Kelvin Wilson confirmed.

Scott Allan, Jon Taylor and hopefully Christoffer Nymann joining the Miller shortly too.

Things are looking up, building a midfield that can compete with most in this division.

Please let all the above be true.

I have to say I can't remember the last time I felt so unenthusiastic about the start to a season.
I always love the first Saturday of the season but I was just not looking forward to Saturday at all.

I guess part of it is because we always had a load of new signings under Steve Evans, even if they were shipped out by January.

Plus missing out on the striker signings was a let down and the pre-season was rubbish.
The Grimsby match cancelled,no trip to Scotland and only the Sunderland match to give a modicum of excitement.
(BTW Those Sunderland fans were terrific around the town, very friendly and great to talk to before and after the game)

Still, things might just be looking up a little, let's hope so.

Allan and Taylor are definitely happening.

Think discussions with the Swedish club are over a fee atm, wages wouldn't be an issue.

From what I read Wolves paid 1.2 mil for this lad? At least it's an improvement as whilst I can't spell this lads name I at least knew who he was. Last good target man we had was Andy Mutch, Doyle used to spend more time on his arsenal than he did holding the ball up.

Craig backs up what I was saying yesterday about Tomlin having other offers, including one from the PL. As I said, it was pretty obvious that a player of his quality would attract such interest.

Sounds like positive spin by the local press, I'm sure Tomlin had interest from other clubs but given his career is just a series of fits and starts I doubt anyone seriously harbouring promotion hopes would risk it on someone who is divisive in the dressing room.

I know for a fact we wouldn't have gone near him as he wasn't the right fit. The big hitters or bigger hitters in this league I should say wouldn't want to put their eggs in the Tomlin basket if chasing promotion.

I agree with you, it would've been a risk for any club to sign Tomlin that haven't had him before, as you don't know what you're going to get with him, and he has been a bit of twat in the dressing room and on social media in the past.

He has obvious ability, but is a bit of a tit. I do wonder if it was Hull that were interested in him as this supposed PL club, given their shortage of players, and the fact that they tried for him on loan in January.

His showing at their place last season won't have done him any favours though.

I thought Hull when it said unnamed club, would make sense. He'd be the big fish in a small pond that he seems to crave.

Alex Pritchard is a great player, always looked out for him since the day he utterly took us apart at Brentford.

However given Brighton's side, with the likes of Kayal, Stephens, Knockhart, is spending 8m on Pritchard really what they need?

Also for all the many qualities Pritchard has, he's fairly quick but not exactly lightening, beating players for speed isn't his game. Glenn Murray couldn't outrun a snail these days, and there's Hemed who isn't quick either. Can they all work together?

Will be interesting to see, in what looks to be a crazy top end of the Championship this year.

Depends if they're going to change their system; if they're sticking with a 4-4-2 I can't really see where he fits in, though he'd be perfect in the number 10 role in a 4231/433.
JJH makes a good point, and this (potentially) very exciting signing has come a little bit out of nowhere. There's no obvious position that he'd occupy in the current 4-4-2 we play, so I'm guessing Hughton will adapt it slightly for Pritchard to play off the front man (be it Murray or Hemed) with Stephens and Kayal maintaining the midfield base behind him. The pace will still come from the wings with March, Knockaert, LuaLua etc.

Sounds like the fee is £5m potentially rising to £8m with add-ons (presumably one being promotion dependent). It's huge money for us, and on a type of player/position I hadn't even considered Hughton going for, but I trust that he has a plan for him. And if he does live up to the fee, the potential resale value is huge, especially with the market as it is now.

Just hope it doesn't mean Knockaert, Dunk or whoever being on their way to offset it.

The off topic ones yes, as TA did earlier in the L1 transfer rumours thread.

I would've moved them, but I couldn't find the 'South West vs Yorkshire' thread.

Don't think so sunshine, my reply to your 'am I missing something?' was very much on topic and an explanation you asked for with regards to my smiley post. This is a gross abuse of your position and I aint letting it ride this time.

It wasn't at all, you made things personal and went off on one about me.

I cannot believe how seriously you take this place, you've drove CiderUp away for good because you claimed that people may be offended by his 'bigoted remarks', and now you're throwing a mardy because your personal outburst was deleted.

Bless you, I think it's time for a sabbatical. I come on here to discuss all things with a good community, not to take cheap shots from a middle-aged Yorkshireman on my chin.

You quoted me in a post in an attempt to prove me wrong regarding comments I made days ago not even in an actual thread. I only responded because I was tagged in it. If you took offence at any of the post then edit it, but for the most part I responded with a valid argument. JJH

Not sure why I unbanned you to be honest, you're still being a twat, you've been given your chance now.

I didn't attempt to prove you wrong in any sense, just shared with you an article that I thought you'd be interested in reading.

As I've said, you come across very bitterly and nasty in this forum, a complete contrast to you in the shoutbox, and I'm not quite sure why.

Has CiderUp gone permanently? That's a proper shame if true
Yep, unfortunately.

Out of keeping with the current tone of the thread somewhat..

Blackburn have picked up Gordon Greer on a year's deal. Will do a job for another season I reckon.

Legs looked "gone" last year for me, swapping Hanley for Greer just shouts trouble.

Has never been able to run in fairness, always relied on positioning and reading of the game. Might struggle to adapt to a less familiar team/playing style though as he knew our system inside out.

We're apparently chasing Duffy from them too (along with a load of other clubs), so I don't know how the rest of their defence will shape up. Certainly seem to be downgrading anyhow.

How can people take a internet forum so seriously?

We are all here ( well the majority) to talk football with like minded people. It's a good forum, let's not let it go downhill.

Shame to hear about CU. Hopefully he'll be back. He can be a sensitive soul sometimes.
