Have Barcelona realised they're facing the threat of Bristol City yet? Suarez and Messi v Wilbraham and Diego Freeman
This league has some proper talent doesn't it - Wilbraham, 'Diego Freeman', and the deadly infront of goal Stevie May.

Aye because £110k is all you spent, no wages or owt :D

I'd be interested to know how Ipswich's wage budget compares to other clubs in this league actually, McCarthy is a top manager at this level.

Obviously Ipswich get bigger crowds than us but they're the type of club i'd like to emulate, quietly go about their business and work within their means.

I give you these figures for 13/14.

Our MD has said that for the 14/15 season, player costs have gone up 9% so wages look like they'll be around 15m. However, increased attendances, the return of addidas (showing 50 percent increase in merchandise sales), more games on tele, play off game income and the Cresswell deal, our revenue will look around 22m this time round.

To be fair, that's probably close to Yeovil's wage bill for that season anyway.

We've lost Matt Mills, Keith Andrews, Jermain Beckford and a few more, so our wage bill will be around low £20 million

What's Matt Mills like nowadays? Remember it wasn't long ago when Championship clubs were queueing up to sign him in excess of 5mill.

if he would stop his 50 yard passes out of play, he wouldn't be too bad

Well I thought you got all your players on loan and out of cornflake packets.

I was referring to this:

"To be honest...for Preston and Bristol City fans, the sad part is going to be a few games in when you watch players who were outstanding in L1 and realise that they are run-of-the-mill up in the Championship"

We've done quite well against championship teams in the cups recently.
Beat Norwich, Blackpool, Ipswich, battered forest and still lost but I'm fairly confident we'll be safe next season.

So are most of ours. We are going to struggle with the team at present.

Difference is kid I'm not lauding our squad as the greatest thing since AC Milan circa 1989

Bristol fans - ' our current squad would be good enough to stay up' an then reel off about 8 signings they need to make.

Rotherham VS Bristol first game of season at NYS, we'll bring em back down to earth with a bump.

Probably because they believe that we could be in for more next season than just a relegation scrap.

I don't think we're that far away from a top half Championship side - couple of areas to strengthen much like Wolves and Brentford did, and there's no reason as to why we couldn't challenge.

As for the offer - I'd certainly fancy Rotherham away and a good chance to get points on the board.

Dont know where these obnoxious comments have come from. I havent seen anything other than realism from the many city fans that have posted on this thread. Nobody thinks we are going to steamroller the championship and almost everyone has acknowledged the step up in quality and that we need to make four or five decent signings if we are going to be competitive. Top half is a realistic target for us but id be happy with anything above say 17th (my nerves couldnt take a relegation battle!) Seriously lads, you are trying to create arguments when there is nothing there. Let it go.

It's the constant rimming of Luke Freeman and some of the downright absurdity in other threads, being decent in League One is all well and good but there is still a step up.

Those Reading, Blackburn, Wigan and Bolton wagebills are hilarious.....credit where it is due though, Burnley going up that season has to give everyone hope.

I might be wrong but I think the highest our wage bill ever got at this level was about £12m which was still above our means and we slashed it to £6.5m in our relegation season. Not sure what we were spending in League One but I expect that figure dropped even more and our owner claimed we're debt-free the other week meaning he's probably written off what is owed to him.

Hopefully we've learned from previous mistakes, I reckon our wagebill this season will be a fair bit under £10m.

What absurdity would that be? I havent seen anything. You dont need to tell us about the step up, we know all about it, it was only two years ago when we were last here and we had our asses handed to us pretty much every week. As I said, stop creating arguments out of nothing. Id like to think that this can be a decent championship forum this season but posts like that arent going to help.

Have to agree with this, remember last year when we got promoted I going on about how good Danny Batth was and how he would go onto dominate in this league. Turns out he can be really slow and and attacking player of quality can tear him a new arsehole. He's still a decent defender at this level but not the worldbeater I was making him out to be.

What planet are we living on here? Bristol I've just come up and have a top of championship side?

Don't think there's any player of note i'd have from you in our team and we were fucking wank last year put it that way.

That happened only twice last year against Wolves and Bournemouth where we conceded a load, why the fuck would Bristol with a front two of Agard and Wilbraham think they'd do the same?

In addition are you really saying the team we finished with last season (only fair thing to go off).

Emi Martinez
Daniel Lafferty
Kirk Broadfoot
Craig Morgan
Jack Hunt
Ben Pringle
Richie Smallwood
Kari Arnason
Jordan Bowery
Danny Ward
Matt Derbyshire

Are you seriously saying that team would get battered by a side that included Aaron Wilbraham and fucking Aden Flint?  fuck off.

Jeez, and I thought you were the WUM around here

But I'd still have Bristol City's squad over Rotherham's any day of the week.
