Unless we get to the Championship that won’t happen every week, although fair bloody play to Ipswich; sold 1500 and having an extra batch for a Tuesday night is pretty good going considering the distance.
That's incredible for a midweek. Ipswich is a horrible drive to where we are.

Still not totally sure what the ref gave our penalty for to be honest. Did any FGR fans down that end have a good view of it? I’m assuming it was a handball but hard to tell.

I will take one thing from today, I’ve seen Vale teams in the past that would have just given up at 2-0 down and 10 to go but say what else you will about this squad they will keep trying to the end and got somewhat of a reward for it today.

from my viwe in ground it deffo hit a hand although i couldn't have told you which player it was or even which team. their players weren't happy although it didn't seem like their fans were very upset about the decision

not seen it back on tv yet

Another decent win on the road and we move up to 8th place and out the play off places on goal difference.

As expected, Fleetwood were much better second half. They hit the crossbar a couple of times and tested Marosi, although nothing too difficult. We should have wrapped it up on the break but hit the woodwork ourselves through Shipley. Game become very feisty at the end and 9 bookings shown overall!

Onto Charlton at home next Saturday!
We were very disappointing in the first half and could have gone in 2/3 down.Much improved in the second but Salop defended very well and your goalie was never really troubled, well done and keep up the good work

I did warn you (or one of the other PV fans perhaps) on one of these threads a couple of months ago we’d bring a couple thousand to your place even though it was midweek when about 5 teams were listed who’d bring good numbers to your ground this season and we didn’t make the list.

Have to admit I wasn’t there today. As much as I wanted to be, I had to sacrifice my season ticket for a day.

From what the stats suggested throughout, we were well on top and creating half chances here and there but nothing clear cut. Can’t be too angry as games like this will happen and it sounds like our first poor performance. 33 shots and 14 corners on our worst game at a 28k attendance is still decent going I suppose. I’ve been at games in the championship under McCarthy where we had 14 shots in a spell of 6 home matches in front of 14k. So I suppose that should show the level of improvement in the club atm. It’s just one of those days where you have to credit Lincoln on what sounds as though it was just a brilliant defensive display

Considering your location (it's an absolute bastard to get to from where we are). There's no real motorways and the A roads are often filled with tractors or lorries going to Felixstowe. It's a minimum 4 hour journey and on a Tuesday night, you're probably not getting in until 2am minimum and you are going to have to set out at around 1pm with traffic to get to us in plenty of time. I take my hat off to that amount of people coming.

I seem to recall that might have been me. I think that was more about selling out the whole away end which is why I picked out Bolton and Wednesday and probably someone else I’ve forgotten about now. Irrespective though fair play to anyone making the journey midweek, it’s bad enough for me going from MK to home game so that is probably double the amount of time travelling for that one.

Where did you get the Bolton attendance from mate? Official attendance was 18415? Or am I missing something?

The keeper handballed it I think, I reckon FGR had peed off the ref with their constant time wasting and feigning injuries that he was determined to stop them winning. It is the scourge of modern football all this timewasting and It willl drive me away from the game if it carries on. Our trainer has been on the pitch once in our last two home games whereas the Owls and Fgr physios have been the busiest member of staff for the opponents.

It looks like their lad similar to Derby when they go for the jump handles it.

Great goal from Mipo reacting and good penalty after the antics of their keeper. Harrison has been a real coup for us.

Great result for us, obviously. That's what we tried to do at Bolton but made two individual errors, so when you play that way the margin for error is zilch. We also did similar at home to Charlton so we've had a mixed bag over the last three games playing that way. I don't think it's something we'll do long term, just through this patch of playing the bigger sides - with Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley next!

5 shots on target from 33 is very poor, though. Highlights don't always reflect the full picture but didn't look like Rushworth really had a save of note to make really.

What was that performance about/there didn’t appear to be much fuss by your supporters either when we went 3-0 up by half-time? They didn’t appear to receive much flack for it either. Eventually the combination of our own frailties and taking our foot off the gas at 4-0 let them back in the game with two unnecessary goals.

As a fan owned club, the crowd at SJP have a owners perspective perhaps?

Its definitely poor but your defenders were outstanding. A couple of last ditch blocks for certain goalbound efforts. We were let down by a poor first half in truth. Always seem a decent club/fanbase as well. Was quite impressed with both yesterday.
As for us, we will bounce back. Cringey football speak as side, games like this were always going to happen

I reckon the stats must include shots blocked by your defenders. Sky app shows 16 blocked shots.

Superb defending to be honest.

Have to admit I’m tempted by it but the journey is difficult from where I am (east London). Would require two days off work too as I’d be coming up by train.

Have yet to decide but at least pleased to see Port Vale have given us more tickets so I can decide next week. How close to Stokes ground are you? My favourite ever fry up was at Stoke away in some little cafe draped in Stoke flags, Stoke mugs, Stoke paintings and even Stoke napkins. All the while I sat in my Ipswich coat getting glared at by some home fans. My mate agreed though that it was an absolute belter of a breakfast though. Am almost tempted to come to the game for that alone if the grounds are near to each other (I have no idea if they are or are not).

It’s about 4-5 miles away. Opposite end of the city. If driving only about 15 mins down the A500. You’d likely pass the stadium en route as from the A50 you pass it or if you come north up the M6 and get off J15 you’d pass it on the roundabout onto the A500.

Shame these are both Tuesday meetings which will knock both away attendances a bit with it being so long since we’ve crossed paths.

You’d need a taxi or bus from there if you’re not driving. Also worth noting as well if you were coming via the train it’s a fair old distance from Stoke station also (Longport is actually the nearer one).
