Lose and we are well and truly in the mire.

FGR 2-0 Barrow. Can't see where a goal is coming from.

Gary Bowyer returns to VP and I reckon a comfortable 3 points for his Salford side.

I hate myself for running through the remaining fixtures and plotting a way we can stay up.

Tuesday will seal our fate I’m pretty sure of that

Unless we can manage to win 3 games in a row against 3 of the (current) stronger sides in the league, you’re fine. We’ve won consecutive games once all season and we’d have to win 4 to stay up.

Yep, I’d accepted relegation weeks ago and confirmed it on Saturday but then yesterday happened. I agree that for all the people hoping on Barrow and Scunny imploding are forgetting that we have to win everything and we just can’t. We’re already past the improbable stage.

Pretty simple we pretty much have to win all three games and hope Barrow (we could have one draw and two wins to above these), Scunny or Colchester lose all three.

Very unlikely, am still resigned to relegation.

Barrow play Southend next weekend, so losing both that game and on Tuesday as well would pull Southend to within two points going into the final day.

Barrow seem to have been unlucky (or careless) on numerous occasions this season (conceding goals at the last minute, particularly): there's no chance of that happening against us, we can't score goals for love or money at the moment.

On the away fixture they struck me as a cut above the other teams in the lower league positions (especially Scunthorpe, who I think seemed overall the weakest team we played, home and away, and, despite what they did to us at TNL, Southend).

I'd not be surprised at another 0-0, or if we have some bit of good luck coming our way, 1-0, but I expect it to be tight, and expect Barrow to be fighting hard. Really would not be very surprised if they beat us, either. Can't call it, in short. Not convinced we will score at all in our remaining games....

The thing is, everyone seems to think yourselves and Southend have no chance of winning the the 3 or 4 games in a row that's required in a run of tough games. We are as poor as both and we won four in a row including a game at Cheltenham not so long back that's put us in the position we are now. So it isn't completely inconceivable.

Focusing more on the Grimsby game than ours, we already know what's happening in our game.

To us Southend are irrelevant. We have to win all our games, meaning Southend wouldn’t be able to catch us anyway. Reliant on Barrow or Scunny imploding, which is likely but as everyone has said, would be the miracle of miracles for us to win them all.

I'm not talking about Grimsby at all. You told the Barrow fan that: "Unless we can manage to win 3 games in a row against 3 of the (current) stronger sides in the league, you’re fine."

I was just pointing out that Southend can quite conceivably be within two points of Barrow this time next weekend.

We need Aaron Collins to go on a little run of actually scoring like he had at Morecambe, he does the rest just not the business. Wishful thinking no doubt but you never know.

Ever since SoC started getting smug about predicting us to win the league, we've fallen away. Clearly his fault.

Seriously though, it was coming, squad was never strong enough to stay up there, we're a midtable side on paper imo too reliant on one or two key players. Hope we can do the bottom sides a favour on Tuesday, but highly doubt it.

Is Matt injured at the moment?

Out for the season, broken hand v Bolton. Fellow ex-Fish Whitehouse out for the season too. Both been big players for us.

Fair enough. Point still stands that Barrow and Scunny (and you lot tbf) would have to be extremely unlucky to go down at this point. Fwiw I think both teams fates will be decided on Tuesday (not 100% officially for Southend of course).

We have also lost Dan Sweeney, who has turned in some really good performances, for the rest of the season...with a squad our size we couldn't really afford to lose that many key players.

Sorry to Southend and Barrow fans, but do not expect anything from us. Three successive nil nils and we haven't looked like scoring in any of them.
I expect Grimsby to do their usual thing at SJP and turn us over

Something is telling me you're a glass half full type of person Laker. Call it intuition ;)

Nah the title's gone with that poor show against Stevenage. Promotion should be our aim now and the lads better deliver this coming Friday because I'm not sure my heart's up to the job if we have to do it on the final day of the season instead. And you know as well as I do that we always seem to struggle to beat the poor sides in this league.

Yep, I can see this being 1-0 to Grimsby. We’re abject at the moment and we’ve lost all confidence. We can barely get a shot on target.

Grimsby have to win and they’ve had some good results of late, so I expect them to do what’s necessary.

Wish the season would end already.

as long as you let us beat you 7-1 on the last day to make up for 1972 that's fine....

I would say us, Newport and Exeter do. They look a threat. If they beat you reckon they're nailed on for top 7.

Won the last 2 away trips to SJP but not expecting anything from this one. Games were *expected* to win inevitably end up blowing up in our face. Would rather go out with a bang than a whimper though.

Hahaha yeah sorry about that smugness. This season has been an abject failure on all counts and I'm just waiting fall down to second spot of my work fantasy league on the final day after dominating all season!

Damn that's a shame for Whitehouse, never really clicked for him here and he's had awful luck with injuries the past few seasons. What's the latest injury?

We're obviously relegated buuuut, Exeter won't be looking forward to facing us, desperate for a win as they are. They come into the game off the back of three 0-0 draws, having failed to win in 4 games. We come in off the back of 2 wins in 3 games and only 2 defeats in 12.

Ahhh selectively chosen statistics, gotta love em!

He took a blow to his knee, that he’s got a bit of history with, against Salford and hasn't been right since apparently. Needs exploratory surgery. Shame as he's been very good for us, and we've missed him over the last few games.
