That is about ten percent of the home crowd bit of our attendance give or take. As I've said, reckon it will end up around 300 which is nothing special of course but decent for us.
If you go past 350 I’d be impressed but to take an ‘average’ for one of the biggest games would be disappointing IMO.

You certainly did and we beat you home and away in league and you beat us home and away in play-offs.
But it was one season, we regularly played Grimsby, Lincoln and Tranmere which did generate enthusiasm against those teams.
Not quite true - just had to google the game at your place as I couldn’t remember the score, it was 1-1.

I remember the home game where you beat us though, think you were the only team that season to win at our place?

As for rivalries, you can’t have a rivalry with someone you’ve never really played - so I’d agree with you there.

Why is it the biggest game of their season? They played Northampton when they were second a few weeks back.
Its not really any more important than any others.
Apologies it was supposed to say ‘one of their biggest game’.

I’d say when you’re playing 2nd away it’s more important than playing, Walsall away - for example

10164 ticket sales as of one hour ago for tomorrow’s game.
It is heading for a complete sell out in the home stands. I can't remember the last time that happened for a regular league game. Probably never, as pre mid-nineties we still had terracing and pay on the gate for all games bar big cup ties.

I think we will start with an unchanged team, save for one of the centre halves replacing Foley at the back (hopefully Davies).

I'm hurt, we have had plenty of games through the years, including when we were in the Conference, and at the old ground too!
Maybe they don't want a rivalry with clubs to the south of them.

Was hopeful we’d have signed a striker for this game. But nothing. Why am I not surprised?

That means it’s unlikely that we’ll score a goal. Can we keep a clean sheet? Against a team 4th in the league? I have big doubts. We’ve been absolutely hopeless against teams in the top 7.

Taking all that into account, I just can’t see anything other than a routine comfortable Sutton United win.

Carlisle United 0-2 Sutton United

Just got to hope and prey that the teams below us also slip up tomorrow, although I can see Oldham getting a much needed win with their “new” manager bounce.

Expect us to be dragged right back into the shit. The silver lining would be it will hopefully give the idiots in charge a kick up the arse to do something before Monday night’s deadline.

Which of the 3 Tranmere forums did you get the original quote from?

From memory, think only Gunning’s was a straight red, the others were for two yellows. The one Macdonald got this season was for a succession of minor fouls and perhaps he was a bit unfortunate. It was also at a time when he was coming back from injury and not fully match fit.

The referee for Saturday’s game is Lee Swabey, who I haven’t seen in action before, don’t think he’s done a game at Prenton Park. He’s not one who grabs the headlines, so have to hope a safe pair of hands and the game doesn’t become all about him. Optimistically I’m not expecting a high foul count, though straight reds can come out of nowhere.
You are right, he also seems to have been at one Tranmere game and that was at Stevenage behind closed doors last season in a 0-0 draw and only booked two players, Vaughn and Spearing.

Can see him throwing a curve ball in. FGR will likely be allowed to dominate possession at times so he might want Hawkes in there for pace on the counter.

Getting prepared for the ritual big crowd away win.
You’re starting to sound like me! Though think (Hope) we’ve got over that after a couple of home play-off wins in front of decent crowds.

Our top scorer last season was Tom Clifford, with 3!

All 3 from FK's

We had at most, 22 goals from open play. Fun
Our second top scorer last season was a Mr Own Goal.

I've had my breakfast, shower and shave and now getting ready to catch one of the coaches from the fleet  travelling north to Tranmere.
Latest attendance figures seem to be improving every hour. Hopefully it won't faze FGR because the team are well accustomed to playing in front of large away crowds.
Both sets of supporters obviously want their team to win game but most forecasts are for a low score draw.
Whatever the result, let's have a good game.

Tranmere have released their manager pre-match interview. Something to watch on the coach.

Love the games against Tranmere. Horrible to loose, but always get a good buzz up there. Found a great kebab shop last time for the play-off game. Won't be there today, I got rona. If we can score first, I'd like it to be late on. I don't fancy defending a lead after the harrowing second half at Oldham recently.

Yeah get well soon Stripes.

Will be a tough battle this, can't see there being many goals in it getting the first one could be crucial. Reckon Kane Wilson, unlike some ex-players, will get a decent reception as he still speaks highly of the place.

Yep it is likely to be low scoring. We often start slowly whether by design of not. I'm sure we will be very cautious for the whole game, and see if we get a good brake. We normally come on strong on 30 minutes, I half expect something around that mark. But although a draw feels more like a loss, and we've had a few draws lately, I guess a draw would be good this time. We always seem to play Tranmere when there is a lot riding on it, always for the better so far. Two consistently good teams

Kane Wilson is a class act, on and off the pitch. Always speaks eloquently. I'd be surprised if he's with us next season, promotion the minimum requirement for him to sign a new contract I suspect. We have too many players who count as decent to single out. But Kane is one of the best we have, That's an understatement.

Wilson was excellent when he was with us and I was disappointed we did not (or could not) sign him permanently.

In our recent League One season it was only him and Kieran Morris that looked comfortable at that level. If anything, they looked better players in that division because they were suited to a more technical game.

Tranmere v FGR probably deserves its own matchday thread.
Don't worry, we haven't forgotten that there are other teams in the division, despite the focus on the battle at the top...we will concentrate on the others after this little contest has been brought to a close!

One advantage we do have right now is if we are at a loss what sort of team we will name with the turnover in our squad the opposition have no fucking chance of scouting us.

Just get the win whatever it takes today. If I was naming the team would go something like this (whether DC does or not I’ve got no idea):-

Stone

Smith
Hall
Jones

Worrall
Garrity
Pett
Hussey

Cooper
Wilson
Harratt

Apparently Staffs rozzers will be in attendance with sniffer dogs for drugs etc. Guess they must have been reading the posts of that mouth breather from Scunny who used to come on here.

It's an unlikely rivalry, but we've had a succession of high profile games with a good dose of needle so it's not entirely unexpected. Always found your fans to be a good bunch. Get well soon bud, fingers crossed for a good game (although I'm not particularly optimistic!)

Genuinely can’t remember a league game for 30 years getting 12,500. Sure there’s been bigger gates in league one and championship playoffs, FA cup against Liverpool, Spurs and United..

But for a league two football match against a little village team not some footballing super power? Crazy stuff and shows the excitement both around Tranmere and lower league football in general.
