Right, so I don't know how to do this "joint" thing like what number to choose, so I'll just do a countdown and will joint them together at the end.

Here goes. First the 4 shows that didn't make it to the top 50. 2 big names out already.

#50. M.A.S.K - 2 points (1 list)

M.A.S.K was an animated series based of the toy company. At the time, it was popular to turn toys into animated series'. Other examples are G.I. Joe and Transformers. It was broadcast on CBS, Cartoon Network and Disney XD. Since the Wiki page has no information about its original broadcast, a fair assumption would be that it was a CBS show. It ran from 1985-1986 lasting 2 seasons.

#49 - Ducktales - 2 points (1 list)

Ducktales is a series based on Uncle Scrooge and his grandnephews. It is based off the comics created by Carl Barks, in the duck universe. It lasted 4 seasons and had 100 episodes. The show is about Uncle Scrooge who is the richest duck in the world, but tries to find ways to increase his wealth. On February 2015, Disney XD announced a reboot of the show coming in 2017.

Masks are a potent device; in art, in performance, in revelry, in ritual, in wrongdoing. They occur across continents, cultures and history. So prolifically and variedly that to ponder them as brief generalisation is risky, if not outright folly. But to do precisely that - they speak to, and are borne of, primal and inchoate impulse.

It is obvious to say that masks can be a means of concealment and deception - the mask (be it physical or metaphorical) of the robber, the liar, the pretender. But we may also say that a mask can be transformatory and emancipatory. That disguise can be a conduit to our true selves, rather than a diversion from. A force for good.

M.A.S.K succinctly examines all of these possible readings, effortlessly weaving an ambitious semiotic heft into a breezily dramatic text. Bien pensant dabblers would likely point to Transformers as the germ of such themes in an animated, toy-promoting context, but they would be mistaken, and idiots. M.A.S.K is to Transformers (and feel free to chime in here, Pagnell) as Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum is Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code. One a fathoms deep pondering of the very nature of the self, a beguiling quicksilver that slips through the fingers just as soon as it has been grasped, Las Meninas refashioned as a jeep that turns into a submarine; the other a suburban garden pond, shallow, leaky and brown, crippled by ersatz literalism, and reflecting only the dismal visages of those who gaze into it.

Around the World in 80 days lasted 16 episodes. It lasted one season and aired on NBC.

American Dad was created by Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy and later The Cleveland Show. American Dad used different type of humor to Family Guy not relying on cutaway gags. Its humor relies on its quirky characters. It is an Animated sitcom.

#45 Bobs Burgers - 4 points (1 list)

Bobs Burgers is a show created by Loren Bouchard who also created the series Home Movies. It debuted in January 9th, 2011 and is currently in its 5th season. It currently airs on Fox. It was renewed for a sixth season which will begin on September 27th.

#44 Over the Garden Wall - 4 points (1 list)

Over the Garden Wall is a mini series on Cartoon Network. It is based off of Tome of the Unknown, an animated short film. The plot revolves around 2 brothers who are trying to find their way out of the forest. It was released between November 3rd to November 7th.

#43 Felix The Cat - 4 points (1 list)

The series starting famous character Felix The Cat aired between 1959 and 1961. It lasted 5 seasons and had 126 episodes It was created once Otto Messmer retired from the Felix newspaper strips.

Over the Garden Wall was mine. Other than episode 9, which is a backstory episode, the whole miniseries unfolds within the confounds of a seemingly mythical world from which the two main characters are trying to find their way home. It draws heavily upon 19th century North American folklore and is very much entrenched within the fairytale mould, right down to each 10 minute episode’s titles. It’s an enchanting story with a bizarre cast which, combined with the setting, draws obvious parallels to Alice in Wonderland. In terms of appearance, the human characters aren’t a million miles away from wide eyed Craig McCracken characters however they’re set against two main palettes of colour; warm autumnal tones when we’re viewing the more jovial moments and dark blacks, greys and stark reds when the characters are in danger. This flitting between contrasting colours to convey mood is a device used at times in a similar way to certain Miyazaki scenes. Aired on Cartoon Network, this is not a typical Cartoon Network animation. Cartoon Network should be applauded for putting faith in what is a unique and ambitious project. The fact that Over the Garden Wall beat The Simpsons, South Park, Archer (ugh) and Bob’s Burgers to an Emmy just last week is hopefully a sign that both production and recognition among western animation is set to undergo at least a slight shift.

X-Men is a series based on the comic book character made by Marvel, X-Men. It aired on Fox kids between 1992 and 1997. It was the second try at an X-Men Series. The first one, X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men had a pilot that was not picked up.
