A very lifeless performance from Vale in that half. Just no pace to us at all and nobody wanting to make runs off the ball. Charlton have never had it so easy. Piss poor attempt at a clearing header from Forrester on their goal.

I’m going out on a limb that Ipswich may be up now.
Charlton are knocking it about like a pre season friendly. It's been so easy for them. The lack of effort is shocking.

Very true. Some of them like Massey can they at least look like they fancy winning a 50-50 too?

Seriously get Plant and McDermott on, I’ve seen enough of some of these losers.

And I hate to say it as he was a major reason we went up last season but Procs has run his race for me.

Neville Southall in our crowd. Presumably post-match banter about Evertonian decline to distract from how shit we are.

Unlikely, but we aren't exactly helping ourselves
Isn’t though is it. Those last games are gimmes for Oxford and Cambridge so Burton lose both we are down realitistically.

We've just subbed Christian Walton at 81 for Hladky to come on our backup GK at 6-0.

Lovely touch,

aaaaaand a comedy blunder from our debutant loanee keeper to make it 3-0 to Chelts. Shambles. Just a dreadful end to the season (not the last actual game, but the last home game).

Congrats Plymouth and Ipswich. Officially done today although we all knew it last week!

A good performance from the Owls. Smith hat trick, clean sheet and a return for Windass…. Roll on the play offs.

Congrats to Plymouth and Ipswich.

As for our game improved second half but even then Charlton found it way too easy to waltz through our defence to score a couple. Made up for young James Plant to score his first for the club, provided a bit of a spark to a previously lifeless team.

Hugely disappointing to be two up and still lose, regardless of it being an end of season game for us. We're far more defensively solid than we showed today.

Yep, fair play to Argyle and Ipswich, tough to keep that level of consistency over the course of the season (as SWFC’s late choke has shown) but you did it, so congratulations.

I think both should be ok in the next tier too.

Haven’t seen the game and more interested in us staying up but sounds like we had chances second half. Great for Planty he is a real prospect but shows we need a lot of work in the summer, that said we’ve limped over the line with a defence decimated by injuries so only had two young lads and Smith to pick from.

Job done and can unwind for a few months.

Congratulations to Ipswich. Massively outclassed today, ran rings through our defence. I know we were without key players but they beat us easily when we were at full strength, so we can have no complaints.

Never a penalty though...

Exeter fans slightly concerned by their end of season form? Six losses on the bounce? It's that kinda end of season thing that can follow into the next sometimes.

Ipswich were decent but we were abysmal. Utter tragic. Never a penalty either. Referee has let the occasion get to him.

Yup. Very worried. Granted we were against some top sides but we’re just not very good.

Caldwell has a hell of a summer ahead of him though to see what he can do.

Massive win with a very good performance though we were hanging on a bit at the death after the dubious penalty.

Well that was a bit shit. Not quite the ‘Festival of Football’ advertised. We did manage a shot on target eventually.

Cambridge probably can’t believe their luck having us at home to stay up.

Great response to Tuesday's debacle. After a slow start I thought we dominated Wycombe and it was a really comfortable win in the end.

What I'd give for a full season of May and Keena up front...

Never in doubt....

We were dreadful first half and just watched a pretty average Charlton side knock it about. Second half we were the better team but a couple of Charlton lads had pace that we couldn't cope with. We need to have a big clear out, otherwise this time next year we will be Forest Green.

Well that was disappointing. We had control of the game and scored a 2nd start of 2nd half. Should have meant Morecambe getting frustrated, but they scored their 1st about a minute after our 2nd. That was crucial.

We were never going to keep a clean sheet today with Morecambe throwing everything forward, but we really helped them with a horrid defensive display. Rushworth was iffy!

However even at 2-1 down, we had so many chances to extend our lead. Mandriou hit the post, O'Connor hit the bar, Sanders pinged 1 wide.

Morecambe were down for most of that game, losing 2-0 and MK winning 4-1. They scored their winner as MK conceded for 4-4. All to play for now, fair play for them winning 3 games in a row and keeping it alive. I do think they will drop however.

Have to say, Morecambe is a bizarre depressing place. Never seen so many men on their own drinking at 9 in the morning!

Also never thought Morecambe would be as warm as it was this afternoon!

Yeah it’s clear for too many of them they were never L1 standard players. I never thought we’d go down this season but looking ahead to next season without drastic changes we’ll be relegation favourites and rightly so. We can start by getting someone in goal who can actually stop the ball getting past him. That and adding some pace to this team are going to be key.

Up until today all our losses have been narrow.
But we have massive injuries at the moment. Today we were without arguably 7 or 8 of our best players - Nombe, Brown, Stansfield, Collins, Mcdonald, Blackman and Diabate. We had to play Key in a forward role.
But the way our back three was taken apart was concerning. However that was against the best team in the league.
If I was a Morecambe fan I'd be confident for next Sunday

Well earlier I put a couple of quid on a 3-3 draw and Alfie to score - at least I got our 3 right.

We can now finish no lower than 17th, currently our second highest ever position, and could even finish 14th if we beat Charlton on Sunday. Our highest ever position is 15th.

And to think, there are still people who think Wade isn't up to the job!!

Just watched the highlights, Jesus Christ those first two goals are pub level and you’d argue no one else in the league concedes those.

Forresters header was awful for the first, the second Mal is on Benidorm beach strolling for the 50-50 then no one closes him down and let’s him pretty much stroll it in.

See at 3-1 we decided not to chase it as we knew results elsewhere and became spooked with the goal difference issue which was wise but yeah that game sums up our season really. Had DJ or Cass not got crocked maybe it’s a different last few months as we were stuck with that back line, can also point to losing Hall.

Just chuffed for Plant though first pro deal after playing out of position in a stellar debut at Ipswich then comes on today out of position again and scores! Big hopes for him.

Big summer ahead to avoid second season syndrome, expect a big clear out but lessons need to be learnt, notably not assuming the job is done in January so letting players leave and not bother replacing them!

We came up a season too soon and have been saddled with too many League Two players under contract so a chance now for a clear out and add some more L1 calibre players. Get it wrong and we will struggle.
