We've had 2/3 months and a good budget to sort our defence and goalkeeper out, and we simply haven't done it. Pathetic second half performance. Byrne's goal where he simply walks through our defence was absolutely hilarious to watch.

Didn't get why McMahon was fancied instead of Liddle, baffling decision.

Unlucky lads. Long old season for Bradford - piss poor team.

Well done Swindon. Expect you to be in the top 2 with us.
Not a piss poor team at all. First half they should have been 3 up and looked strong.

2nd half we would have blown most teams away.

Only 1 game gone and still fancy them in the top 6

As an aside, isn't it quiet without those Slave Traders!

Afternoon all

I hope you have enjoyed the summer months - it's good to be back.

Early days but it looks as if Mr Power has put together another top, top side for this level with some very talented footballers so I await with interest how we fare.

A humiliation for our northern visitors yesterday, a real average side put together by Parkinson however they should have enough to retain League 1 status for another year.

Regards

I always like to have a little look at other teams forums and to be fair most comments about STFC were on the whole complimentary , there is still always the odd classic ones like Nathan Byrne is on loan from Spurs that is some loan 2.5 years, and this one "Attendance, bolstered by 1000+ city faithful, was a pitiful 8000 or so and they were the quietest fans I have (not) heard in a long time. "Sing when you're winning" was certainly their motto" it was the third highest attendance in L1 and we dont give our Season Tickets away free in christmas crackers, as for the noise i would say a church mouse could have been heard over the Bradford fans after the third and fourth went in "4 - 1 on your big day out"

I think some (not all) of the Bradford fans thought before the season that they'd got an automatic promotion squad but I can only really see play offs at best. Lots of workmanlike players but no real additional flare and the same manager who most had called out as a mixed bag in terms of tactics. It's only one game but I sometimes think that bookies and pundits base predictions purely on attendances and size of club.

Your going to have to be a little bit less sensitive if your going to read an oppositions forum after they've just received an opening day thrashing. A few bitter City fans aren't going to be wanking over how good you were.

Glad you've got it off your chest though with your bitchy comments about cheap tickets! Hope you feel better now.

For what it's worth second half you were brilliant and your confidence grew (especially Byrne's) as you realised our defence shits itself when someone with pace runs at them. Still think it would have been a completely different result if we had scored the penalty, and no I don't mean 4-2...

Just got back from a long weekend down South and still feeling optimistic about our season ahead. Excellent first half from City and thought we were going to cruise to victory, but second half it was like we put out a different team, most of them looked unfit and not bothered. Swindon second half were just far too good for us, although their defence looked quite dodgy at times. They'll do well to keep hold of Byrne he was incredible.
So congrats to Swindon as they fully deserved the 3 points just from that second half performance, also glad we don't have to go back to that shithole of a town again this season.

Having worked in Bradford for 6 months last year I would say Swindon is up market decent curries though :bg: and no I dont live in Swindon and yes I think it is a shit hole to. We have kept hold of Byrne for the last 2.5 years and he was performing like this first half of last season unless a £1mill plus offer comes in he wont be going anywhere.
I thought City looked half decent first half but the difference for us was we were playing 4 4 2 for the first time in about 18 months as soon as we switched back to 3 5 2 it was normal service resumed for what its worth I think BCFC will be up there at the end of the season.

Swindon is no where near as upmarket as Bradford is, I'd say the Gluepot pub and Swindon players are the only decent things there.
How long does he have left on his contract?
I think both teams will be up there at the end of the season, we have too many negative fans who don't think we will though, although I doubt they went to the game.

Byrne's out of contract next June so if he either doesn't sign a new contract (which has been mentioned) or sold in the next couple of weeks we could be left with no player and no cash either.

FWIW, I reckon he may well sign for an extra year with a promise of letting him go if a decent offer comes in.

What? The roundabout, mate. The fucking roundabout in front of the ground. It's more than decent!

Swindon yes, Bradford no chance - rubbish team full of Blackpool and Peterborough rejects with a poor and negative manager(as by your own fans).

Not sure where you've read such predictions from City fans, although a number of fans from other clubs have predicted we'll finish in an automatic spot in the league prediction thread.
Before Saturday we were crying out for a goalkeeper and centre half, and Saturday just proved that further, losing Andrew Davies means we're weaker in defence than last season and Ben Williams in goal is simply not good enough for a top two side (or even a top half side you could argue). At best we'll secure a Play Off spot.

I'm not sure that 2 ex-Blackpool players in our starting 11 counts as the team being "full of" them. Nice try though.

We don't say he's a poor manager - poor managers don't take a L2 side to the League Cup final and promotion in the same season.

I'll give you the fact that some of us think he is overly defensive. That said, the fact he's signed players like Marshall and Anderson this summer hopefully points towards him addressing that issue.

Just look at your main forum, then predictions, I didn't see many on there not predicting at least the playoffs
