I know Bristol City haven't signed anyone, but maybe the players that got them into this division deserve a chance at it? They did piss league one tbf.

Problem is, we've lost a number of players who each played a big part in getting us up; Wade Elliott, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, George Saville, James Tavernier, Matt Smith. As it stands those players have been replaced in the squad with 3 players who we loaned out to League 2 last season; Bobby Reid, Wes Burns, Adam El-Abd. (We've already loaned out Karleigh Osborne for the season.) Then you add in injuries to Fielding, Agard and Little, who will all probably miss the start of the season. This means that as it stands we're heading into the season with a squad of 13. El-Abd is also probably off as he hasn't gone on our pre season tour. So 12. None of our youth team players are anywhere near good enough to fill the bench either, hence why we often fielded just 5 or 6 subs last season.

Make that 11 as it appears Mad Frankie is now out and has flown home from Portugal. Either a metatarsal injury or a damaged back.
We need to do some serious shopping!

The lack of updates from the club irritates me too regarding transfer activity, although our situation isn't as bad as the one at Bristol City. I can see why they do it but I don't think it would hurt to be a little more open with the clubs fans about it. Not asking them to name names obviously as it would alert other clubs, but to say that they are actively trying to do business regarding bringing players in would be a step forward.

We have needed a striker and a winger to replace Sako all summer. The only movement I see is us doing is offering contracts to 16 year olds kids in their respective positions, all whilst rejecting any rumours for high profile signings. KJ saying Dave Edwards is good enough to replace Sako because we can't be arsed to spend money as an example is quite depressing.

I wouldn't despair too much if I was a Bristol City fan.

When Cotterill was manager at Burnley, he started the 2004/5 season with a wafer-thin squad - not enough for the official team photo.

I went to a friendly against Everton in late July 2004, and lining up for Burnley were John McGreal (ex-Ipswich) and Frank Sinclair (ex-Chelsea).

McGreal (31) and Sinclair (32) were both past their best but, for FREE transfers, were very good value for a couple of seasons in the Championship.

Cotterill had played his cards close to his chest, and hardly anyone in the ground knew that McGreal & Sinclair had been signed.

Rejected. Rightly so. Would be insane to accept that. Double it.

Also, no reason for Bentley to go to Hull. Two keepers on their books already.

Baffled why we didn't go back in for him for less than £500k, but if he couldn't get into Wigan's side last season clearly he's not quite cut out for the Championship just yet.

Rumours of us getting Adrien Trebel of Standard Liege today. A defensive centre midfielder. Something we need.
Still desperate for a left back and centre back, linked like most of the league for a loan of the Everton full back and news on Lewis Dunk and his four day medical have gone quiet. Shock.

apparently we wanted Jacobs and Saville from Wolves not sure if we still do after bids were rejected.

We probably offered £35 and a debenhams gift card for both of them :£

If, and I say if he signs, it's sounds very promising. Their fans seemed shocked he's not joining a top flight team.

6 million Euro's.

French Second Division Player Of The Year, sounds alright.

Palace and WBA had bids turned down for him.

Would just about make him the most expensive Championship signing this season wouldn't it? Just a bit more than Ince.

And league 1 fans were always saying about how we spent a lot! This would blow all of last seasons spending out the water.

Where did you hear it was that much? Surely that would be pretty much our entire budget and then some?

I'd imagine we'd have more than a £4.1m budget, as that's what it converts too.

Definitely a big risk if the sort of money being rumoured is true, given that he's unproven in this division.

Why do we think Sakho joined a Premier League club and Delort/This guy joined a Championship club?

Because West Brom and Palace didn't offer enough for him.

Why do you think they didn't outbid Bristol City?
I'm sure that if West Brom or Crystal Palace wanted him they'd have got him, but clearly they didn't value him enough to bid more than we have. Just because Delort came and failed, doesn't mean this player will, because as Aaron referred to, Sakho came over to this country and has done fantastically.

Agree with JJH. We got Bakary Sako from France in this division when teams like Everton and Aston Villa looked at him and deemed him not good enough. He turned out great for us, just because some scout for a PL side doesn't think he can cut it doesn't really stand for much.

Patrick Bamford is heading to Palace on loan for the season, and not to Middlesbrough or Sheffield Wednesday.

Been digging around and looks like he was close to signing for Leicester before Pearson got the sack too, Cardiff were linked with him back in May, as well as the Palace and WBA links so think Kodjia's either got reasonable enough talent, or a very busy agent, possibly a mix of both
