We've still not heard anything about our potential billionaire investor...only 270+ days after the supposed 'firm interest' was announced.

I don't really know how to feel about this. Part of me is pure excitement and joy. The other side is fear that in 3/4 years we may not even have any club.

Part of me still believes in Higgs' decision to appoint the right people and it seems that these new owners know what they're doing in football and actually have a genuine interest. Plus the new chairman who was previously at Swansea should know what he's doing. The fact that we actually know who these people are, should help.

I guess all we can do is look forward to the ride. It seems the family has a net worrth estimated over $1 Billion, so it could be interesting what their plans are

I understand all the excitement etc...
And hope it works out for you, but I would hate to have this happen to my club and thats the truth.

Enjoy your rise up the leagues, the better football, the new stadium, the folks in the seats beside you who you've never met before and the eventual massive matchday price hikes Brovers fans.

And don't forget to sing "we'll never play you again" to us all next season.

The old board simply didn't have the finance to take the club any further. If we have ambitions to play in the Championship or beyond then a takeover of this sort was our only realistic chance.

It's not that surprising there were other interested parties, they see the potential to take the club forward. The club has a huge fan base - 11k against Alfreton in the Conference, 40k to Wembley and our last 3 homes games have seen nearly 30k through the gate.

When you consider how poor our current ground is - where the majority have to stand and about half get soaked to the bone on a wet day - you wonder how many fans we'll be able to attract in a brand new state of the art stadium; particularly if the move to the new ground coincides with on the field success.

They've already promised the new stadium will be built regardless of the result of the Sainsburys court case, which is an excellent start.

The new owner comes across very well in his interviews today and seems very passionate about both football and Bristol Rovers. He claims he and his family are in it for the long term and will be looking to improve all aspects of the club both on and off the pitch.

Obviously no one knows what the future holds and these type of takeovers haven't always worked out but it's certainly exciting times at Rovers.

So why were your crowds so piss poor the last time you were even in L1. You are attracting fans at the moment cos you are - relatively - successful at the moment, but you never historically attracted more than City no matter how well you were doing.

Be careful what you wish for

admittedly through gritted teeth,I pass on my best wishes on your newfound fortune in waiting.the majority of rovers fans, like my own teams fans, have experienced pain and frustration over the years, and now you can see light at the end of the tunnel . it is only my own jealousy that puts thoughts of potential doom inside my head.good luck to you pirates, keep your traditions alive and look ahead and replicate the situation in Manchester as making the blue half of the city on the up and see the red half in demise...go get em boys

Fuck it, I'm excited now :£

I'd be terrified.
the son is an executive of the Jordan football association
So these hopefully won't be crooks

Sorry, but that made me laugh. Perish the thought that there might be crooks at the head of national football associations.

Yeah yeah, I know what you're saying but I can't help being excited that something big could potentially happen to my club. Years of false dawns especially regarding our stadium would make being terrified a bit churlish tbh. I totally understand the genuine concern from our own fans and genuine fans like yourself but I'm not going to apologise for getting excited.

Darrell Clarke must be a dodgy omen. When manager of Salisbury, supposed very rich middle easterners stepped in to buy the club from a disliked chairman and promised the world. Sound familiar Rovers? Look where Salisbury play now. (Hint - They don't)

Good Luck to you, having foreign owners down here has tested our fans patience quite a bit. You will need to be patient with them as they will make mistakes.

Our owner pays transfer fees, but is yet to appoint a decent manager........

I'm hoping that having the ex Swansea bloke as chairman might make the transition a bit easier .

I'm having visions of Rovers in five years time playing in a new red and white UWE stadium covered in Jordan flags with complimentary clappers being handed out for atmosphere and goal music when they score. Bristol Rovers Pirates - the revolution.

In seriousness Gasheads, it's a huge risk and sure will be one hell of a ride. A new stadium has to be the necessity, there's no point in this bloke having all the money and having nowhere to put it. I'm sure Higgs won't be missed, but in fairness he's left you in a healthy position, but you do feel that with his limited resources he was never going take you further than you've already achieved under his ownership.

This is going to be interesting.

Fuck it, we were heading to bankruptcy with the old board so what risks has taken on a billionaire family??
Debt free and new ground ahead, if nothing else that would suit me just fine.
In this day and age you get nowhere without hard cash, I was putting silvers into Bournemouth's collections buckets a few years ago, now they are in the prem signing average players for millions, we can all dream a little and I think BRFC have deserved it.

Well if Bristol rovers are going to be taken over by rich fans it gives all clubs who are going nowhere fast hope that some randomers can dream of a takeover.

Maybe Mansfield will be taken over by the Chinese? Wycombe by the Egyptians? Dagenham by the polish? (Or whoever could be arsed with that lot)

It's hard not to have a like for them lot with how they were Before and after that day they got relegated with us in town so I hope it goes alright. Would be fun to see them out city in the shade.

It's not a club that could manage more misfortune though, so I hope it goes to plan

Already my facebook is full of posts claiming that they are the next Man City and predicting they will be above us in 2-3 years!: D

Don't get me wrong, I think this is excellent news for Rovers and it will work out fairly well for them, but I'd urge their fans to err on the side of cautious optimism!

There isn't going to be a Fulham style charge up the leagues complete with expensive signings and big name managers simply because FFP won't allow that anymore and relative to other football club owners they simply don't have those funds available. I reckon it will be more a steadyness of the ship, with the stadium built, debt slowly dwindled and a better infrastructure put into place. IF they play it right, and we don't make any progress then they COULD be in a position to challenge us in the not so distant future.

So in a nutshell - Exciting news for you, and enjoy it but don't go shouting from the rooftops just yet lads. ;)

I for one am not getting carried away, chose Rovers in 1988 when we had a team that played for the badge, had a cousin who took me too Ashton and a family friend took me to Twerton. I chose my team on the welcome I got and the People around me and till this day I don't regret it. Firm believer in loyalty as long as the owner shows that and gets us on a firm sustainable footing, that means the club I love is here for my children and future grand children I will be happy. I can only see a strong Rovers being beneficial to City as Steve Lansdowns ego would mean that if we are ever in the same league he will spend, spend, spend. As Terry Pratchett once wrote we live in interesting times.

Steve Hamer is a name that was part of a questionable consortium linked in with a last minute bid under the guise of Balram Chainrai to derail the trust taking over at Pompey, and allegedly allow Chainrai to continue his asset stripping plan by folding the club and selling the land. Fortunately, the FL saw through it and stated that they would only consider a deal for the trust to take over. If his pal Keith Harris suddenly gets added to the board, i'd start to worry.

Whilst I wish the Gas good fortune, make sure that you form a strong trust now, to safeguard against it ever turning sour.

I have nothing to be bitter about, I was copying and pasting how these things tend to happen.

Don't trip over your self-made pile of exclamation marks in your foot stamping hissy fit and rejoice that life for Rovers fans is about to get much more interesting, ya miserable sod.

You have to have a close interest or affinity to something to be bitter, I'm just a little green eyed at the fun your lot are going to have.

I, for one, welcome our new Bristol overlords and would like to remind them that Kemar Roofe would be very available for an amount of not less than £9,000,000 with free delivery.
