Pah, that's easy compared to the stuff I've played mate.

Fifa career mode on amateur is absolutely brutal.

I know the OP is a WUM, but I actually think this is an interesting discussion.

Call of Duty has got ridiculous over the years, with all the 15 year olds absolutely sweating their bollocks to be 'MLG.' Unless you play CoD frequently, and you know all the spawn points, and head glitches etc, it's hard to compete with these sweaty bastard.

Same with FIFA as well - some of the kids you come up against are fucking ridiculous, and you end up being on the wrong end of an 8-0 after 27 minutes.

To be fair with COD, I don't play it all that much (only ever prestiged on one game, Black Ops) but I've always found that I do pretty good with it. I mean yeah, you do get some real nerds out there who dominate, but I still come out of most games having done pretty well.

Off of the top of my head, I'm tempted to say Alex Kidd. Towards the end, that game gets brutal, and even if you make it through the hard stuff, you can still find yourself losing lives on rock, paper, scissors games.

Other tricky games:

Uncharted, in parts, is fucking solid.
That last dude on Fight Night Champion.
On the topic of fighting games, Seth from SF4 is a bastard, as is Jinpatchi on Tekken 5 or whatever it was.
Super Meat Boy.

Oh, another one... Guitar Hero on expert. Some songs are fucking impossible unless you're like my brother who spent his life on the damn games.

Uncharted was fairly challenging on crushing difficulty. Toughest though? Hmmm. Ninja Gaiden Black on the highest difficulty. Actually, the toughest game I ever did was Devil May Cry 3 on DMD mode whilst getting a rank of SSS. Which basically means not getting hit. Ever.

Max Payne 3 was challenging and not in a good way.

I had a game on the NES called Sword Master, only 7 levels but rock hard. One of the few games I didn't complete on the NES

Not sure if it was because I was young at the time, but the hardest game I remember playing is Sonic Spinball on the Sega Mega Drive. Think there was only five levels and I never got past level two. I was awful at video games then though...

Which DM3 was it? I heard they re-released the game because it was too hard

I just straight up can't play games like DMC, Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden on anything resmbling a challenging difficulty setting because my eyesight isn't the greatest and I find it near impossible to register everything that I see, so I'm always a split second off for dodges and counters, etc.

I found Dark Souls II difficult, but challenging 'difficult' rather than flatout 'hard'. Patience, rather than skill, got me through.

The lion king for the Megadrive

Its nice and easy until you become adult Simba! Its like the last 4 levels they've been preparing you for the fact that adult life is just stupidly difficult and you'll yearn for the days when you were a kid blitzing through the elephant graveyard!

Oaf beat me to my picks. Alex Kidd is obscene late on, some nigh on impossible jumps that even withe using save states on emulators since, it still took me forever to beat the game. To be that good without using saves and complete the game legit is surely impossible. And Super Meat Boy...oh Super Meat Boy...I like to think its a game Im good at, Ive completed over 300 levels, completed the main game and got 10 of the 12 achievements on the Xbox version...100% it? Ive accepted that I never will!

I suppose it belongs in this thread, whats the toughest game that you're actually proudest of beating legit? Mine's probably Mass Effect 3 on Insane, that took a lot of patience, because there are so many fiendish bits, in particular the last big fight of the game in the square. I found 1 & 2 fairly easy on Insane in the end, as I had such a high levelled character from multiple playthroughs, and played as an Infiltrator. That made things nice and easy because the cloak and snipe technique was deadly, while the cloak also made enemies just ignore you! They made that harder in 3 by making most of the areas quite circular, so you couldnt just find a corner at the back to hide in and snipe. Had to play that one through the hard way.

Golden Axe I used to be boss at and complete it easy every time I played it when I was a kid! Then its like I lost all my powers and I die on like the second level!

Nope, my Mum of all people managed to complete it way before I did! I was 7 when she finished it, fast forward 20 years and I finally managed it too.

Super Meat Boy was hard enough on normal mode let alone even attempting the later dark worlds or the I Wanna Be The Guy warp zone. I'm not even sadistic enough to try playing I wanna be the Guy itself!

Speaking of difficult beat 'em ups (Golden Axe is a cinch, really) then Streets of Rage 3 is up there. You can't even finish the game properly on Easy difficulty and then Normal cranked it up a lot. Also, if you want the good ending then you have to beat the final boss in less than three minutes which is extremely hard given that he has five life bars, has cheap moves and flies around the screen constantly. I managed to fluke it once.

Bloodborne is probably the most difficult in recent years for me. You can't rush in on that game.

COD even on its hardest difficulty is pretty easy.

No way! Is she some kind of gaming God?

Ive not done the Guy warp zone...I have however attempted the Kid...I have to move on and say no more or the tears will start all over again!

Jet Set Willy, impossible.

Similar game, has anybody played Technician Ted on the Speccy? I always enjoyed this review of it in Retro Gamer... http://www.retrogamer.net/retro_games80/technician-ted/

I remember the likes of Streets Of Rage and Golden Axe being really tough, don't think I ever got to the end of Rainbow Islands either. Goldeneye is worth mentioning too, some of the missions are practically impossible on 00 Agent.

Not so much the hardest game ever all the way through, but if you did somehow manage to get to the last boss, he was nearly impossible...Spiderman vs the Kingpin! Tough game anyway, on a time limit as the gist of the game was that Kingpin had planted a bomb to go off in 24 hours. You lost 2 hours every time you lost a life, the bosses were all tough, then you got to the final level, and had to fight them all again before progressing to Kingpin. Then when you got to Kingpin, having disabled the bomb so could rest easy about the time limit issue...there was a new time limit issue! As you had to beat Kingpin before he dropped Mary Jane into a vat of lava (like all supervillains, he just had one lying around going spare...) Okay, no probs, lets just beat Kingpin quick...no, you could only hit him with flying kicks in the face (which were generally a rubbish attack, so you had probably never used it to this point...), and if he hit you, you flew across the room, so had to waste more time running back to him! An absolute killer of a game.

Ghouls n' Ghosts on the Mega Drive. I spent hours trying to finish it.As other have already said Streets of rage 3.Only completed it on easy and normal difficulty. Kid Chamelon went on for ages and you couldn't save it.

EDIT Also Dawn Of War: Dark Crusade, campaign on anything above normal= only just built my command centre (first building) and i'm getting rushed by enemy

Starcraft 2 1v1 multiplayer. The better you get at it the harder it gets. I've been playing it on and off since it came out and I've still not gotten higher than platinum league (4th tier league!)

Younger gamers won't realise this, but Jet Set Willy (ZX Spectrum) was literally impossible to complete. Bugs eh?
Absolutely, one false move and your twenty lives would go in an instant! :D
