Give me my old wooden seat anyday.

But its a very good stand, just now ned to go behind other goal and it joins the rare list of grounds I've gone in all 4 sides. At present only Mansfield, but if inmain stand at Blackpool that joins list. Preston now with Crewe and bury and Blackpool in my watched from 3 sides list.

Its a very good modern ground as it at least holds character, but wish id got into that ridiculous 40 odd post old wood stand

We're up to 5th as it stands, only us and Bristol Rovers winning in the top half so a good time to capitalise. Even better than winning is completely battering someone, and if Jabo gets a hat-trick I'll cry.

Well that was easy. Why was I even worried?

If I was Notts I'd change manager sooner rather than later. They look a disjointed mess. Alright going forward until it comes to the final shot, but it really could have been 6 today.

Curle would still be our manager if he'd just tried to build that style of team with Notts, the massive bellend.

Fantastic performance. Notts kept possession well but didn't threaten our goal much. At 3-0, we just sat back and let them attack but our defence remained solid.

Good atmosphere in that stand, enjoyable day on the whole and a big 3 points.

Your defence didn't remain solid, we just couldn't kick the ball into the goal from six yards about five times. Great going forward, though.

Maybe if your club hadn't been so impatient and gave him more time then who knows, such a fickle bunch, just how many managers has your owner sacked?

Spot on.

First half you had a shot that hit the post, but second half you created some great openings to make it 3-1, but somehow couldn't put the ball in the net. I've no idea how one of them didn't get put in by someone.

I'm sorry but Edwards just isn't up to it. He looks the same as the player that we had, weak, slow and positionally awful.
You need a manager that can get the best out of your obviously talented forward players (15 was very good), but equally someone that can also sort you out at the back and in midfield when you're without the ball. Our midfielders were first to just about every loose ball.

I really think another manager and 2 signings in January could get Notts County into the playoffs. Moniz has to go based on what I've seen of you this season.

Notts had a few good opportunities to score, as expected. Our defence are good going forward, decent reargard and Raynes and Ellis will head high balls clear of danger time and time again, but slow on the turn and easy to get in behind. They brought out a brilliant save from Gillespie that would have leveled it, and then hit the post and other than that wasted a few really good opportunities. We're chuffed with a surprise clean-sheet.

However, the three goal margin was still deserved I think, we would have had more than three as we saw a few 'how did we not score' moments ourselves, and brought a pretty decent save from Carroll in the first half. Roy Carroll has no command of his area though and was lucky that the referee was on his side or his positioning could have given away two or three further goals. On a number of occasions he got caught out of position, so charged headlong for the ball, fell over and got the free kick and one one of those occasions we did indeed get the ball in the back of the net. One another occasion as we countered, if only Jabo had looked up he'd have seen Carroll was stranded somewhere in the middle of the defensive half and just asking to be lobbed. Even the Preston fan in front of me was shouting, 'lob him - lob him'.

Although we did lump it forward a bit, that was largely when we attacked down the right flank with Atkinson and Sweeney. Going down the left flank today with Gillesphey and Grainger we were unplayable.

The shot that hit the post was tipped by the keeper. Was a quality save.

Ah I didn't see the touch from Gillespie. He made another great save from a header as well a few minutes after it.

Gillespie hasn't actually had much to do recently, easy to forget he's probably one of our best players when we're usually always attacking.

Curle got sacked for more than football reasons. The man is a genuinely fucking odious ballbag, as is his son.

The thing with the Notts job as well is that he was given the biggest budget a Notts manager has had in my lifetime. That year we had a very competitive budget with the expectation he could get top 6 off the back of a good season - he spent the entire budget in the summer though and was then moaning in January because he wasn't being given extra money to sign Jason Scotland from under the noses of Championship clubs. We were also DULL. AS. FUCK. Like seriously as dull a side you can have, which wasn't really acceptable given the money he'd spent and the fact we had players who arrived with big reputations like Campbell-Ryce and Zoko.

