Ahmed Musa is close to signing for Leicester. He's 23 apparently...

We're apparently looking to wrap up a deal for Callum Chambers this week (presumably a loan).

I'd be delighted with that if it goes through. We're screaming out for a bit more (read:any) quality at the back

Matuidi has been given permission by the powers that be in the French national team to travel to England to wrap up a move to a Premier League club.

Rumours are it's United.

Quality signing if true. Wonder what will happen to Scheniderlin now Pogba and Matuidi (rumored) will be taking his positions.

Still think we'd need another striker if we let Benteke leave though; Sturridge is Sturridge, we will have to see how Ings and Origi progress. Firmino and Mane can play up there of course and Balotelli is still a Liverpool player, but he'll be off soon hopefully and I still reckon we are a bit short if we dont sign, unless Ojo can step up.

Problem is Klopp likes to Play with one forward. No one as good as Sturridge or better will be happy to stay on bench hoping he gets injured. And vice versa.

Matuidi is more of a box to box midfielder than a holding player and, even though Schneiderlin isn't the archetypal midfield DESTROYER, I think he'd play in a slightly more advanced position than Morgan.

You won't drop this 'Pogba to United is a done deal thing', will you?

Can't get my head around seeing clubs like Crystal Palace bidding £31M for a player. Madness.

Aren't United linked with James Rodriguez for the number ten position?

Surely Rooney will slot into the same role he played for United towards the end of the season and has been playing for England in the last couple of weeks.

In his press conference this morning Mourinho confirmed that Rooney wouldn't be a 6 or even a number 8 under his management but a 9, 10 or 9 and a half.

This doesn't quite tally with the rumours about him wanting a 4-3-3 formation with Martial, Ibra and Mkhitaryan as the front three unless he is planning on using an uncharacteristically attacking variation of the formation or he isn't planning on playing Ibra as often as we all seem to expect.

Been compared to Mahrez, Arsenal and Chelsea are also looking at him. No chance of us spending £30m though, really?....... :eye:

Yes new TV money means even Palace have it now, that on top of the fact they are a London club and have the London brand. It seems this year will be a real record spend. Especially with United likely to break the bank for Pogba.

Can't be many other PL clubs currently with a minus net spend so far? (Saints with Mane?)

-15m circa here. Although I'm hopeful / sure that'll change as we go.

Guessing we are right now. Seemingly loads of bids being put in but not many getting accepted.

Feghouli (free) and a few young players in, Tomkins (around £10-12m) out. Although if Lanzini is counted as a permanent transfer in this window, this probably puts us about evens.

Relatively young, knows the club, some of the staff and players. English premium. Plus we're weakening Burnleys title challenge! Gotta be worth double! Doesn't say much for Liam Moore though.

On paper and from what I have seen, there seems to be little to chose between them. I still had high hopes for Moore, perhaps they are looking to build a new young CH pairing, but that seems a very steep price to pay for it. Makes Stone's price tag look reasonable.

Tuttosport are reporting that Manchester City bid £38m for Bonucci and were rebuffed.

Good, he's a decent defender with the passing range to be a perfect fit for a Guardiola side.

I think "decent" is a gross understatement, pep once described him as one of his all time favourite players !.
I don't think you will be happy for long, I think they will go back in with a higher bid.

He's an excellent player overall, Pep particularly loves him because of his passing ability - I'm not sure I'd describe his pure defending capabilities as being amongst the very best though, which is why I referred to him as a decent defender rather than a decent player. Perhaps I was a little harsh on him, though.

You are probably right about City going back in with a higher bid - the Guardian reckon they are planning a £51m (!!) bid for him.
