Liverpool being linked with Sadio Mane.

They are fucking obsessed with us.

You've certainly done alright out of Liverpool in recent years, you must have rebuilt a few squads now out of their cash!
Have never seen the hype about Mane, one excellent game in 5? Get 20m and run I say.

He did have a lengthy spell where he was quite disappointing but he started and finished the season strong. He's still young and will go onto big things under the right guidance.

I'd be disappointed if he left us for a team that finished below us in the league but they can obviously give him a much higher wage.

Still, our track record of replacing the guys who have left for Liverpool isn't bad. We usually replace them with players who are cheaper and better. Only time we've failed is when it's come to replacing Clyne.

Add consistency to Mane, which will probably come as he gets older and he'll be one of the best attacking midfielders in the league. He certainly is on his day.

I'd be disappointed if he left us for a club outside of the Champions League, as that's his level. While in today's market many Saints fans are saying they'd hope for at least £30m for him, and I'd agree. Other than Schneiderlin we haven't sold a better player since we came back up here.

Always been impressed by Mane when he has played against us as he always scores and looks dangerous. Don't see him every week though so dunno if he's worth the quoted figure, but I'd be happy to have him at Liverpool.

Jamie Jackson (c***) reckons that Ibra and Willian are both wanted by Jose and both also want the move. Ibra seems like a done deal at this point and I'd love Willian. We do need a right winger and he would fit the bill perfectly but Conte understandably wants to keep him at Chelsea.

You're up there financially and have done great business brand-wise; but are miles and miles behind those other teams on success on the field though and that's what makes a superclub imho. Biggest in the UK by some distance though.

They're not 'miles and miles' behind Bayern or Barca in terms of on-field success, at all. Those clubs have edged ahead thanks to an outstanding past 7/8 years, but when/if Mourinho gets them back competing they'll be right back in amongst those again standing toe-to-toe with them.

It's true. They're not 'miles ahead' at all, unless you mean presently then fucken duh of course.

Barcelona have had some pretty lean decades. Hell, before the turn of the millennium even Real Madrid had done fuck-all in Europe for the better part of 40 years. If Man United get their shit sorted, they easily belong to that class of club.

Jockers is right, given he mentioned the last 7/8 years. Take that away and Barca have 3 less European trophies which drops them below Utd, Bayern would only have 1 more. Not much in it.

Whenever the Champions League starts, people typically start talking about 3 teams being automatic favourites. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Man Utd should right their amoung them. They have the off field stature and independent financial clout to get among that group. Mourinho will certainly see himself as the man to get them up there.

Also add Juventus to that list, I reckon they will win it in the next 5 years. PSG probably too

If PSG don't win the champions league soon then that's a major under-achievement for them.

Aren't we all?

It's different for us - Ed "Galactico" Woodward has probably submitted a handful of bids for him already!

Why? Because we have Ibra? Our strategy is all wrong: we are putting too much pressure on winning the CL unlike any other club. When Juventus went out to Bayern in 1st KO stage, their world didn't fall apart, same with Bayern and Barca who got knocked out by Atletico. The sooner we start playing down our chances and go with the usual "we'll do our best" type of catchphrase that is said over and over by Barcelona, Bayern & Real, the sooner people will - quietly - think we have a real shot at the tournament. Right now we are winning domestic trebles like there's no tomorrow and the CL is basically our season. It shouldn't be this way. It isn't for Bayern (who are the closest comparable club in that they have the monopole on their league with little to no competition) so why should it be for us?
Plus winning the CL is a bit of a gamble y'know. Are Real Madrid the best side in Europe? Non, je ne pense pas.
