Plus whenever I've seen Carroll for England he's done really well. He wins something like 75% of aerial balls in the Premiership, but that grows close to 90% in international games, that's my impression anyway.

Actually, considering how poor England's wingers are, if I were Hodgson I'd put Sturridge out wide. If he doesn't like it, don't take him.

That being route one Fellainiesque balls into the box from the half way line, something I strongly suspect Hodgson would prefer to avoid. I'd also sooner we scored our goals with decent build up play. He does offer something in set pieces though, although I'm not sure it justifies his inclusion.

I'm telling you Can has the attributes to become world class and is starting to show his potential. Still has brain fart moments and still gives the ball away too much, but once those are eradicated he can push on and become a hell of a midfielder.

Can's a decent all-rounder that doesn't really excel in any particular area - hence him being played in a number of different positions. In the mould of a Daley Blind (without the passing ability) or a Milner (without the massive jaw).

The thing he has in his favour is youth and the time to develop and he doesn't have a bad manager to develop under (not like that) at the moment.

Another serious knee injury for Gundogan. Will certainly miss the Euros. Wonder what will happen with the transfer to city though.
