The Ligue 2 player of the year (follows Giroud and Sahko) and top scorer for a promoted team is hardly an unknown. ALF has stated he will move to a 'northern club' which kind of rules us out.
The fact that Palace, West Brom, Leicester and Cardiff were keen on our new boy would suggest he has something about him but we will have to wait and see eh. We may have spunked over £2M on a player but Keith Burt and Cott's haven't put a foot wrong yet and we trust their judgement.

I'd bag 15 in French second division.

Looks a good player. At that price got to be a little annoyed we weren't in the picture for him.

Been very quiet at Reading the past couple of weeks rumours wise. Seems like our main targets were Donaldsson, who has signed a new contract with Birmingham, and Beric who is now receiving interest from Serie A and Bundesliga sides.

Clarke said this morning that he wants at least three more signings still. I'd imagine that's two strikers and a full back. Hopefully we can start making moves soon, don't want to leave it too close to the season starting.

Going by YouTube highlights (yes, I know!) and his goals/assists from the past couple of seasons he does look to have something about him. Really looking forward to seeing how he gets on.

Jonathan Douglas has been told he can find himself a new club apparently.

Rosler saying he is looking for 1 more winger, then we are practically done, well i'm well disappointed, imo we need 2 wingers and 1 CB, some kind of creative midfielder wouldn't have gone a miss either, oh well another good season then, Chris Wood already injured

Eh? What's that all about then? I know he's the wrong side of 30 now but I thought he was pretty much Brentford's midfield anchor.

Would have him here in a heartbeat, and we're very well off for centre-mids.

We're in advanced talks with Burnley over the signing of Jason Shackell. It's happening...

Reports of a £3m fee are wide of the mark, and it does not include Keogh going the other way.

There are some rumours he's fallen out with the owner / management after Warbs left.

He was amazing in the first half of last season, but I can see McEachran, Diagouraga and Kerschbaumer all being ahead of him in the pecking order.

Edit: Got to imagine that it's true that he's going, as it's Sky sources that are saying he's been told he can leave, and he's dating Nathalie Sawyer off Sky Sports News, so if it wasn't true I'm pretty sure they'd have had an easy way to find out!

We've also been linked with this guy - if true then it would be a replacement for Dougie anyway.

Simon Piesinger - DM for Sturm Graz, 8 goals last season coming up for corners. Sounds exactly like the kind of player we need.

The quiet summer at the CG continues. Quite refreshing. Still think we need to pull a couple of rabbits out the hat at left back and in midfield. Maybe a striker, though I imagine Maynard will be signing soon enough.

I heard you were paying £3m straight to Shackell to appease him and his new home making Texan wife.

Darikwa has handed a transfer request in at Chesterfield so hopefully we can push that one through now.

Our local paper saying were getting Abel Hernandez from Hull. I think these journalists put the name of every attacking player in the Championship into a hat, pick one out at random and then write up some crap in the paper saying we will get him...

Another link today, tweets from German press linking us to Philipp Hoffman, striker who plays for Germany's U21s. Scored twice against England earlier this year. Big striker but looks to have decent feet.

Not sure how much I believe it, but exactly the type of striker we want.

Him and Pieslinger in would complete our business and leave us looking a lot stronger.

Shackell would be a fantastic signing for us and perhaps our most important one of the season. It sounds good to say that you're signing a player that made more clearances than any other player across Europe's top five leagues last season.

I imagine that will be us pretty much done. I guess we'll dip in the loan market for one or two, but unless someone important goes then we should be sorted for the coming season.

The rumour mill appears adamant that we will be announcing the signing of Lewis Dunk in the next day or so. If so we just need a left back and we are looking set for the season

A bid of 4m from Fulham for Dunk banded around.

Dunk would have been my second option for Shackell - very good signing for Fulham if they can get it over the line.

Burnley turned down £2.75 million for Shackell last week, according to the Lancs Evening Telegraph, so it looks as though Derby must have increased their offer since the weekend. Three bids rejected since the original bid of £2 million last month).

£3 million is a good deal for Burnley, considering we bought him off Derby for only £1 million, he is 32 NEXT MONTH and only has a year left on his contract (and is currently carrying calf and back injuries:bg:)

I hope Shackell does as well as Lee Grant has done since going back for a second stint at Derby after a few good years at Burnley. (NB: Grant's replacement Tom Heaton won promotion to the Premier League and a call up to the senior England squad).
