I had Inside Out at 19th. Up there with Pixar's best imo, just a really neat idea/story (and yeah, I loved Numskulls too).

Also had Pete's Dragon. The main one that snuck into my list based on nostalgia. Not seen it in years but used to watch it all the frigging time growing up. The remake could be so good but most probably will be shit.

Just got back from Norwich after seeing Inside Out today actually. Like all Pixar films (except Ratchef) it was another cool story, probably would have made my top 20 too.

Never heard of Holes, watched Homeward Bound 2 with the kids yesterday not as good as the first, (and the reason for the animals losing their family annoyed me), which is a classic like Petes Dragon, but neither made my list as I just voted for Disney Classic and Pixar.

Oops, I (for no particularly good reason) was mentally working towards a midnight deadline. I would have submitted a delightful Disney animated canon list UNSULLIED by live action or Pixar (actually there's a very good chance I wouldn't have done as I'm inherently unreliable when it comes to these things). Let's just hope you bastards chose well.
That's mostly what I went for - a few Pixar but no live action rubbish.

Bambi and Fantasia gone from my list, quite surprised that no one else picked the latter.

43rd) 101 Dalmations (8) (8) (8) (1) = 25

1269769470.jpg

The first film in the countdown to make four people's lists. I'm a tad disappointed this didn't feature higher as it was another favourite growing up. The animated version in particular appeals to me more than the live action remake despite Glenn Close's superb portraying of Cruella de Vil. For me, Cruella is one of the great disney villains of all time. I remember she truly terrified my cousin whenever we watched this.

IMDB rating: 7.2

Rotten Tomatoes: 98%

(Animated version)

42nd) Honey I shrunk the kids (7) (14) (5) = 26

Hang your heads in shame, how did this not place higher! One of Disney's best live action movies without a doubt. Rick Moranis' wacky inventor Dad character became a cult favourite amongst the film world in the late 80s/early 90s. This film had everything you'd want. Four diverse child personalities. A stunning portrayal of a magnified garden. And a real tearjerking moment when an ant dies. Yeah, we see an ant murdered by a scorpian. On another note, this family have a bloody scorpian running around in their garden. Jeeeeeeeez

41st) National Treasure (13) (14) = 27

Proper good fun this. If you like a good easy to watch adventure movie, this is for you. Don't expect any awards or much critical acclaim. There are goofy gags and ridiculous moments where you question how the authorities can be so bloody stupid. Plus it has Nicholas Cage which is divisive in itself. But all in all, it's an adventure and it's completely harmless. And you never know, we might even get a National Treasure 3 someday, it's been in production for about 6 years now!!

Watched Honey I Shrunk the Kids in work last week for the first time in probably over 20 years! It's still a very good film to be fair, funny, great characters, I expected the effects to look much more dated than I remembered too but they actually held up pretty well

Here comes the rubbish update in which I need your help with.

Joint 40th) Bedknobs and Broomsticks (20) (8) = 28

bedknobs-and-broomsticks2.jpg

I've never seen it so I can't really make any comments here at all. Erm, it's a flying bed so I suppose it must be good........

IMDB rating: 7

Rotten Tomatoes: 63%

Joint 40th) The Rescuers (14) (14) = 28

m2.jpg

Again, a film I have never seen. It looks like a pair of mice that rescue people. I suppose it must be good........

IMDB rating: 6.9

Rotten Tomatoes: 83%

38th) Alice in Wonderland (2) (8) (13) (7) = 30

I was never sure about Alice in Wonderland as a kid. I found the whole thing quite trippy and it used to freak me out a bit. Although I saw it a couple of times, the madness never really appealed to me. Again, I'll leave this to somebody who can review it far better than me.

IMDB rating: 7.4

The Rescuers is indeed about a pair of mice who rescue people - a good old fashioned adventure film. I don't really remember the plot details, but it was one of my childhood favourites.

Never a big fan of Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Think I just preferred Mary Poppins.

Rescuers was one of mine, loved it when I was a kid. Madame Medusa was a genuinely creepy Disney villainess.

Alice in Wonderland was on mine, but I think I left it out in the end. I read both of the books religiously when I was a kid so of course I loved it! I always quite liked the bit where she grows too big and wrecks the White Rabbit's house! While opinions on the live action remake a few years back seem to be mixed, I thought that was really good.

How can anyone not have seen bedknobs and broomsticks? Absolute classic. The football match in particular is a brilliant part.

Cameo from Brucie as well, what more do you simpletons want?

Angela Lansbury, yes. And dont be knocking Mrs Fletcher! She's no Miss Marple, but Murder She Wrote is compulsive daytime TV viewing!

37th) Flubber (12) (19) = 31

Flubber.jpg

I saw Flubber not too long ago and it's fair to say it's not quite the movie I remember. As a kid I was astounded by this green ball that shape shifted and that was incredibly bouncy. Watching back as an adult, it's a bloody silly movie and not one of Robin Williams' best. Still, it has some fun moments, typified most by the basketball game scene.

