Joshua is a good boxer but will often come unstuck against someone with a chin who is prepared to let their hands go. Especially shorter guys firing over his right hand. Whyte had him wobbled, Povetkin hurt him. It was life or death with a 70 year old Klitchsko. He has a stiff defence and not much boxing IQ. He doesn't know when to clinch and smother and has kinda slow footwork. Instead of working more on his fundamentals, he should be using his attributes. He's a physical specimen with heavy hands. He should be looking to blast guys from the first bell and clinch and lean allover anyone who tries get inside on him. Push them right back to the ropes and keep leaning. Not many guys could handle him just trying to blast them out of there. Unfortunately, Ruiz, with his fast hands, willingness to always counter a shot and good chin was always bad for Joshua. Hell, AJ put Ruiz down, the only guy ever to do so, we know he has the power. Just go for it. Set about him right away.

In terms of the fight, I'm pretty sure that first KD by Ruiz gave Joshua a concussion or something. He was never the same after. I think he said something like 'why do I feel like this' between rounds. The body was willing but the head was shaken up.

Miller getting done for doping could be the worst thing to happen to AJs career

The signs have been there since the Klitschko fight that something like this was coming. Especially in the Povetkin fight where he was being tagged way to easy. He seems to have gone ultra defensive, almost trying to copy Wlad's style and it's not working for him, and when he did throw wildly in round 3 after knocking Ruiz down it cost him massively. Poor decision making.

He can come back from the defeat but I'm not sure he will to be honest. Doesn't take much for your punch resistance to completely deteriorate. Wilder will destroy him as I've always thought, Fury will simply outbox him and Usyk will do the same as Ruiz did to him. His future opponents will come in braver than ever and know they can get him out of there.

I'm trying not to go overboard but I wouldn't be surprised if that's it for him at the top of the division. The allure of the man has gone a bit now, guys will love coming to the lions den because they know he can be taken out. I knew it was coming sooner or later, just thought it'd be Wilder knocking him out cold, not Ruiz stopping him.

If im Anthony Joshua I'm not rushing to get that rematch to be honest. It ends one of two ways, AJ either catches Ruiz early and gets him out of there, a guy who's only been down once ever, or Ruiz methodically beats him up again. Joshua just doesn't have the defensive abilities he needs to beat guy who is willing to sit in the pocket and throw fast combinations. He just doesn't. He doesn't have the Tyson Fury ability to lean right back and use his height to avoid heavy shots. He doesn't have the ability to know when to clinch. If I'm AJ I also think about changing my corner, because I have my doubts about Rob McCracken to be honest. He's telling Joshua to jab and move, jab and move. He's telling a flat footed slugger to fight a back foot fight. Hes got not Mayweather here. AJ needs to fight to his strengths.he wants guys at a nice range, backing off, so he can safely throw his hands with straight rights and long hooks, then clinch like shit until the ref physically separates you, any guy who tries to sit in the pocket like that.

Imagine actually buying that Fury fight, you'd have to be literally insane.

I don't know why I'm replying to a spam-bot to be honest.

I was thinking the same, absolutely awful to watch, poor footwork and balance, he's only done so well domestically through brute size, won't wash as he moves up in class. Gone from headlining to 6:30 start in space of 18 months.

Also Eddie Hearn really is struggling now, I'm excited for the 3 heavyweight fights but 20 quid PPV seriously? I've just watched a bloke with 165 losses fight on a 20 quid fight card, taking the absolute piss. Hopefully BT sport keep up their good work and keep increasing the pressure.

Rivas is one tough mo-fo, it didn't look like anything could put him down.

A good performance from Whyte but the fawning from Sky is quite ridiculous, he was still flattened at one point in that fight and could easily have been finished.

Whyte is probably in the top 5 in the world now for me.

Rivas was tough as they come and had heart, as I expected definitely knew this would be a tough fight. Another good win for Whyte though recovered well from the knock down, would like to see him get his chance at the WBC title, but despite how much he's improved he's a plodder and perfect for that over hand Wilder right.

Definitely needs to be banned for life now. I bet both him and Joshua wish he'd have accepted that £5m offer for the Wembley fight now.

Let's wait and see. Timing seems suspicious to me, just after he gets a confirmed shot at the WBC belt.

But if it is real and Hearn knew then his and Whyte's reputation will be rock bottom. Just this week Hearn was basically saying how much of a drug cheat Pacquiao is (not that I disagree with him).

Love the hypocrisy of Eddie Hearn, calls for all drug cheats to be banned but was quite happy having Luis Ortiz in his stable and signing Alexander Povetkin. Tbh I think most of the top level boxers are on stuff, it's just making sure they cycle off right not to get caught.

Has Tony Bellew had his say yet? He's normally all over this sort of stuff but seeing as he works for Sky he'll have to toe the party line until they all get their stories straight.

If this was Rivas then every one of the fuckers involved with Sky and Matchroom would be jumping all over it calling for lifetime bans. If it's true what he's taken then Whyte is finished in boxing, could be up to 8 year ban. I just think it's a bit suspicious.

Not the first time it's happened to a potential Wilder opponent, and with Al Haymon's intention to cut everything Matchroom and Eddie Hearn out it wouldn't surprise me. Tony 'I never want to be seen again after retirement' Bellew will no doubt have his say over the next few days on IFL. I'm shocked that 4 days before the fight the BBOBC knew he'd failed it and still let the fight go ahead, if I'm Rivas I'm suing them for everything they have.

Lomachenko is in town. Campbell will give a good account of himself but Loma is the matrix.

Hughie Fury v Povetkin is an interesting one. I could just as easily see Povetkin sparking him as I could see him becoming an old man and Hughie outlasting him and maybe Povetkin quitting on his stool, he's had injuries too.

Charlie Edwards is in a tough fight, but you'd imagine so long as he makes the final bell he's getting the decision. Annoying little runt that he is.

Decent card overall I'd say and worth buying. Loma is unmissable and I doubt he'll ever box here again.
