I mean as we’re missing a stand i’m always weary of commenting on others grounds, but like us with our away end only holding 1600 you wonder how much revenue is being lost each season.

It’s certainly a bigger concern if we go up, when you have probably 15 teams that would fill 2,000+ seats at our gaff.

But it does seem the East Stand is slowly chugging to completion

Clearly you need to stay down then ;-)

Even more so if you go up. There’s quite a few Clubs that would bring double your away capacity. Then again there are also a few with less capacity than yours already in L1.

Our away end actually holds just shy of 2000 but I think the allocation is usually only allowed to be around 1700.

There is a debate around how big should your away capacity be. Our away end has been full twice this season, but the vast majority of games will see it sparsely populated.
Clearly there is no excuse for only having 500 available for away fans though.

Again. It’s next season it will bite you on the arse - if you go up. There would a host of clubs who’d bring loads more fans if you had the capacity. It’s all lost income.

Have to beat Rochdale today. We're without McKirdy for a while but Tomlinson and Barry are back. Have a horrible feeling we'll flop again a la Colchester and Crawley but we really need 3 points to keep the pressure on the pack.

It's an odd one. Yes, teams below have got a game in hand on you, but you're still 3rd. You don't seem to be playing scintillating football or blowing teams away, but you keep picking up results.

Do you think it's because you keep coming back down when you go up? The atmosphere and feel good factor at vale is brilliant and yet we're still 3 points behind you. Everyone is buzzing though. Perhaps we've been so starved of any success (1 promotion in nearly 30 years) that we're just glad to be in it, whereas you've had a few promotions.

I suspect we'll sell out every away allocation that we have left now and if there is something riding on the last home game, I can see 15,000 in. I can also see 12-13,000 for the Bristol Rovers game.

I just find it a bit odd that you seem on a bit of a downer.

Yeah we keep chugging along, we have not been outside of the top 3 for months it feels like despite our seemingly patchy form.

I think the fact we keep coming down has something to do with it. Both times recently we have come down we have been pathetic, taking some absolute pastings and just offering turgid football. We never seem to be able to consolidate at the level above (we would have if Wilder had not understandably left). Dont get me wrong, the ideal outcome for most at this level, myself included is to have a solid L1 side which is looking to improve its infrastructure etc. For me personally I have just fallen out of love with football a little in recent times for a number of years.

With our current side and our approach I have little doubt we would be in a relegation dogfight next season and likely come back down. Still, despite the negativity, come on town!

I know some fans would want to have a certain cap of away fans to ensure that there is still a healthy balance of home to away fans. But looking at L1 there must be 8 or 9 clubs that if in the right circumstances would bring 2k plus comfortably.

True, we also lost to North Ferriby a few years back...who were possibly one of the worst teams ever to play in the National League and went down with something like seven points.
Remember that feeling quite unreal watching it unfold :D Conclusive proof we really can lose to anyone without even having to put our minds to it.

Expecting some changes to the lineup after Tuesday’s lacklustre display.

Doubt it will be enough to bridge the gulf in quality and get anything at Tranmere, but hopefully we can at least put in a better more energetic display.

Big blow, both Pett and Garrity out and whilst Jake Taylor makes the bench for the first time in months it looks set for 3-4-3… we don’t create with that!

We may have nothing to play for but I don't imagine that it'll be evident in our performances. Every player out there is playing for their future at the club whether they're out of contract or not.

Performances have been improving each week since Hughes came in (aside from port vale) and thats the only thing that matters from our perspective atm, even if we lose.

Think tomorrow will be a tight game, but a narrow defeat at a ground that we never get anything from.
Agree with that but we didn't play badly against Vale. We played as well as we were allowed. On the day, they were strong and physical and wouldn't let us play. They broke quickly and accurately and the 2 big lads up front had good movement plus good on the ball skills. They were also cynical without resorting to throwing themselves to the floor. I rated Vale, the best team to come to our VP this season.

I agree they stopped us playing and we couldn't deal with their energy and physicality at times but they didn't particularly impress me. Hartlepool still take that accolade bizarrely.

These players are absolutely shite.

I said the other night that we’d reverted back to type and its looking like continuing today. Lazy disinterested losers with hardly any ability.

Don't know what's going on at Prenton Park other than from listening to the radio. But Callum McDonald has been sent off for Tranmere after ploughing through Kevin Mellor and the Tranmere players seem to have lost it in the aftermath, apparently one of them started on our bench and also grabbed hold of Mellor while our physio treated him. Sounds like Tranmere could recieve another red as I'm hearing Peter Clarke punched someone

EDIT: All over, plenty of yellow cards but no further red. Chance for us to get back into it because it doesn't sound as though we've been out of it.