36th) Wreck it Ralph (6) (12) (13) (1) = 32

Wreck-It-Ralph.jpg

I've never seen Wreck it Ralph all the way through. I keep catching different half hour segments every time I switch it on. I have liked what I've seen though although I do get the impression that whilst it's very good, it doesn't quite go down as a classic. I do really like the end of the film though where the race is taking place. One of the better modern Disney films.

IMDB rating: 7.8

Rotten Tomatoes: 86%

35th) Sleeping Beauty (10) (15) (8) = 33

24831_sleeping-beauty-4.jpg

Another Disney film I haven't seen since my youth but this one goes down with the classics of the early Disney era. It also boasts a classic Disney villain in Maleficent who is definitely one of the more frightening early baddies. The story is a typical traditional love tale although I think it's made more than that by having Maleficent as the preventer of happiness. It also paved way for girls romantically dreaming about being awoken by their own Prince Charming one day. Just imagine that morning breath though after being asleep for that long...........

That's your lot for today as I'm out tonight. Will try and get a couple more up in the morning before I head off to watch the Daggers lose.

I'm surprised Sleeping Beauty is so low on the list.

It's a shame to see Flubber make it in ahead of the 1961 Disney version, "The Absent-Minded Professor" - which was much more enjoyable.

Damn! Wreck It Ralph and Sleeping Beauty two of mine to fall!

Couldnt not go and see Wreck It Ralph being a gamer, but I enjoyed it for a lot more than just all the little game nods. Really good characters and story.

And yes, Malificent is easily the best and scariest Disney villain. Its ont of very few Disney films where the title character is probably the most boring one in it, The film is absolutely stolen by Malificent, with good characters too in the 3 fairies, and unusually for an early Disney Prince, he actually has to do something and not just turn up at the end and get all the glory. Definitely one of my favourites of the old Disney classics.

Have you seen the movie Malificent with Angelina Jolie, Smudge?

It's a good watch if you haven't.

The mess of a pink and blue dress was much cooler than either the pink or blue dress as well.

Loved Wreck it Ralph - probably my favourite modern disney movie.

For someone who's compiling a Disney list Lee, you don't seem very enthused by most of the films on the lists ;)

This made my list as well, loved it as a kid and it's possibly my favourite live action Disney movie. I even loved the sequels (Honey I blew up the Kid and Honey we Shrunk ourselves) but the original one was always the best.

This is an odd one for me. Like so many other gamers, I assumed I'd like this, plus when I saw that it was getting great reviews it was fair to say that I was very excited for it when I got around to watching it. And while I certainly didn't think it was poor, it was nowhere near as good as I'd hoped it'd be.

This being said, I rewatched it on a flight on the way back from Los Angeles and, without that hype going into it just taking it as the movie it is I enjoyed it a lot more the second time around. While it never hit my own expectations, it is still a fine movie I guess, perhaps even a pretty good movie and it seemed to follow on nicely from Tangled and lead into the monster that is Frozen in paving the way for Disney animation to start getting back to its very best.

This is the section where most of the ones on the list just passed me by as a child. I'll be much better when the top 20 comes around.

If only somebody with a bit more knowledge hadn't given up eh. :box:

Plus without Lee we wouldn't have that feature as Cas pussied out.

Always preferred Bernard and Bianca (is it weird that the male is said before the female mice?) in Australia and not the first one. One of the rare Disney where I thought the sequel was better than the original.

Haven't seen Sleeping Beauty properly I reckon. Never was a big fan to give it a watch.

With this thread running, it's got me in the mood to check out some Disney movies that I'd never got around to seeing. So I've just watched Mulan for the first time ever. And it was actually pretty great, I found that I enjoyed it more than I thought I would for some reason and now I feel a little silly for not getting around to seeing it sooner. Glad to see that it's managed a decent finish on this thing (assuming it has made this thing, and didn't just pass by without getting any votes at all  )... not sure it would have made my own list, but that's probably more to do with the fact that I've only just seen it within the last few hours

So with Mulan done and watched, I reckon I've done a pretty good job of getting through a lot of Disney movies that I'd never seen properly in the last few years. The likes of The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and now Mulan are all films that I'd either seen bits/most of but never seen in full until recently. Just looking through the main Disney animation films (and ignoring the shit ones nobody has ever heard of... what the hell is Saludos Amigos?) I think that Pocahontas, Hercules, Lilo and Stitch, Treasure Planet and Big Hero 6 are about the only big movies that I have left to match... and most of those seem to be on Netflix. I think that this feature has got me inspired to get that lot watched.

Saludos Amigos has Donald Duck in it, it's a classic.

Lilo and Stitch is excellent but didn't make my list, as for Big Hero 6, brilliant especially if you're a super/comic book hero fan.
