Sometimes a defeat such as Tranmere suffered on Saturday might eventually be a blessing.
The manager and players know they have to up their game and quite often that happens.

For instance:
FGR lost to St Albans [from two divisions below] to then go and win next five games.

FGR were winning 4-1 against Oldham but had to settle for a 5-5 draw. Since then they have won 4 and drawn 2.
Two wake up call that the team responded well to.

Tranmere remain 2nd in table for auto-promotion. Therefore they are a decent side and one sole defeat doesn't alter that fact.
Good luck Tranmere for rest of season.
Like I mentioned before we are second because we have the best record in the division against the bottom half, not because we are a particularly amazing football side.

We had a complete squad rebuild in the summer and then essentially a smaller one this January so they aren’t fully gelled and it’s about grinding results rather than free flowing football.

Like players, managers can also have bad games and Mellon had one yesterday. But he’s still our second best manager ever.

I am not sure Mellon did have a particularly bad game to be honest. The starting line up and formation was as everybody expected, and after about fifteen minutes he changed to 532 when it became obvious we were being overrun.

Sometimes players simply don't perform and the opposition are better than you.

I had a read of match report in Gloucesterlive, which basically supports Cheltenham Town FC and is usually dismissive towards FGR.
Today it was a fun read and the reporter added some amusing play on words: - “This was a walk in the (Prenton) Park.”

He also noticed that Tranmere played several tracks from Meat Loaf and ‘Fast Food Song’ by Fast Food Rockers over the PA system ahead of the game. [I’d missed that at the time]

The reporter also said that at least 3 objects were thrown in the direction of Luke McGee. I only saw the bottle and smoke bomb but did wonder why Luke was hesitant at the goal kick before bottle landed nearby.

True, but the wing backs are vital to the balance of the side. They would not be half as threatening without them.
True but i think you might have given a correct answer to a different question. I know what you mean though.

It was an easy 2-0 in the end. Some of the Orient players didn’t seem to want the ball. Would be very disappointed if I was an Orient fan.
You get used to watching that utter shite week in week out

For two consecutive FGR away matches the home crowd have offered the unusual.
[1] At Northampton there was a mass invasion of the pitch when Northampton scored. I cannot remember such an incident during a league match. Cup matches yes, but league no.
[2] The bottle incident at Tranmere was out of character for the club. But it did give their supporters something to focus on rather than the game result.

I was critical of him sticking with the 532 and I do think we'd be overall better off changing the shape but everyone knew their role and the pressing was better than it has been. Odusina is transformed under him, to be fair the team are defending pretty well now.

6 clean sheets in his 12 games so far. We havent won many of them though because we can't score. Hopefully he can find a balance but he definitely seems the cautious type.
Agree that we should be looking to change formation, specifically at home. We need to start committing bodies forward more and try to take games by the scruff of the neck more, and give Grey more game time.

However I can agree with Lee sticking with the 532 away from home, particularly as we seem to be tightening up at the back and getting clean sheets as you pointed out.

Win home games, be horrible and compact and difficult to break down away from home.

Easy this management craic really…

I'm determine to keep that thought in back of mind.
I remember back to 2016 when FGR won first nine matches of season were nearly as well ahead of pack as today and yet still failed to get promoted.
I'm also remembering Kevin Keegan's famous remarks: "I will love it if we beat them, love it!" at a time when Newcastle had a 12 point lead over Man United who then went on to win title.

I'll only start to celebrate if and when FGR are mathematically assured of promotion.
The difference back then though was that only the Champions went up, with top 3 going up here I can’t see any way you won’t at least finish top 3.

Obviously I more than very happy at position FGR hold at top of table, but it is only January and only just half through the season. Still plenty of time for others to catch up.
After the win at Prenton Park my memory went back to season 15/16 when on a televised match at Aldershot, FGR completely dominated the game, so much so that pundits anointed the title on FGR's head.
Following that game it went completely pear shaped. Heaven forbid the same does not happen this season but it shows that FGR have form for ballsing it up for themselves.

Sunderland fans are throwing Rod Edwards name in the ring to replace Lee Johnson.

Rob Edwards is an average manager who is fluking his way to promotion playing a style of football 'not even in the top 10 in the division' according to a highly regarded League 2 expert and former Southern League referee from Devon. Sunderland don't need to be interested.

It was 282, posted on appropriate thread too.
Hmm. Someone could probably count that photo. Assume you all hate each other given the social distancing going on there.

Fair play to the ones that made the trip, wonder whether a stadium move would increase your support at all.

I would go with the confirmed attendance from Tranmere and FGR myself.

Could take a pic two hours after final whistle and claim home ends were empty. Clearly early pic, look at all the gaps in that home stand.

One opposite in pic, you were close to full so doubt there were that many empty seats at ko
Time stamp on my phone at top of image.

Wasn’t trying to be funny, plenty of respect for the ones who do follow their teams around their country.
