FFS I've had that Yeovil photo saved in my docs for ages, waiting for the day we over take them and natural order is resumed ;)

Quality reply though! Gutted I didn't think of that myself!

Also, wasn't it 31,000 we took in the end? Either way who cares, in fact, I would say that our 31,000 (in perspective) is more impressive that City's 40,000... Oh, and didn't we take over 40,000 to Wembley last time? Not that it means anything, we all know city are a bigger club, just a shame you can't put them all down at birth eh? ;)

It's an open top bus tour for getting back to where we should have been. A bit like your one earlier this year, except you spent £40m to do it :fish:

I hope you enjoyed your open top bus parade for winning the "How embarrassing, we're in the pot paint trophy, I might as well support Swindon or someone else, that's how embarrassed I am. In fact, I may just give up supporting City, lets be honest, we're all shag our sisters anyway"

I can also confirm this was a quote from ciderup on TFF. Shame it closed down, otherwise i'd prove it.

Cough, Champions!
I think you will find that £40M has actually magically gone! Ah, the pleasures of having a £Billionaire in charge. :2thumb:

Bullshit!!

Good effort though!
Our open top bus tour was to celebrate winning our league as well as the tinpot trophy WTGR.

Fair enough Gassy. I'm not at my cheerful best at the mo bud, been to a funeral today and feeling a bit shit (don't!!).
Got another one next week for a top City lad who passed away last week at a young age so it's easy to get me to bite at the mo. I'm a big lad though, I can take a piss take and I deserve one for falling for that.

At the moment, yes.

Of course, back where we should be is in the League. It was an embarrassment that we were non league. Back where you should be is the Championship. It was embarrassing that a club that has spent 40/50 million over the last 6/7 years was lower than the Championship.

Both of you massively underachieve in all honesty, and have done so for some time.

Agreed, without a shadow of a doubt. But I've heard so many City fans say we shouldn't celebrate getting promoted. Why the hell not?! Getting out of that league from the first time of asking is massive for us, minimises the damage that could have been done. If we shouldn't celebrate getting promoted because it's a level we shouldn't have slipped to then neither should they.

You should never have been down there in the first place Miagsy but I see no reason not to celebrate promotion albeit a slightly embarrassing one wtgr.

Getting relegated to the Conference is embarrassing, getting promoted out of it certainly is not, it's a bloody hard thing to do, even more impressive doing it first time around.

There isn't a better promotion in football than that one.

I see it this way, if we're not allowed to celebrate promotion from the Conference, why were we so gutted to be relegated in the first place?

There was a sense of retribution on Sunday, the celebrations matched the feeling of pain last year. It felt more significant than a promotion from League Two, for example. Those who have gone down to non-league and come back up will also tell you how big it is to come back up first time.

Dont even try and play that card. We were relegated from a division full of teams much bigger than us, many with premier league parachute payments. The likes of Derby, Ipswich, Wolves, Boro.. Bigger crowds, bigger resources, much better facilities and higher wages for players. In no way can that be compared to you dropping out of league 2 where you had the third highest wage bill and most teams getting half the crowds you do. Absolutely not the same thing and you know it.

On another note, getting out of the conference at the first time of asking is a very good achievement, and I respect that. Both teams should be looking for a decent top half finish in their respective divisions next season I think.

Not many of the teams you mentioned have bigger resources and in particular money at your disposal though do they?

Even if our relegation was worse than yours and it probably is, that's not the point I was making. We're talking promotion, and for every time you lot said we should be comfortable beating Nuneaton and Braintree etc, the exact same applies for you with the likes of Crawley and Yeovil. If we cannot celebrate being promoted from a league with teams smaller than us and with smaller resources than us, well guess what, you guys have done exactly the same.

Oh dont get me wrong I see the rivalry but cant bring myself to 'hate' them, for the past 15 Years they havent provided a threat to us.
I know they hate us with a passion and i just laugh at it.
If you lived in Bristol you wouldn't be saying that. All ''we played you 6 times since I've been watching, they are irrelevant'' would be bollocks. Deny it all you want but even if we didnt go up the majority of City fans would say Rovers are your biggest rivals and the ones who didn't would most likely be lying to themselves. Nothing like being from Bristol, having all your mates support City or Rovers and not some Prem shite and watching a Bristol derby.