Carlisle are fun though and it seems like he's doing the complete opposite to what he did at Notts, so that's all probably irrelevant to you lot. Well, except the bit about him being a huge tit.

Just watched the Moniz interview on the Notts County website.

"Carlisle were not better than us, they just had 3 moments"

If he believes that, then he must be on something.

I do think now is the time for Notts County to sack him. There are some good players there and with a new manager and a couple of new defensive signings, they could could make the playoffs. But they won't if they keep him.

I guess one the main differences that has changed his approach, besides any reflecting he may have done in the time he was out of work is that he came to Carlisle he will have been told 'listen, we've got fuck all money, in fact we're already spending too much as it is and need you to reduce the wage budget'. Maybe that taught him to appreciate the players he had as he had to get the best out of them, maybe it also led him to bring in Lee Dykes as a trusted scouting guru to ensure he was finding players on modest wages who could outperform expectations. Who knows?

I think the players can take some of the credit/blame too, things weren't going well for us for large parts of last season and at times relegation looked inevitable. Curle wasn't Mr Nice Guy then and often he was an utter twat. It takes a certain type of player, when you've just lost 3-1 at a (then very ordinary looking) Accrington and your manager has gone public to say you were a disgrace and lacking in testicles, to crowd together and say that 'we were shite that day, but we won't be that shite again'.

Only mid-4000 usually so I was surprised to see such a good turnout and atmosphere today. People wanting an escape from the shit at home I guess which is fair enough, certainly made the game a lot better.

He started off and was veering very close to fitting in with all the descriptions you've given him, however somehow he kept us up. This year he's made us probably the most open team in the league with big strikers like Ibehre and Wyke and a team where all of the defenders will happily run forwards with the ball. Sounds like the complete opposite of what he did when he failed with you so he must've just learned a lesson there and changed his style completely. Certainly working for him at the moment, surprised clubs higher up haven't taken a bit of notice of him with all the sackings going on.

Notts were always losing that yesterday. It is why i was confident to say i expected us to win 4-0 (nearly right) I remember afew years ago when Gateshead were flooded out and had to use Brunton Park and i nipped along and they were the same as us yesterday, a small but extremely vocal home support backing up an extremely hyped up side all joining together as one united by playing 90 odd miles away and bursting right out the blocks from the start.

Luton were f*cked in that game and Notts were f*cked in this, although they simply did not help themselves with that idiotic lunge in the first few minutes. Was saying beforehand how important that first 25 minutes was for both sides and Notts C go and gift us the perfect start with the first of many reckless challenges during that first 45 minutes......had that continued they'd easily lost 1-2 men but they improved 2nd half.

We were extremely hoof ball yesterday, but i wonder if it was tactical because the Notts Goalkeeper and central defence was a complete calamity to any balls chucked into the box so us at every opportunity chucking ball after ball after ball forward really worked a treat. Notts played better stuff but really when the game mattered only had a total of 5 minutes when they did anything, but our goalie made a couple of cracking stops in that time.

otherwise it was very very comfortable, should have been at lest 3 up after 20 minutes, could have had 4-5 on the day, game died a death once 3-0 as we gave up going forward and became just Notts trying to get a consolation goal but failing.......i didn't like us sitting back and easing off because had they got one games can change.....look at the Luton game, but thankfully they never took advantage at that point.

Good day, great atmos, good solid performance.

as for the Curle stuff, to be honest i think he changed this season, never wanted him previous and he isn't some wonder worker now, his record has been horrible. But it seems this season after very luckily keeping up a more than competant side last season he decided to just go with some sort've *nothing to lose* approach, maybe based on our fnbase constantly moaning at the negative feel of the place and maybe down to having no contract and thus actually having nothing to lose.....he went all out for it in the early games in a very high risk way and it as a gamble paid off..........maybe some other managers should just try and be more open and forward and then we can all have a superb entertaining league.

Kennedy probably did go down theatrically, but he clearly is first to the ball, knocks it past the player and has his leg clipped. Definite penalty.

What did his son do that made things worse?
