I support Lincoln, but Tranmere have always been my second team since the glory days of Ian Muir and Johnny King, when they used to play regularly on a Friday night and Saint and Greavsie would show the highlights on Saturday lunchtime. Imps - Tranny final would be great.
Half way there..........

Did Tranmere not get the memo about this shitshow whilst in non-league? It's like Lincoln all over again.
We knocked out the last U21 team in the tournament, and we had ZERO fans at each game! Now we're just milking the prize money to piss the wanky EFL off. Got a problem with that? :dk:

I thought we were brilliant tonight. Quite an achievement by Keith to get us to Wembley while never once fielding our strongest side, even against higher opposition, which emphasises we have a decent squad.

I hate the inclusion of under 21 teams but a Wembley final between two traditional lower league clubs is why this competition was created.

Finally, the Sky coverage was abysmal. They decided before kick off that we would be outclassed and that Hill's team selection was wrong, and seemed affronted when we deservedly won.

Spot on, summed up perfectly.
This is the furthest we’ve gone in this competition as a L2/D4 team and there’s been some really entertaining football along the way too.
Well done everyone at Tranmere Rovers.

Reading the last couple pages of this thread suggests your more excited about winning this non competition than pissing the EFL off.

It's hard not to get upbeat when you've just knocked out two strong League 1 sides and are now going to Wembley. It's a nice little consolation for being royally fucked over last season by our fellow football league clubs.

With that in mind, it's a bit rich to ask us to take a stand in solidarity with the rest of the clubs who voted to relegate us - every man for himself, the precedent was set and most opposition fans revelled in it. Fuck what anyone thinks. We've made over a quarter of a million from this competition this season, who'd turn their noses up at that?

Somebody has to get there. Why not our reserves.

Agreed, but let's just ignore whoever gets there, or that this competition even exists until b teams are no longer in it.

Oh but you made a quarter of million you say, how about they just give you a quarter of a million for free as long as you let Man City B team into lge 2

If you think a handful of Tranmere fans on an obscure football forum is going to sway the EFL juggernaut, then you're either stupid or deluded.

There is no love lost between Tranmere and the EFL, and they know that. Our reaction to reaching the final will in no way sway their decision making process either now or in the future.

Let us celebrate, you miserable twit.

It will not happen. They cannot just place teams in leagues at random. If they could do that Celtic and Rangers would be in like a shot.

It's amazing how every year the fans of teams who do well in this non competition quickly lose sight of the bigger picture.

It is the shipbuilding derby against Sunderland then. A big day for Max Power captaining the Mackems at Wembley against his boyhood club.

The only pity is fans won't be there, as it would have been great, like 1988 all over again.

Had a fantastic piss up with a load of Sunderland fans after the play off final in 2019.

The same way you would if your reserve team won the reserve league........ With little interest

Get a grip ffs. We haven’t taken the competition seriously as we’re more focused on promotion back to League One. Even in a semi final against a team who are a league above us and are in flying form we rested players. No ones a fan of B teams in the competition but guess what, everyone still takes part.

If you’re having a go at fans for getting to a Final at Wembley and adding some much needed money to the bank all because of the B teams then it’s embarrassing on your part more than anything. You can hate a competition but still acknowledge it’s an achievement getting through to the last stage you know.

“As a Grimsby fan, Tranmere fans shouldn’t be happy getting to Wembley Stadium in the EFL Trophy Final and earning another £250k because I don’t like Aston Villa U23s”

He has just reminded me of something. That cracking pub up the hill from Wembley. The Green Man.