You can't really 'start' a rivalry MrGL, it's inbuilt. While I have no doubt you and the gas will have a bit of needle next season, as we did with Swindon this season, it won't ever be the same as the City / Gas one WTGR. It's 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year!
I dislike Cardiff rent boys and have nothing but disdain for the 6 fingered cheats down the M4 but it's always the bloody gas for me. I don't mind admitting to jumping around the room when Grimsby scored on Sunday, just how it should be. I don't dislike any particular gashead, I quite like many of them, but really do wish nothing but bad fortune on their club as I'm sure they wish the same for mine!
Haven't been on here long but this is the most accurate post I've seen. The last bit in particular caught my eye. The slight majority of my mates are City fans (what you get for going to school in Hengrove) and I want them to do badly of course. But I would never want them to go out of business or anything like that. I'd say I'd love us to meet in the cup next year but tbh we would get dicked so I'd rather avoid that for now

Rovers are our fierce rivals, Cardiff are a rivalry that has lost it's edge since the rise of Swansea but hopefully might get reignited next season if we're both at the right (or even wrong) end of the table, and Swindon aren't a rival - just a nuisance that appeared in November and were dealt with nicely by the end of the season.

Anyway, sorry to derail the thread further, just wanted to add my thoughts. Congratulations again. Rovers. Hope you get relegated next year, though. xxx

Will be interesting to see who has the better season next season, Akinde or Harrison.

I'm not saying it'll be Harrison, but if Harrison had played all season, he'd probably have had around an Akinde-esque season. Believe he averaged a goal every 90 minutes.

Don't worry, you'll have Barrow next season!
I think it more likely you'll have to adopt "Nobody hates us, we don't care." Apart from irritation over Radio Cumbria coverage, I don't think the rivalry would get far.

Life Imitating Art Part 94 - Referee McFuddle, Give 'Em Beans, August 1993

"Still reeling, and searching for some semblance of reality, Joe turns on his radio... click...!

"'So as John Brady puts the ball on the penalty spot, he takes a few paces back and...'

'Afraid I'll have to interrupt you there Leo and whisk our listeners up to Brunton Park, where, as I understand it a dog has just ran on the pitch! Can you hear me Nick Barnes?'

'Yes, indeed as you say a Border collie dog of about five years of age has run onto the playing area and ha, ha, ha, ha! It...'" Click!...

"Well, good old Radio Dumbria's still there, but they don't usually mention Barrow at all; what the ruddy hell is going on?" Joe says aloud, his voice and mental state beginning to crack."

In football terms, Barrow are still in Lancashire. Even the Reds rivalry has mellowed in recent years, with Morecambe and Fleetwood providing temporary distraction. A reunion with them in 2 seasons time might be a bit spicier than Southport or Altrincham in 2015/16.

its changed abit now with Radio Cumbria and Barrow are maybe one of a handful of teams who got full match coverage most weeks when in conf north.

but they put barrow on AM and Carlisle on FM, so no more cutting away stuff.

I know but it's a bit like us and Posh. Pre and post match, we have to put up with endless Posh waffle, only lightened by the prospect of an interview with the Wife Beater (next season Westley?) if they've been beaten. It's made worse if you go to most matches so you actually miss the commentary in the middle and just get the irritating waffle.

Some of these pictures of the 'print that bastard' that are being created are genuinely making me laugh to be fair.

When do Rovers announce their retained and released list then?

As for the loanees they have currently, the only one I'd bank on coming back is Lines - he's not good enough for L1 in all honesty, but he looked very impressive Sunday, and he wears his heart on his sleeve playing for Rovers, and could even be described as a 'club legend.'

He'll be back.

Sensible post that, and a point well made.

My mate said there was an overriding feeling of not only joy, but relief on Sunday, and the 'we've got our Rovers back' was rather heartwarming for him and many Gasheads, understandably.
