If you lot let fucking Accrington get promoted there's gonna be trouble, League One is far too northern as is it. Actually, anyone north of Northampton can pretty much fuck off too. Northampton, Oxford, Pompey and Orient please. Wycombe are close enough but they're just too boring.

I'm really surprised Oxford aren't dominating this league. Fair play to Plymouth who have punched well above their weight from day one.

I think you'll find that the best footballing teams don't always collect the most amount of points, Plymouth don't look as slick but they earn their luck and know how to win games consistently.

I agree with this. We tend to mix it up really well. 13 of our wins have been by a single goal, that's not just luck.

The way Oxford play is more suited to L1 than L2 so I'd say that they'd hold their own in that league if they went up, but if you and Plymouth were to get promoted I think you'd have to adapt quickly to that sort of style to have a good chance up there.

We'd happily swap places with you as there is a shit load of southern softy teams down here, I think we must be setting the English record this season for most miles travelled for league and cup games in one season!

You haven't been following matters at Orient very closely, there's no chance of them getting into the play-offs let alone going up automatically.

Makes me laugh how every season people decide it's all over in January. ffs Orient are only two points off the Play Offs yet have no chance? Anyone down to the deep dark depths of Luton could go on a massive streak and still make playoffs.

Dunno about that. I've seen them twice at home this year and they've been a good footballing side. Probably the best footballing team I've seen (along with Oxford on Sunday) in the draw against us, bit less quality in the other game I saw.

Will be interesting to see if they mix it up away from home on Saturday. We are good at doing that generally, but look to play a more pleasing, attacking style at home.

And to get into the play offs.

2015 - 71
2014 - 71
2013 - 69
2012 - 72
2011 - 68

Interesting reading this, saw the article this morning which had us at near 90% likelihood to reach the play-offs and I didn't really believe it given the games in hand. But 26 points off 19 games is actually pretty achievable.

Oh yes in normal circumstances I'd say that Orient would still have a reasonable chance of making the play-offs but the club is in a shambles, they have an unbalanced squad, morale has been low for a year and their form since the first five matches of the season has been terrible. They won't make the play-offs.

I actually think it will be three out of Northampton/Oxford/Plymouth & Portsmouth. Northampton in my opinion are the best team at present and probably will win it. Regarding the play off's as been mentioned previously anyone down as far as Luton -- But I would expect Wycombe Us & Accrington to be there or thereabouts and maybe Wimbledon. It will certainly come down to has the biggest/best squads and how they are managed.

Yet they're only 2 points off the play-offs.....imagine where they could be with just a hint of consistency?

I'm not saying you're wrong btw, just seems a little daft to write them off so soon.

That's because they started the season off with 5 wins. Since then they've averaged a point a match.

Yeah, but now we've got rid of our clueless, inexperienced ex-West Ham mug of a manager and replaced him with... er... hold on....

Heh.

It would take a big run of almost 2 points a game to get into the play offs, I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's bloody unlikely. We've just paid a fee for two players, however we would need probably a right winger, centre half and left back to hit top seven. Essam has been massively found out, Shaw I quite like but he's still young and getting used to the step up from Dulwich and Turgott is our only proper right winger, and he's woeful.

Given Cisak was brought in by our old sporting director (apparently) I don't think there's a single Hendon signing that's been a success.

Who signed Sammy Sideways?

That would be Hendon...

Jury's out on Shaw and McCallum, but safe to say that every other one of Ignorant Ian's signings have been a flop.

Shaw will do fine and CJM can play on the right but we definitely need a centre half, sharpish. And some sort of defensive organisation. And some shape in midfield. And some tactics. Then we'll be great.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Next 2 weeks will be crucial for Carlisle, we could well be the dark horse now because we've made £500,000 nearly in cup run money and from looks of it we will use some to fund a couple of signings and trying to nab some decent ones also.

depends if we get them, depends if right mix. Really with our squad and budget we 'should' be top 7 and should really be underperforming right now, but I think because we were a relegation battler last season you give this year as a transition one so is little pressure.

but i'd think wage budget wise if we did sign Hope and Liddle at Bradford (who their fans say would be great at this level) then add in Kennedy, Ellis, Ibrehe......we must have one of the higher wage-bills in the league.

got to be aiming for promotion either this season or next with the budget.

Oxford beat Pompey and Rovers and Argyle shared the spoils. Our routine win over Morecambe means we are the new league leaders! 11 points clear of fourth place, I'm starting to believe....

18 months? When we stole a draw at your gaff earlier in the season all I heard on the radio was your fans squinnying about Appleton not being positive enough. It was an accusation levelled at him when he was our manager, too.

The thing is, you guys would probably take a draw at ours, right? If you play for one then you'll probably get it, too. Every other negative team has and that has been our problem all season.

Well this doesn't look any less patronising with the benefit of hindsight.

We are starting to look decent for the playoffs. 4 wins, in 5 games only conceded twice and scored 11, unbeaten in 8 games away, unbeaten in six.

I feel like a thread about the cobblers train coming into the station is required.

Still don't fully believe we will go up.

Be interesting to know if our challengers think we will go up?

I think it's because we aren't used to it Eric, we keep expecting "typical Cobblers" to return but they're not.
