Liga BBVA :fl:

Both European winners are Spanish and have 4 teams in the quarter finals of all European Competitions.

To make a correction, this is level wise. Not entertainment, if so the Premier League wins this by a mile.

Shocking attendances, shocking atmospheres, two teams fighting for it almost every year. If you want to discuss "level" you can talk about Barcelona and Madrid being the best 2 teams in the world if you like, nothing to do with the league.

That's why Atletico are the defending champions and were runners up in the Champions League. I agree that the atmosphere is absolutely shocking, but its comfortably the best league in the world and it has been proven this season and last season.

In the Champions League.

3 Spanish Teams
1 Italian Team
1 Portuguese team
1 German team.
2 French Teams.

If it's entertainment it's either the Championship or the Buli. PL is boring as hell.

If you could tell me what you're using to define "the best league" that would be great. Ta.

Highest level.

I'll label each league.

Highest level: Liga BBVA
Most entertaining: Premier League (In my opinion)
Best atmosphere: Argentina Primera Division
Best players: Liga BBVA
Most competitive: Ligue 1

Really? Last year PSG won the title by 9 points, the year before it was 12 :dk: You can't base the merits of a league on one season alone :ffs: If by highest level you mean Barcelona and Real Madrid are two of the best teams in the world then yes, but you could make the same argument for Bayern in the Bundesliga.

The other top Spanish sides aren't too bad either, Sevilla are current EL Champs and Atletico, Bilbao and Valencia have all won it since the millenium too, its not just about the big two being exceptional sides. Those others on their day would give any top European side a game. There is strength in depth in La Liga, though not as much as the PL of course.

In my opinion, the bottom half of the PL is better than the bottom half of La Liga. Cardsfan, do you keep on forgetting that Atletico are the current spanish champions? I like you mate but you're having a bit of a shocker here. Look at Ligue 1 this year and the years before money took over France.

I did say almost every year. Atletico Madrid had two world-class players in Courtois and Costa and sold them because they can't keep up financially with Real and Barcelona. Money has taken over France though, it's been close this year but I still see PSG winning an overwhelming majority of the Ligue 1 titles in the next 10 years.

Championship can't be too far off a top 10 in the World though surely, perhaps even top 15?

Got the entertainment, got the fanbase, quality isn't too bad (a number of international players, a few go to international tournaments).

I'd certainly say so. As virtually everyone admits that the Premier League has the best bottom half in the world, it logically follows that the Championship is one of the best second tiers in the world (the best IMO) - although the gap between the two is increasing due to TV Money etc - I'd certainly have it in the Top 15 - maybe pushing at a Top 10 though it's difficult to compare as no championship team plays continental football regularly.

I'd put it in 14th. Its tough. Brazil has some good teams, and of course there are the Dutch and Turkish leagues.

I didn't but it's no surprise. I haven't bothered watching MOTD all season - Buli highlights on a monday night are what I look forward too!

For me, the Premier League is the best in the world in terms of entertainment. And that's mostly because every defence in that league is terrible.
But can't fault the atmosphere and fast paced football.

In terms of Ligue 1, it's certainly competitive this year with a 4 horse race. But I think that's only because PSG have been well below par. Marseille and Lyon have both performed above expectations this season which is great to see.
Unless something drastic happens PSG will continue to win Ligue1 comme Lyon in previous years.
I'd rank it 3rd in the rankings behind PL and La Liga.

They're certainly proving people wrong the French Teams, but I still believe it to be below the Bundesliga because they don't have a super giant like Bayern Munich.

A bucket load of talented players coming through. Which is the main reason why Ligue 1 is a great league. No other league in Europe produces as many players like L1 do.
Atleast, it's not predictable as the Bundesliga.. Hmm I wonder who'll end up winning that league?

the portugese league produces much more talents, also the eredivisie furthermore are in average the bundesliga players younger as their counterparts in france.

Bayern munich could win the league title in every country, thats a a stupid argument.

I'm not saying they couldn't. But nobody in Germany can atleast challenge them. Winning the league in March last year and running away with it again. How is that exciting to watch?
Granted, good players come through in Germany and fans/atmosphere is great. But not a very competitive league.

Neither is Ligue 1 since PSG got oil-rich. They've won comfortably for 2 consecutive seasons and although they're underperforming this year, they will likely win the overwhelmingly majority of Ligue 1 titles in the next 10 years. I do however disagree that the Portuguese league produces more talents as the gulf in class between the top and bottom half there is huge - the likes of Diafra Sakho and Bacary Sauna came from bottom half teams in Ligue 1 - most of the teams in the bottom half of the Liga Portuguesa are virtually unheard of.
