One from your good self there.

So I didn’t say he deserved to be assaulted. DID I?

Just that he might learn a lesson from it and be less antagonising in future. That is not the same thing at all.

I didn't think Mansfield was a shithole when I went in August. To be fair though it was the first time I'd been out of Bradford for about ten years :bg:

Hahah

cracking game and beers afterwards to be fair, know a few of your fans through mates who follow england.

No shot, running on the pitch like that in those numbers and throwing sly digs in the melee is absolute pussy behaviour, easy to be hard as nails with several hundred around you.
Oh absolutely. But you would think that maybe McKirdy would at least tone down his twatish ways off the back of it.

Hmm. Okay.
You said I said something, then quoted a post of mine which didn’t contain what you claim I said. I know you’re upset after the loss, but don’t be a liar.

Far from upset. Did nowhere near enough to win the game.

So can your gaffer in fairness. Miles outside his technical area to get involved with one of our players taking a throw in.

Firstly, hard luck to Swindon. Nobody in the ground wanted penalties and it's a real lottery. I thought it was all over after we missed 2. I think when Stone saved the decisive penalty, the momentum swung.

Absolutely tremendous atmosphere. One of the best I've experienced in 30 odd years of going.

I thought we showed enough desire and fight to win against a good passing team. We had a couple of hairy moments but created some good chances ourselves. It was very end to end.

Didn't like those unsavoury scenes at the end. All clubs have their idiots and unfortunately Stoke is riddled with Neanderthals. In fairness my mate helped to guide McKirdy off the pitch so we're not all bad.

He did just apologise on the radio. Said he was stupid and has never been sent off in his career before. Emotion got the better of him, which is understandable considering what he's been through.

Unfortunately, as I said prior to the game, he thought his team was through after the first game. Not watering the pitch is just a bizarre excuse.

Don’t think neither team deserved to lose the tie. Cruel to lose on penalties. Lots of if‘s and buts for Swindon.
Credit to Port Vale for a very solid performance and for showing such resilience in the penalty shoot out.

if you are going to give it the big one fine but you live by the sword you die by the sword. You sent a team out to act like that over two legs and moan that we don't water the pitch? what a loser.

sorry for the swindon fans like, i was in bits during the pennos so can't imagine what you are like.

Seems like a weird thing to say to be fair commenting on the moistness of a pitch.

Wilson was easily the best player over the two legs for me. Find it quite shocking that BBC have him on 11 goals. Quality striker.

Eventful evening and a great result for us, I would have sympathy for Swindon but they do wind people up with their play acting so sod em.It will be a battle between us and Mansfield but at least an honest one.

Finally back, gathering my thoughts.

Firstly the Atmosphere was immense and the decision to give the home fans the Hamil was superb, the wonder of you before kick off and Penny Arcade it really carried between there and the Hamil.

You couldn’t hear the Swindon fans at all which sums up the problems we’ve had making the Bycars a home end.

Performance wise we got it spot on tonight, I felt we needed an early goal and we’ve had those blistering starts and we got that, how Willo missed in the first couple of minutes I will never know, but great work from Harratt for the goal.

We pressed them to death at times and the energy the boys had tonight was phenomenal, I don’t recall Stone having a save to make which considering Swindon’s record shows what a great job we did to nullify them.

Felt first half we could of had a couple more goals and second half we had to dig in more but missed a sitter with Willo then blazing over from a few yards out from the rebound.

Penalties were gut wrenching, when we missed our third it looked done and I’d accepted our fate a bit but thank the lord for Harry McKirdy… that penalty was a shocker! Think it about landed in the disabled stand on the corner!

Key one was their fifth as they had match point though and we kept scoring then and each time they’d score (the 6th looked a great pen!) but when the lad stepped up for their 8th I fancied he would miss and thankfully he did. Cue pandemonium!

I’ve seen a few clips of the trouble and it’s so frustrating and poor, we’ve seen a few in these play offs and I don’t get the mentality of it. Go on the pitch and celebrate don’t see the issue there but why goad or scuffle with opposing players? McKirdy is what he is but he’s been pocketed by Hall, missed a penalty and he’s lost, we’ve answered their comments on the field in the game leave it at that. Same for Forest and the Mansfield trouble. Ridiculous. Takes the shine of a magnificent night for the club.

Onto Wembley, first time for Vale at the new Wembley so it should be a special occasion, obviously Dazzler talks about the emotional connection with Mansfield and it being the birthplace of his daughter in his post match interview. It promises to be a good game between two sides who had lost their way a bit towards the end but now are one game from glory.

On a final note commiserations to the Swindon fans, the ones on here are decent and it was two mammoth battles, you’ve sorted your ownership situation out and your future is bright.

No excuse for some of the events that happened on the pitch at the end and I think there’s going to be a few Vale fans getting 5am knocks from the dibble in the coming days.

Feel for the Swindon fans on here who are all totally decent and it’s a horrible way to settle a tie but I felt before the game this would go the distance so can’t say I’m shocked it did. I’m still not sure how we won that shootout.

I thought we were fantastic in executing our gameplan and also no shortage of heart and character. Overall I think we deserved the win tonight. Swindon I think were letting the crowd get to them a bit especially McKirdy who lost his rag in front of the Hamil at one point. The worst thing he could have done as it just intensified some of the chants aimed at him. A really special night on the pitch and an incredible atmosphere which unfortunately one or two ruined at the end. See you at Wembley Stags fans.

It was our throw but it was silly.
Yep....we had to play the officials a bit too. Lots of soft free kicks awarded and throw ins given the wrong way. Williams and the excellent right back the worst culprits for going to the floor under any contact.

Just a note on McKirdy too. I thought last night showed why we released him. Played completely for himself and wanted the glory, let the fans get to him and compounded by that ridiculous penalty and reaction.

There was a couple of moments where he should have played in a team mate but decided to shoot from a ridiculous position and then the penalty is just someone with arrogance beyond belief, trying to hit the top corner.

The lad's had a purple patch this season but he's just not someone you want on your team in a battle.

What a night.

I just felt either us or Northampton would end up going through after losing the first leg.

To a man, we were brilliant. I can’t fault any one of them. They ran their hearts out for this football club and that’s all I’ll ever ask for.

I’ve seen so much shit, misery and depression around this club in my lifetime. When we missed those two penalties I thought ‘typical Vale’. However, the footballing God’s were on our side. Finally some luck and happiness.

We may lose at Wembley but it will be a weekend I’ll never forget. Big day out with my mates and family watching my football club at Wembley. Something I’ve never seen and never thought would happen. Every year I’ve watched the play offs and thought ‘If only that could be us’.

Brilliant!

Thank fuck the Swindon cretins on here won't be in the L1 forum next season. Shame from an outside this forum perspective mind you as their fans in general are decent and its a nice local game. Swindon away is always top. Rather Vale went up from here.
