for your fucking essays. What we really want to know is how pissed you were last Monday evening and how much pussy you got in a year!

Kids these days...

I have spent so much time on Gov.uk the past 2 or 3 days I had a nightmare last night of forever scrolling through acts looking for the relevant paragraph to a case, and never finding it.

Help me

Sorry, only just seen this. Congrats on finishing.

I handed everything in and I only ended up doing one all nighter. I don't think I did an outstanding job though, the assignments were coming thick and fast and I noticed after I handed in the dissertation that I made a stupid error on the cover page. I had a 3,000 word essay in two days before the dissertation hand in which took away a lot of valuable editing time, although that doesn't excuse the sloppy error.

Anyway I was on a fairly high 2:1 but not exactly troubling a first or a 2:2, so really I just needed to go through the formality of handing something in. All things considered I'm pretty happy with the whole uni experience. Had a load of booze in first year, got a girlfriend in second year and finally a conditional offer for a PGCE in third, so I can't grumble!

Big day for me.

Handing in 4 assignments at around 12pm.
Waiting for 2 hours revising outside exam room.
2 1/2 hour legal system exam.
Home at 6:30 hopefully with a chippy.

If all goes well and I pass all of them, then today will be my final day of my first year at Uni.

I would like to say I'm bricking it but I'm not, I just want it all over a done with.
