Genuinely can’t remember a league game for 30 years getting 12,500. Sure there’s been bigger gates in league one and championship playoffs, FA cup against Liverpool, Spurs and United..

But for a league two football match against a little village team not some footballing super power? Crazy stuff and shows the excitement both around Tranmere and lower league football in general.
Village team *and* footballing super power :D

There has been some great crowds in league 1 and 2 this season.

Tranmere, Swindon and ourselves for example in league 2

Sheff Wed, Sunderland, Pompey and Ipswich in league 1

I've had my breakfast, shower and shave and now getting ready to catch one of the coaches from the fleet  travelling north to Tranmere.
Latest attendance figures seem to be improving every hour. Hopefully it won't faze FGR because the team are well accustomed to playing in front of large away crowds.
Both sets of supporters obviously want their team to win game but most forecasts are for a low score draw.
Whatever the result, let's have a good game.

Tranmere v FGR probably deserves its own matchday thread.
I'm quite surprised that given the Winter Break, that Sky Sports haven't chosen to show this game.
I say surprised, its obvious that they don't give a toss about League Two now Bolton have left us

I know people get all giddy when there’s a big attendance but it is some going that one today from us. Just shows the catchment a club like ourselves has when things are going well.

It’s such an exciting time at the club right now. Performances are brilliant, off the pitch we’re looking very secure and there’s a real feel good factor about the place. I remember heading down to Maidenhead on a pissing wet Tuesday and getting beat 1-0 about 3 years ago. Things couldn’t be further from that now and we’re in a place to really push on now

It has a feel of a playoff game this today but the best thing is, even with a defeat, we’d still be second! Just hope the game gives the 12,000 there today a belter day out. Come on Rovers!! (The Wirral one)

They could always show another Salford game.

It’s about time the TV rights for L1 and L2 were changed though.

Or 4-4-2 with Smith RB? Woz and Amoo on the wings

Maybe, I don’t like Smith at that position though thankfully Scunny no longer have someone like Eisa on the wing.

Stone probably a bit unlucky to be dropped too after keeping a clean sheet last time out but as DC has said neither keeper has really established themselves.

and down 1 level to the national league there's some decent gates down there too with clubs like Stockport, Wrexham, Notts County, Chesterfield etc in there. If any of them need a win or draw in their last home game to get automatic promotion they'll probably have 10,000+ there.

12,000 is a great attendance for division 4 in old money.
Had it been against Bradford etc then with a big away following it would have been 14,000 odd which is fantastic.
Hopefully it’s an entertaining game with goals. I’m sure our old striker hemmings will be in the goals soon.

He was immense at RB just before covid, recall we destroyed Col U with him there but could be 3-4-3 we’ve got to attack these anyway. It’s must win.

Hate being overwhelming favourites as well. Over 6/1 for a Scunthorpe win on some sites. That’s just asking for a Vale defeat!

Aitchison back in at 10, McAteer on the bench for his debut.

Anthony Grant playing for Scunny today. Probably not what he was as a player but still more than good for L2. Garrity in particular will need to be careful with the ball today particularly as he’ll be playing in a two.

Good battle with him and Walker though.

Knowing how successful a shithouser that Grant is (and I’m saying that as a compliment to him) a Walker yellow card is nailed on I’d say.

Only change Knight-Percival back in central defence for Foley, who isn’t even on the bench so guess injury or covid. Shame about Sam, as he’s been the surprise success story of the season and his versatility makes him great to have on the bench. Plenty of attacking options for the Wirral Rovers, can’t see this game being goalless

Scunny and Oldham are winning today. There's nothing more certain.

Agree totally, look at some of the attendances in the Conference too...Stockport had nearly 9k at Christmas for their game against Altrincham.

Hanging around in the National League was more fun than this. Game over after two minutes.

Just come home to find out we're 2-0 down already - I think Cooper will be gone after today.
