Half the league are counted in the GOING FOR IT category so far, make a decent signing and I’m sure you’ll be happily accepted as well

As for GOING FOR IT an ITK Cheltenham journalist has said we’ve not put in a bid for Alfie May, so we may need to drop from kitchen sink level. SoC can decide

Not that I’m backing up either yours or Adam point, looking at the table when we won the title I see maybe three part-time clubs.

I do think you and County coming up are the strongest for a club time and I’m sure both will spend to strengthen now too.

Don't get me wrong there are a lot of rubbish down there too.

A good chance next season will see the return of Chesterfield and someone like Oldham or Southend. Hopefully nature repairing itself and larger clubs coming back up. Could do with the likes of Crawley heading back down.

I genuinely do not believe he’s the type of player we need to be honest, we desperately need pace running off the last defender. I’m not sure he’s that kind of striker

You could possibly call some pub sides but the National League is far stronger than when Mansfield were in there. Almost no part time teams, much more league experience in most teams.

oh give over, that league last season was hopeless.

In a regular season you’ve got county winning that by a mile, had it not had a duped side in it, the other side was chesterfield and that’s it

sadly sides like oldham and southend are down there due to mismanagement and could be down there for a while. Either way, agree, disagree / think someone’s speaking crap - well done on following your local club - you’re worth your weight in gold.

You do fear for sides that go down there like your oldham’s/southends mainly due to mismanagement etc. There’s got to be less of a divide between the 2 leagues.

I fancy Oldham coming back up this season because of the new local ownership.

Chesterfield, Southend and Oldham coming back would see nature healed.

Hartlepool can do a proper stint. Pathetic getting relegated twice.

The 3 up 3 down thing will happen, and i agree it should.

I was reading in the athletic but it wouldn’t be this season coming but the one after.

How will they convince all L2 sides to agree to it.

Definitely 3 up/3 down needs to happen.

The National League should be absorbed into the EFL in my opinion too. Clubs in League 3 then all follow the same rules around financial fair play, no plastic pitches. Non-league then starts at the regional level with National League North and South.

They don't need too, they just need to convince the majority of the EFL which is not all Lge 2 clubs

Yeah, basically the hand is being forced by the PL by the sounds of it also, for the EFL to get more money from the PL they want the EFL to integrate further with NL, so it will happen.

Though the conference this season looks pretty weak i agree it would make sense to have it in the FL

Why the hate for Crawley?

When I think about it, Wrexham spent more time in the Conference than we did. Proper non league and you only got out by spending a film stars money (at least ours was a supporter before).

Wrexham and Salford are cut from the same cloth.

Love all the bitchiness on this thread.

I’m quite old so I can even remember the days of Mansfield buying promotion from the Blue Square Premier :)

I'm not really bitchy but I often forget to put emojis on my posts.

How can a Crawley fan honestly bitch about other clubs spending cash like water? I do like to follow these threads though. Reminds me of old times and pure envy.

Ha! To be fair almost every club who’s been promoted from the National League has had to “go for it” - that’s the end result of only having one auto promo place.

To be fair, as good as we both were, I don’t think either us or Wrexham would’ve got the points totals we did without each other and it being one automatic promotion spot. Was definitely games, particularly away, where we’d have been happy enough with a draw in a normal season but we had to go all out in the last 15/20 because we knew we had to win every game. Imagine it was the same for them.

I think his point is that because you both achieved such a high points total it seems the quality of the other teams was particularly poor.

But it’s equally possible the opposite is true and the quality of two teams was particularly good. If anything I think it was the strongest league overall in the four years we were down there, but I would say that I guess haha.

I have absolutely no idea. With no logic behind this I reckon you’ll both be Stockport-esque this season.

They were no poorer than the year before when we won it. Notts and Wrexham both got more points than we did, we have improved a bit since last summer but not by loads IMO and obviously we finished 4th only a couple of points off automatic. Notts and Wrexham will be right up there, we're probably in the best position to judge having seen both leagues most recently.

Wrexham definitely will be, I think we will if we can keep hold of our manager and most of our key players.

It took a while for you to hit your straps, though. Positively average until the New Year.

Quite average all season. But enough to be up there. I think Notts and Wrexham are stronger coming out than we were is my point.

He’s followed Wrexham through all the bad times too, don’t be fooled by his name on here he’s not one of the new breed of Wrexham fans.
