Been impressed with Joshua Buatsi in the Olympics, we've been crying out for a good light-heavy prospect for a while if he does stays there. Expect he could get to super-middle too and I think he would be a real banger there. Think he's up against it tonight though, facing a Kazakh fighter who won silver 4 years ago and then if he wins that he'll fight Julio Cesar La Cruz, one of the best around and another one of those outstanding Cubans that we always see at the Games.

Best fighter I've seen though is the welterweight Daniyar Yeleussinov, another Kazakhstan, he is outstanding.

La Cruz is the best boxer at the games for me. If Buatsi can get through (which is a tough ask considering the quality of his opponent) then I don't give him a prayer against La Cruz. He's dropped him before but I think that'll just switch La Cruz on and he'll negate anything Buatsi can do offensively. Bright future for lad from Ghana though. Matchroom is the obvious route but getting snapped with Money May was cool, it'd be tough to turn down the money team.

Joy Joyce, oh dear, horrible style. The sheer lumpness of him may have him medal but he'll be a crap pro if he turns over.

Is it just coincidence that the boxers that benefited from hugely controversial decisions are both Russian? First the Kazakh, and now conlon..

There are more Russian fighters given generous decisions too. To call AIBA corrupt wouldn't be doing it justice. Russian gangsters are heavily involved in corruption at both pro & amateur level, billionaire gangsters that make it so you sleep with the fishys,

Amir Khan says he wants three fights in 2017, it'll be nice to see him fight more than once. I'll always be a Khan fan despite him being a bit of a gobshite.

A rematch with Garcia should be first on the agenda for me, he's got all the tools to beat him, he just needs to be aware of that wild left hook.

Khan can beat anyone I just don't like his chances of not getting caught and then his chin standing up to getting caught.

Kel Brook looks massive at 160lbs, still isn't beating Golovkin though.

Suspect he will go to 154lb after this, which is nothing to do with Errol Spence being on the 147lb scene. There are starting to be a few Hearn/Warren fights now so if Kell Brook doesn't fight Liam Smith some point next year I will be amazed. 3 big weeks coming up though with GGG v Brook, Canelo v Smith then Crolla v Linares.

Heard Hearn mentioning he wants to put on a heavyweight night. Joshua v Pulev, Parker v Price, Chisora v Whyte all on one card. It's probably pie in the sky but him and Sky seem to have enough clout these days to put a huge event like that on. If Joshua's involved against a proper opponent I imagine it'll sell hugely. That would be awesome.

Shitty treatment from Warren there but it seems to par for the course to mess young boxers about. I'll keep an eye out for his progress.
Fighting on the 30th at Newport centre if you're up for it.

I'm so worried for Brook. I don't see how he beats GGG at all. If he tries to run, keep a distance and beat him on boxing skills he's going to play right into Golovkin's hands. IMO GGG is best when the other guy is on the outside. He can throw a normal shot from a few feet away and badly hurt guys. You're never really safe from his bombs. It will be more power than Brook has ever felt, the first time he gets caught it's going to shake him and make him think 'woah... fucking hell'. You have to be the hunter and be in charge of the fight against Golovkin, or it's just a matter of time. Yet if Brook tries to make the fight happen like that, and wants to play an inside, grabby sort of style the way he beat Porter then he's going to have a bad time also because it's so hard to grab Golovkin. Nearly everyone he's fought have tried when he's hurt them. Tried to hang on for dear life and buy time, but he's so clever at getting away and not letting you.

I don't see the fight going the distance and I cam't picture Brook winning it. KO Golovkin in the 6-9 round range for me

Brook doesn't have the fleet of foot to stay away from GGG, the ring will get cut off and Brook will get stopped in the mid rounds.

I think he has good foot speed, but like you say GGG cuts the ring off better than anyone I've ever seen I think. Brook needs to suddenly turn into a world class counter puncher, because Brook does have some power, and a very good short right. If he can catch Golovkin on the counter with a strong, sudden short right, then swarm him while he's rocked. That's like a 'I need my lottery numbers to come in' kind of *maybe* though

Good foot speed at welterweight that is. GGG is hardly a slouch himself, I don't see any weakness in him other than he takes unnecessary shots because of not moving his head enough but even then he has a cast iron chin so it really doesn't matter. I'd give someone like DeGale with his skillset a better chance against GGG. I see Brook taking a vicious body shot to end it like Macklin suffered.

Does anyone know if there will be any open workouts in London next week and where will they be?

I'm visiting London from next Wednesday till Saturday, so wouldn't mind seeing the fighters. Not sure how that kind of thing works as we're not blessed with big boxing events in Ireland.

Brook's biggest strength is his jab, that's what he'll be counting on keeping GGG at bay. Not that it will work mind.

Andy Townend has just been pummeled by Martin Joseph Ward. Gutted for him but he was outclassed to be fair.

Unlucky Charlie Edwards. Did really well there to go 10 rounds with him.

Casimero caught him plush with that one though. I was surprised the ref didn't end it then as you could clearly see Edwards was dazed.

Edwards proved he had a more than decent chin over the whole fight really but he just didn't offer enough. But yeah, that should have been stopped there and then, ref gave him an age to recover and he clearly wasn't with it when he got to his feet.

Having to listen to this on 5Live. Mike Costello is a don, but it's still not quite the same!

A strange end to that if I'm honest. Hasn't done much for GGG that fight. Brook was landing flush power shots but the guy just walked through them as we knew he would. Well done Brook for having the balls to take it.

Feel a bit for Brook but as expected GGG had far too much power for him.

He's my dads cousin some don't know what that makes him to me. He's passionate about his boxing though.
