Think old Covolan was already planning his statue in the centre of Torquay. Bizarre how the first four pens were uniformly awful and then impeccable from then on it, even Buse’s was well struck by a fine save onto the bar
Did he only dive to his right, as well?

Commiserations to Torquay, that was some game and feels so harsh that one of us had to lose, we went from a massive high, to a gut punch in the 95th minute back to elation after the stress of penalties.

We’re finally back!!!! DC has revolutionised us, from what we were to what we are now, mostly, all down to him.

Sorry? Y?
Have already brought it up once since we got relegated but will continue to do so until everyone is up to speed. He ended Martin Pringle's career with a very horrible malicious foul, so fuck him.

Well done Hartlepool and I'm very pleased for their fans but Challinor is a scumbag thug who doesn't deserve any praise or success.
Wonder how much Chester regret taking the promoted Colwyn Bay's manager (who was also at the same time a manager at British Rail) leaving Fylde to pick up his assistant way back in 2010......

Yeah I want to commiserate Torquay. Its not sunk in yet what happened. They played their hearts out and both sides out on their feet. I thought they'd won it when Covolan scored. There'll be a lot of hurt and the ref decisions went against them. We got gubbed by the ref in the L1 play off final against Sheff Wed. We know how you feel. I hold my hands up to all that and hands out to console a fellow brother and good club. I really hope you come back from this.

Oh well, I feel sorry for Torquay, it will be hard to replicate this again. I assume that Grimsby and Dover will be the big dogs next year.

So far today we've had Danny Wright, the Torquay keeper and now Challinor all classed as pure EVIL by Grimsby fans. Emotional lot.

Well in Hartlepool, back in your rightful place within the Football League!

Gutted for Torquay, nothing quite like play off heartbreak especially in that fashion. They’ll go again next year no doubt… what a tough league it’s going to be next year down here!!

Interesting take there. I suppose career ending fouls should just be swept under the carpet? As far as I'm aware, Challinor has never offered any kind of apology or remorse.

Plenty of other fans slagging off the Torquay keeper too.

Danny Wright is just a massive knobhead who revelled in antognising our fans after stamping on McKeown so while he's not evil, I definitely enjoyed him missing that. And doing so with ridiculously bad hair capped it.

God not another one of these moaners on this forum. Mad at the world and everyone in it. Don’t let it wind you up lad. Not a good way to live holding all that hatred inside. You’ve gotta get over it man

Absolutely fine with people who make mistakes and admit it, but he clearly isn't one of these. I don't hold grudges against just anyone, but I can still hear the snap of Pringle's leg. It's difficult to let that go. Let's face it, the only reason you're piping up in his defence is because he was Fylde manager for 8 years or however long it was.

Also, I've been moaning on this forum and its previous incarnation longer than pretty much everyone so you can get to fuck with your little "not another one" comment there.

Well, that was exhausting,Pools never do it easy.
Torquay were the better team, but we were due some luck after the Cheltenham,Bristol City games & getting done up like a kipper against Sheff Wed.
Back to boring Carlisle & Mansfield, thank god.

Good luck Pools next season, what an awful way to lose for Torquay be tough to pick up from that and start a season in 8 weeks time.

All what? A man lost his career and livelihood, but yeah let's forget that and all slap him on the back because he almost took Fylde up to the Football League once.

Exactly right. That’s the spirit. Positive thinking my man. I like it. Well done Dave Challinor. Superb achievement. Shame he didn’t quite get us over the line but he did more than enough for us.

He never got the credit he deserved at our gaff DC as everybody associated us with a massive budget. Glad to see he will now get the applause he rightly deserves

DC has dragged this club up by the bootlace & with a bang average budget.

Agree, our turn around is all down to him, this team he pulled together was on a reduced budget from last season, he’s worked wonders, he is irreplaceable to us.

Well where the hell do you start with that. Its gonna take me days to get my head round it.

We were down on the turf when the keeper scores, knackered, beaten, devastated. No happy ending for this team. And Challinor has confirmed it would've been. The team is the right word for it. Determined, skilled, disciplined and together. To bounce back from that and put up a decent show in extra time is real character then to miss your first two pens and still go on to win it with Brad James the hero. You just couldn't write it. That is the most dramatic game and most important victory in our history. It hasn't sunk in, no idea when it will.

I never once thought we'd get back into the FL. Relegated, on our arses with a crook who sent us hours from going bust. To come back, rebuild with an excellent and I mean top class manager. On an average budget and the calibre of player he's got in, not only that but they were the right characters. Helping kids in Hartlepool, buying tons of supplies for food banks, always ready to chat. Team spirit and never say die. Great bunch of lads and they've done me, the club and the town proud.

Arise Sir David Challinor. You are now a club legend. And will forever be.

Am buzzin for Crawley away like.

Another team who came down a long time after we did and have gone back before us.
