I'm not sure you ever had the pleasure of the Setanta Shield/ Carthium Cup. I think they have scrapped it now!
I went to Aldershot on a Tuesday night to see us lose 1-0 in that. I think that was a low.
Remember it well...sort of...we made it as far as the final, which was held at our ground, and managed to lose on penalties to AFC Telford after extra-time when the scores were still level at 0-0. I think the balls used for our penalties are still in orbit somewhere over Stroud.

Crap game, crap result and some crap twat (possibly not a Rovers fan) went and threw a crapping brick through a window on the Telford fans crappy coach...it was all crap!

Arse nipping time at Stevenage and Barra now like!

We're nailed on. There's absolutely no life in this team and we have a dinosaur manager that all 23 other clubs in this league wouldn't have touched with a bargepole. Oldham have a similar run in however given their initial results under Sheridan you'd say they're more likely to get a greater number of points than us. And they can actually score, which always helps.

Not yet, but if we lose on Saturday and teams below win, we’ll have to start looking over our shoulders again.

On my way back from Rochdale now. The worst display so far under Simpson. Really poor.

Can i be the first (on behalf of everyone in the football league) to wish oldham well against stevenage.

Nobody wants stevenage here, they serve no purpose. pointless club, pointless town. they should have already gone down, nobody likes them.

Come on oldham. we’re backing you.

Said we needed six points from the two games this week - well, there’s three! Win against Stevenage and it becomes a three way battle again

I'm no Satanage apologist (awful place,) but Oldham isn't much better. How many depressing Mancunian suburb clubs do we need? It's only saving grace as an away experience is the fact you can stop in Manchester and dont have to spend any longer than necessary actually in Oldham.

Same is true for Bury, Rochdale, Salford, Bolton, Wigan, Altringham etc etc.

In fairness as a place (especially around the ground) oldham is spectacularly grim. (i live in south manchester where it’s nice ) but thwn again stevenage isn’t clever.

For me it’s when stevenage cheated relegation which did for me, they’ve most knocked around the bottom half of the league for ages, and once they’re gone you know you won’t see them ever again

Oldham is like most places, around the center not great but some nice places and villages that are far from grim.
Dont know where you are from or support but you seem a little narrow minded.

As I said, what a time to be alive.
Sorry folks, been watching Oldham since 1976, just cant get excited at the prospect of your Stevnages, Crawleys, Mansfields, Hartlepools , barra's etc of the world.
But yeh there is the possibility of much worse.
No disrespect to any other club or groups of fans just not great to be an Oldham fan recently.
Believe me,you can't prepare yourself for that horror show of a league, no matter what other fans tell you.
Getting beat at home on a Tuesday night by a team who kick hell out of your players, while going down like they've been shot.
The cheating/conning of guillabe refs, some are a disgrace to the game of football.
If Pools were still in that league,I'd have chucked it all in.

and you lot were not even there that long.
An example of what it's like would be the Wrexham v Dover game last weekend. Richest club in the league at home to a team that usually makes Scunthorpe look like World Cup Winners. Wrexham go 2 goals up, half an hour or so later they're 5-2 down and eventually sneak a 6-5 win with 2 injury time goals. anything can happen in just about every match... And Trevor Kettle would be one of the best refs if he was down there.

The elitism shown by League 2 fans towards the Conference is the same thing they accuse Premier League fans of.

Non-league is great.
it's good when you've been used to nothing else, and the banter is better - but do you really want to go back?

Nobody wants to get relegated, but when we eventually/inevitably do, I won't be pissing and moaning. As a spectacle, it's no less entertaining.

That’s us all but safe now.

Unfucking-believable. 18 points from 7 games since Simpson came back. We were 100% going down a month ago with Keith Millen in charge. The turnaround is miraculous.

Considering the shit show he inherited, this is possibly the greatest managerial performance I’ve seen in my time supporting the club.

Who are you and what have you done with the real hellogregory?

The Setanta Shield was a glamorous competition. Well at least in comparison to the Isthmian League Cup

The Conference isn’t even proper non-league. Most teams are full time and segregate games. You’ve not had a real non-league experience until you’ve watched two sets of builders, bakers and fitness instructors fight out a goalless draw with 200 (at best) other spectators changing ends at halftime….

Exactly.

Take what you can get.

i’d rather held in high regards than be in the conference. if oldham go down their local game in the conference will be altrincham who they’d play on boxing day and new year’s day.

Also coming up from the conference north/south are gateshead and maidstone as it stands, also in the conference south playoffs are footballing giants such a dorking (wherever the fuck that is).

I’d be shitting myself too.
Dorking are in Surrey...around about half way between Sutton and Crawley but a little to the west. Nice Market town turned into a commuter town. If you get to go there it's on the A24 and has trains from Lindon Victoria and Reading.

Bit of money around the club lately but not the amount around the top of the National league.

I would add: Dorking is a really nice place to drop into en route to Crawley, certainly if you're coming from the West.

Reckon if the team ever made the League, it might have an (inevitably subjective) claim to be the poshest town ever to have had a league club...

Certainly more expensive.

Denbies vinyard and things like that are quite fun to visit if youre in the area and of course there are good walks up Box hill.

I actually think the town itself is a bit of a ramshackle old place, not anywhere near as pretty as Harrogate in my book. The prices of houses is eyewatering though. Even 1mil doesnt get you much there, maybe a small 3 bed detached place with a tiny garden. If you've got 500-600k you might be able to get a 1950's 3 bed semi.

All the rich folk don't live in the town though, they go to places like Shere. I live in Surreh hills, darling.

We’ve got a good non league scene in Lincolnshire. Going to complete the set by spending time there like all the others…

Went to Gateshead years ago. Chips and LCL pils lager. Easy on the metro.
Maidstone only been to the Town Centre it’s okay.
Dorking, pain to get to looks like. But will probably go.
