Apparently we were offering Exeter £300k to £350k which seems reasonable considering he's out of contract in the summer. Exeter wanted £500k. I'm thinking they wish they'd taken the offer now as he's unlikely to feature again this season and will most likely be off the books for nothing in the summer.
£350k is reasonable but I guess the fact he’s scored 14 goals and has 10 assists, it would mean we’d have no chance of getting close to replacing that on deadline day, so we went back with a silly amount.

Should have taken it regardless tbh. You wont go up, wont go down, and he walks away free in the summer anyway.

There was an outside chance of the playoffs before Saturday, but thats gone now. We've had much bigger sums accepted for players previously so it was worth holding out for a few extra.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing

You dont have to have hindsight to see that was a very good deal. No way you, us or anyone else is competing with that top 7 with or without Jevani Brown

I wouldn't touch the guy, even on a free in the summer.

Lot's of talent but the guy is just an all round bad egg.

Yeah Exeter have no chance realistically purely down to the spending of the top 6/7 they will likely pull further away now.

That said, they sell him the fans are kicking off at a lack of ambition so guess it is a difficult one.

I think had they been up in the play off places or scrapping down the bottom then there would have been a good case to keep him, but if he isnt going to sign a new deal and you arent going anywhere then its crazy not to take that sort of cash.
I dont think fans cant point at a lack of ambition when its the first season back in L1. They have done really well to be where they are

Yes, trying to do these deals on the last day of the window puts the selling club in a difficult position so I don't have a problem with Exeter's valuation really. Nobody could see how things would play out afterwards.

Proctor starts! We are starting a striker for the first time in over a month!

Pleasing that it looks like 3-5-2 as well as the 3-4-3 just never works well, it didn’t last season when we used it! Don’t know if Politic is now injured but he was poor at the weekend again, I love the lad but he’s struggled this season.

Hopefully get 60 out of Procs.

It's almost our league 2 team. Bench looks weak but hopefully more players back on Saturday.

Referee booed off, Accrington have time wasted since minute one and he’s given in to everything. Accrington are a disgrace though, remember Coleman bringing his Rochdale team here and doing this.

This is pathetic from Accrington. I know they've got a few players out but their tactic is literally to go down as many times as possible and then when the keeper has it it's like he's in slow motion. Honestly embarrassing.

And they’re players surrounding him every time we make a tackle trying to get players sent off. This is a subbed in referee from the original and he’s the guy we had in the cup against these last season where Coleman blasted him.

Do Port Vale fans ever not complain?

What do you expect Accrington to do? They are massively short on numbers and scrapping for every point they can.

I don't begrudge the scrapping, but at least try and play the game fairly. Otherwise, what's the point?

Referee cost us three points there. Just let the goal stand man! Two points dropped against a disgrace of an Accrington side.

I know a lot of teams say this but that is honestly the single worst refereeing performance I've ever seen. It was shameful. Why did he not just give the goal? Surely that's the advantage played? Once you bring it back for the penalty there is always the chance it might be missed.

Happened to Barnsley at Pompey on Saturday too .

Scored but ref blew up for a foul early .

I'm not sure what the law is on situations like this but surely you should just play advantage? If it says otherwise fair enough but it does feel like we got fucked over a bit. Once it was a penalty I have to admit I didn't for one second think Butterworth was going to score it.

One more point then we had at the start of the night which is something, should really have been three. On to Shrewsbury.

Having said that, we still should be beating them comfortably. Any other side in the league would be looking at 4 or 5 against them tonight. We're just in a horrible place right now and look devoid of everything. Fortunately I think we'll get the required 12 or 13 points out of the rest of the season to see us safe.

Having said that, Accrington will surely be relegated and back to playing in the North West counties league where they belong. They really deserve it after what they did tonight.

If we had Wilson or Harrison tonight we destroy them, referee was piss weak though. It’s just pure cheating and Coleman did the same with Rochdale down here.

Paying £24 to watch that. Appalling.

Yep. Something needs doing about it, it's ruining football. I don't go to watch players throw themselves on the floor and waste time just to try and get something out of a game. I bet the ball was active for about a third of that game tonight. The money involved means that teams are trying to get points at all costs but it offers zero value for money. There seems to be a number of teams in this league that play the dark arts.
