Sat 5th June 4pm - Notts County vs Chesterfield
Sun 6th June 4pm - Hartlepool United vs Bromley

So, we know who made it, time to look ahead to easily the biggest and most important football taking place in June...

It’s a real shame that our kind-of-local-derby with Ches will only be played in front of 4,400 rather than the 16,000 plus it would be in normal times. I think you’d say that home advantage is going to be even more important than normal in the qualifying games with no away fans in attendance.

I think that alone makes Notts favourites for our tie, although Chesterfield have done amazingly to make the play-offs from where they were when Rowe took over. Hartlepool I expect to have too much for Bromley in the other one really.

You'd like to think we'd have enough to see off Bromley but they've got the better of us this season taking 4 points, we've also not been great when it's come to important games this season, the Torquay walloping at home and the total no show at Sutton.

That being said I do fancy us against anyone at home, stick with 352/532 formation whichever way you look at it with Armstrong and Oates up front we're a team to be reckoned with.

Not sure if I'd rather face Pools over Bromley in the semi tbh, we've struggled against the rest of the top 4 all season

Would look forward to giving Armstrong Jnr some well-earned criticism over his antics at Victoria Park, though, the little prick

County does feel like a pottable game to me. I know they finished above us but over the course of the last 5, 20 even 30 games we have collected more points than them. I think we match up quite evenly really, it will be very tight. The crowd being all Notts will be a factor, but we're not a team of kids, there's a lot of experience in the squad and can hopefully play through that. Hopefully Danny Rowe is fit as his ability to score a worldie from distance may be a deciding factor in a game like this

It seems pretty crazy that the eventual play off losers will have 6 weeks less to prepare for next season than ourselves and Southend.

Hope Stockport win purely because I feel they’re the biggest threat next season.

Sneaky use of five considering we’re level on the more standard six game form table. ;)

We’re definitely beatable, though. A completely different team and approach under Burchnall to the Ardley side which you played twice. We’re extremely attacking now (expect us to start with just one natural centre back in a back three) and will basically go for it with wing backs playing really high and try and have loads of possession. It means we’re vulnerable to counter attacks and to set pieces.

We were very, very susceptible to teams pressing us under Ardley, which you probably did to us the best when winning at ML. We’re a lot better against that now as we don’t pass sideways as much.

Feel us v chessie could be tight - first goal massive. Think both will definitely see it as winnable.

Does it go to ET and pens after 90 minutes this season if level? Or straight to pens? Because it could come to that!

Will be extremely disappointed if Chessie beat us at the Lane

(I absolutely expect that to happen, but I’ll be disappointed nonetheless)

I think first goal will be crucial. We panicked yesterday when we fell behind but we're hard to score two against it we take the lead.
We are going to have to be more ruthless in front of goal.
I'm also very glad Asanti is injured, he ran us ragged at ours.

As with seemingly most non league fans, I’ve got no confidence in my own team next Saturday, largely due to our soft defence.

I couldn’t make the Weymouth game so this’ll be my first game back. We can’t lose to a club so tinpot their big rivals are fucking Mansfield.

Anyone. But. Bromley.

This, although also not Notts County (for letting Harrogate into the league, and for letting Bromley into the play offs) or Chesterfield (FA Cup QF 1996)

I'd like Stockport out of the division tbh, but I wouldn't begrudge Torquay or Pools

Err, you let Bromley into the playoffs on the final day.
Still, I think you'll get your wish and we'll be here next season.

The last two clubs James Alabi has been paid by who got to the play offs got promoted although he had barely any impact on it.

Can't see why there's a weeks gap between each game, surely the semi-finals could have been next Tuesday/Wednesday?

As with seemingly most non league fans, I’ve got no confidence in my own team next Saturday, largely due to our soft defence.

After so much dross and bitter disappointment for years for us to end up at this level, to go into a big game thinking 'yea we got this' just feels so alien and removed from expectations to be laughable. None of us have anything to feel confident about. I've no doubt our season will end in more disappointment. Out of all the playoff teams though County does feel like the best 'type' of game for us.

Amazing effort for us to make them but now we’re here I hope we have a right old go.

I think County are beatable, I’m just absolutely gutted we can’t go. What a day that would have been, would have been 3/4K travelling fans and about 20k attendance in normal times, exactly the type of game you want to watch your team in!
Hopefully Danny Rowe recovers to play too!

As much as I like Rawlinson, I hope we return to the kamikaze Brindley/Ellis/Chicksen back three. The wide centre backs see so much of the ball in this system you really noticed the difference on Saturday with Connell trying to do that job of bringing it forward. To hell with being able to win a header.

It’s Stockport’s turn, they are first in the queue to regain their rightful place.

History suggests its going to be Torquay or Stockport. In the last ten years only 2. teams have won the play offs and not finished in the top 3, and they both finished 4th. In the seasons since the format changed its been clubs in 2nd and 3rd. It would be a hell of a feat for Bromley or Chesterfield especially, to win it.

Well we (Stockport) managed to get third place and go straight into a HOME semi - YIPPEE, oops hang on a bit our home record is 8-11-2 (drawn last 3) and our away record is 13-3-5 (won last 6). Ah well at least some of our fans will be able to see the game.

We really need Madden back for the play-off game(s) as he makes such a difference not so much because of his goal scoring ability but for the amount of work he gets through.

With or without Madden I fancy us to make the final but I have a (nasty) feeling we'll be up against Notts or Chesterfield and lose. It would seem that the SFA thinks the same as they've announced that English clubs will no longer be allowed into the Scottish Challenge Cup so we haven't even got that consolation to look forward to.

The radio silence on Madden is telling.

I think I'd be more confident for a final than the semi at EP. We panic at EP. The opponents sense it and play on it as the game wears on.

Reasonably confident for Saturday. If we play like we have been doing some of the chances should go in.
Despite losing to Bromley we still played well for 50-60 minutes and probably should have been 2 up at HT.

Bromley are a side who we cant deal with atm, but the teams in the playoffs will be looking to play football which will be good for us.

If we do get to the final i just hope its not Bromley.

Anyone know the rules this year if it’s level after 90? Last year was straight to pens but I thought that was a Covid thing.
