Is Aegisol the one that boosts your speed?

I remember redoing that whole chapter just to learn Haste as the battle was virtually impossible without it!

Aye, I didn't have haste either so this was my only option really.

Yeah I'd put it in the top 10 most difficult fights of the series.

Encountered my first annoying boss last night, the Eidolon, Brynhildr at the end of Chapter 8.

Was getting seriously pissed off and kind of cheated when I finally beat him by going into the battle using Aegisol and Fortisol.
Was Brynhildr the car? I can't remeber it being that hard, Hecaton on the other hand.

As Tonberry said, if you don't have haste then you're pretty much screwed, probably straight forward if you have it.

But yeah, he's a red car

Finally worked my way through Palamecia, what a slog, I got every piece of treasure so it took me hours.

Enjoyed the Barthandelus fight, panicked a bit when he cast Doom but I managed to kill him about a minute later, dying after a 20 minute battle would have been a tough one to take.

I can see myself burning some serious hours on this game upgrading to everyone's ultimate weapon and maxing out each character's crystarium. I'm sad like that.

Had a break from 13 but i'm back on it now and just beat Bahamut at the third attempt.

I've now landed on Gran Pulse and i'm really hoping the game opens up a a bit.

Yeah it does, a lot more enjoyable from here on out.
Btw grinding for ultimate weapons is a pain, I only bothered with Lightnings.
You have to take on those Adamantoises and their upgrades, which I cant remember the name of, and hope they drop the material you need

Yeah, I'm enjoying these Ceith Stone missions, pretty much just a re-hash of the mark hunting in FF12 but still a nice distraction from the main game.

I'm doing Hope's ultimate weapon first (think his Ninurta is currently Lv. 25), just going to see how it goes and decide whether it's worth doing the rest.

The new Dissidia us exclusive to arcades for a year.
Should be on ps4 after that as the arcade vers runs on ps4 hardware and control for it is a ps4 control split in half.
They're claiming in will probably have at least 50 characters in it and revealed a newcomer to the Dissidia series in Ramza from FFTactics.

I'd guess Delita from Tactics will be in it too. Dont think any of the Lucavi will be in it for the Villain character and Delita and his plotting should be fun.
T.G Cid would just be too OP though.

Could see Seifer being added. Noctis will be in it too I'd expect.

I'd love Vivi to get in.
Hopefully 13 and the online games dont get anymore reps than they already have.

I was speaking to a friend the other day about Final Fantasy. He absolutely loves it, but it's something I' haven't really gotten into.

I've only ever played one version, I think it was FF8, but I could be wrong. Certainly around that time. The main character was a blond fella.

My friend suggested I should give it a try, but I'm dubious. He said it's not worth playing the first few in the series because they are so old, but I'd have no idea where to start otherwise. I also don't have that much time for gaming, so I'm worried about taking on a new addiction. Then there's the fact that I'm still only on Xbox 360, not Xbox one.

Is it worth giving it a try? And if so, which game would you recommend I go with?

^Play FF9! (Get an emulator on your PC)

I'm about to start from the very beginning again and go through them all.

Ignore him Pye, 9 pisses all over 7 and laughs in it's face afterwards.

9 is the best one, but is probably more appreciated after playing the others

Think nine is probably the most accessible entry in the series, not least because the equipment and magic systems are simplified

10 is generally quite simple too, as long as you use the simple sphere grid. It's easy enough to figure out, and to be fair it's my favourite of the series.

7 is my favourite and is widely considered to be the best one, although graphically it's a bit shoddy these days.

9 is criminally under-rated and well worth playing, it's probably the easiest of them all too. A good place to start.

10 looks nice, especially now it has a HD remaster and it's easy to get into.

So go for one of those three.

Thanks for all the replies.

Am I right in assuming that if I start with 9, there's nothing that will prevent from enjoying 7 later on?

No they're both great games, but 7's graphics are not as good as 9's if that bothers you.

Yeah, they're all completely different games in different universes, the only exceptions being like X-2 (give it a miss...) and the XIII sequels.
