The L2 Playoffs

Just to complete the set our ticketing system has caused multiple headaches for fans this season. Apparently that's a hangover from the previous regime and they are looking to get it sorted for next season.

Ours is more criminal in that Kevin and Carol own an IT firm! But in fairness they have most other things right. Next season hopefully we will sort ours out.

Never forget selling 2 per ST holder (had 4000 at the time) for Man City and selling all 8000 tickets well before all ST holders had managed to get one!

That Man City fiasco was what really convinced me we needed some sort of away loyalty scheme. Believe Hartlepool have just brought one in so it can't be too difficult if other clubs manage it. The Man City one was where the club did that really weird thing with the remaining tickets to get fans to write short essays on what the Vale mean to them and the winners would get the remaining ones. Not really moved forward a great deal from the Ticket Office Ted era.

Second leg details confirmed.

Vale will get the full away end (Hamil Road) 4500 tickets with Swindon being moved to the opposite end where they will receive 2200 tickets.

Not sure how logistically it will work as furthest from the car park and road for away fans but assume coaches will use the Synectics car park?

Firstly i'm surprised that it's taken this long for you to look at doing something like this, your away end (Hamil) is far too big for most away fans in L2. It surely makes more sense to offer your bigger stand to Vale fans and the smaller one to visiting supporters?

I noticed that your game against Newport was a sell out for home fans, but the Bycars stand wasn't full, I read it was restricted to 80% for safety reasons. But I'm assuming the capacity of that stand is 2,200 so if we were to sell all our tickets that end would be full, so why is it more safe for us and not Vale fans?

You’re right that and the Railway (older stand down the side) are limited to 80%. Think the stand holds about 3300 in total however there’ll probably be a block or two netted off for segregation as the Lorne Street stand is kind of joined on to it.

The Hamil is the newer built of the two stands behind the goal. The Bycars unfortunately there’s no alcohol served in there as the kiosks are in view of the pitch which is one of the reasons it often looks sparse at VP behind the goal. Ideally that and the Railway need redeveloping at some point. The Hamil also has the best acoustics, lost count of the amount of times even 150 visiting fans have drowned us out at home.

I’m glad by the way that there seems a reasonable compromise between both of our clubs on this. Compared to say Sheff Wed and Sunderland who both gave each other lower numbers in stadiums at least twice of the size of both ours. Playing ticket wars helped to kill a day or two waiting for the games at least

There’s a few owd duffers with ‘bury me under the bycars’ tattooed on their arms gonna be having a right old chew about this..
But it makes sense, park the Swindon lot behind the railway and straight in the ground.
It is a dry end though, do fill up in the bulls head before!

I think fans of both clubs can be relatively content with the outcome of the ticket arrangements.

The Bycars I believe holds more than 2200 so that will include the 20%.

The Police have blocked past efforts to switch it due to the location of the Bycars (it is furthest from the road) and access is difficult, so I am assuming we will have had to put things in place for that maybe through the car park down the Railway side.

I think that they’ve let us do it just speaks to the relationship the club has now with the council and police. Compared to well pretty much every previous owner we have had. There is no way they’d have allowed us to do this then.

otherwise youve got 2200 swindon fans having to walk passed the railway end with a few thousand vale fans trying to down the same narrow paths

ill give them the benefit of doubt and assume that this will have been thought of and obviously im pleased that it will be a better experience for vale fans with up to 850 more tickets available

I suspect they'll stick the away coaches in the Synectics car park (as in, beyond the staff gate) and funnel them through the gate at the end there.

Aye to be honest and I know you shouldn’t read too much into it but my main feeling watching was is that it? Beyond what were some incredible crowds in one of the ties at least it was largely mediocre.

Must be an even bigger incentive to win the L2 play offs after watching those L1 games, especially as the likes of Cheltenham and Cambridge have done well there.
I think most if not all of L2's top 7 could hold their own there
