We decided to make the game a real spectacle by lining up with what was basically a false 9 system with 4 attacking midfielders. two wing backs that didn't bother with the 'back' bit and 3 CB's that were more interested in doing drag backs then actually tracking runners or winning headers. Throw a goalkeeping howler in and up against a decent side you aren't going to get much. We improved with Matt on but would have been daylight robbery if we'd nicked a point. Vaughan absolutely dominated our back line. We look like we badly miss Winchester and Kitching. Young loanees to replace quality players is a risky strategy.

great result for Cambridge. Southend should have been out of sight by half time. I guess we couldn’t see quite how windy it was on the telly. Southend commentators were good though

Really? I thought we had some nice patterns of play and did really well. The team move for the second goal was brilliant.
Jay Spearing sounds more like a manager than Keith Hill in their post match interviews.

Mark Cooper being his usual bitter little self.

The spine of our team has been McGee, Stokes, Winchester and Matt. If you start the game with only one of them on the pitch it is always going to be a bit of a challenge, it sounds like we played OK for the last 40 minutes but unfortunately the damage had been done by then. Frustrating, but we move on.

Tranmere had a very good win. They were top team for most of the match. It was only when they went 3-1 ahead that FGR threatened. But by then too late.

1-0 up King goal kick lolz.
Confirmed by Guinness World Records as the longest goal scored in a competitive football match at 96.01m or 105yds. Tidy Kingy. Mind you was probably the only goal kick he kept on the pitch on Tuesday - most went straight out for throw-ins.
