Thought we could have some stats like the top 7 thread. Took 34 pts as cut off mainly because Stevenage are there and catchable due to game in hand! Shows what they will finish on if based on PPG so far this season and if they maintain the last 8 games form for rest of season.

Stevenage and Mansfield currently on the best form for last 8, however stags have now not won in 5 so that will drop. Grimsby are doomed, unless form picks up quick, and Colchester needed to sack their manager because any longer and they are about to be dragged into it based on form despite the 7 point gap.
Colchester look most likely. Its not easy to get out of the kind of slump they are in. A lot of us on here know what thats like. Being stuck at the bottom of the table all season can give an incentive to fight. Being dragged into it slowly can just be demoralising. The bottom 3 know what they need to do.

Bristol Rovers were only in the relegation places once the season they went down. After 46 games. Its a long way from over.

The year Pools stayed up you kind of knew it was only delaying the inevitable for them. All 3 of us deserved to go down that season - they just had their run at the right time. We had ours at the start of the season (leading in September) before falling off a cliff afterwards and then fucking around by employing Paul Chuckle!!!

I forget what happened at Tranmere.

I mean maybe but let's not get it twisted, we went down because we had a literal con man as a chairman, who sold everything that wasn't tied down, the season after the 'Great Escape' season we were comfortable mid table Andy's.

Anyway, I don't have a dog in this race but if you look to the Natural Order you'll see the correct thing would be the return of Barrow and Stevenage to their rightful place in the hellhole league, preferably replaced by Torquay and everyone's favourite North Eastern outfit! :shifty:

I trust the Grimsby fans are all fully behind the mighty U's right? If we were to be 4 points better off the side in second place by the time they visit fortress Abbey, we just might let them have the win, and we might even agree to ship in (insert the required number of goals here) they would need to score for GD purposes. A proper side wins the title and a proper side stays up. A win-win scenario IMO :2thumb:

Unless it's Southend then that's gonna be an absolute dickload of goals we'll be needing, but yeah you lot being up would be good. When we went down to the Conference we got a bit stitched up by this as Barnet turned an already promoted Rochdale over on the final day, meaning our result at Burton was always gonna be irrelevant.

If Southend carry on playing like they did last night, Grimsby and Barrow are going to need to catch someone else, no way are they going down based on that.

Tranmere might be a bit knackered after the Pizza Cup final and it will perfect for Stefan Payne to fire a few into the net off his arse cheeks. He is lethal at the 3 yard butt volley.

Except that Southend are picking up points when they're on the road, esp. at the top 7 sides. This leads me to assume that their game plan is a counter attacking based one, which of course is useful against the decent sides but wholly ineffective against the mid/lower mid sides.

Better scenario for us is Cambridge go into it in 4th place and 4 points from 3rd place but also guaranteed a play off place.
That way your players will not be wanting to get injured for the play offs and would boost our chances.

we're just plodding a long with a couple of draws recently, but the way games are coming thick and fast it would only take a particularly bad couple of games for us to be right in the shit. That being said, a couple of wins would make the world of difference too.

I'm hoping that we can take a bit of confidence from the 2 draws under clarke and grab a scummy win soon, we could drag ourselves clear pretty quickly if we stop conceding circus goals.

It seems that us, Grimsby and Barrow fans all quietly fancy our/their chances at beating the drop. Our form since December has been that of a mid-table side - we had 5 points coming into that month. If we can continue that form I’d have us as okay. These recent results must be installing some good confidence to a team who has been consistently losing for the past 2/3 years

I would still have us as favourites for the drop at the minute but a pleasing thing that the last few games have shown me is that if we do go down then we will go down fighting.

Yep, the one thing that gives me any confidence is the team showed on Tuesday that they can fight for it. Two days earlier I was convinced we were going down meekly.

If either ourselves or Grimsby manage to win one of our games in hand I don't think it's so much a relegation mini league anymore. But that's assuming it's still a similar gap by the time those games are played.

Just looking at the table and wondering where you draw the line, below which teams are still in danger

Walsall in danger of being dragged into it? 1 win 10 and a novice manager in charge.

A lot of football still to be played so I think there’ll definitely be one or two teams from 13th - 21st that’ll get dragged into it.

Colchester already going that way.

The thing that concerns me is that the bottom 3 seem to be picking up the odd win here and there and we seem to be getting shitter by the week.

1 loss in 4? Keep that up we will be ok. Even if it’s a draw to safety approach

Realistically, we probably only need four, maybe five wins between now and the end of the season and I do think we'll get them without too much trouble. Defensively we've been fairly solid, we're not getting thumped and we're still picking up quite a lot of draws despite the long winless run. That run won't go on forever.

I would have opted for Wayne Brown in the summer, so I do think that will lead to an improvement now. The squad is still largely the same as the one that spent all of last season in and around the top seven so there's more than enough quality there and a win or two will see us swiftly back into the relative comfort of lower midtable.

We do need to get on with it sooner rather than later though, and if we're still down there when we head to Grimsby in a fortnight then that will seem like a huge game, but I'm not completely worried just yet.

We've not been thumped all season either and look where we are! Have a bad feeling we might get a thumping on Saturday though, seems the most obvious thing in the world, up against Evatt in his new home.

Our games are becoming predictable......we will have 70% possession first half be a goal to the good at half time....Just before half time you will start to put a foothold into the game....At this point you will get on top you will either score or have your best spell. On sixty mins we will put a triple substitution who will then score a second to either win the game 2-0 or 2-1 depending if you get to score in that 25 when you are on top

Dont see us hammering any team but there again i cannot see another Port Vale

That has only happened once though. Even then it took a soft penalty to get the first.

I think we're more playing to how we're allowed. Scunthorpe sat in and we were able to dominate possession first half. 2nd half they didn't and we didn't dominate the ball.

I don't know if Barrow will come and sit back. They seem to have a go most weeks.

Jolley ball was sit back even at home, away it was even worse. We're not going to get out of the position we are in by relying on draws, so I think we will make a better fist of it tomorrow.

I'm not even sure we will be able to live with the Bolacticos - especially if Kieran "Played For Sheff Wed For Eight Years" Lee and the best left back in British football start. 6-0.

now now, maybe 0-0 going into the 93rd min and George Thomason fires one in from 30 yards
Cue every one going mental except George Thomason knowing he has put another nail in Barrows Coffin......A bit like Dennis law
