The problem for him is that it's a world cup year and he's on a five year contract at a club with more money than we're able to spend. If we want to upset the food chain, like quite a few clubs have this summer, then we'll never be in a better position to do so. If Lallana was fit it'd be a slam dunk, put Coutinho in the reserves until he apologizes around september 3rd. Now putting him in the reserves would leave us with three senior central midfielders which is kind of shit.

Afaik dropping someone for their conduct isn't really a breach of contract. We can legally and financially let him rot. It's not like he'd hold out for long. But this won't happen, we need him very badly.

He's a good little player is Lanzini. Good on set pieces too. Not a bad fit for the central role that he'd take up if Cout departs but not as much use on the left of that front 3 as the Brazilian. Mind you West Ham don't really play that way to see if he's suited to it. But what would he cost now?
Luan at Gremio is apparently back on your radar, but he's more a striker, second striker. He was also a Leicester target last year. So... ambitious?
